Chapter 7 The Great Demon King

Splash—

A splash of water rang out.

A black and white rope was swept out of the water by a wave and slammed onto the pebbles on the riverbank. The moment the rope touched the ground, it darted into a narrow crevice between the rocks.

Upon reaching safety, the silver-ringed snake went limp and collapsed to the ground. It stretched out its tongue and, after a long while, finally came back to life.

Silver Ring glared with its snake-like eyes, filled with rage.

Hmph, I thought I'd met a good person, but it turns out...

That man was truly despicable; he threw her into the river.

She came to Penang from Fuding Mountain and had been swimming in the river for almost a month. Her skin was almost peeling from being soaked in the river water. But after only one day on the shore, she was thrown back in.

Whew—thankfully she reacted quickly and wasn't swept away by the river into the legendary sea. If she had actually entered the sea, she would never have been able to find her way back.

Silver Ring tilted her head, secretly pondering how to get back.

After thinking for a while, Silver Ring felt a little hungry. She wagged her tail, hooked it to the left and back, and then caught a tender river grass and put it to her mouth. She opened her mouth, held the river grass in her mouth, and slowly swallowed it.

She had been traveling for a month without eating properly, and she felt that her snake belly had shrunk from hunger.

...A snake that eats grass—a strange tale indeed.

But Silver Ring is a herbivore; she can't hunt live animals herself, not even fish in the river.

She did want to eat meat, but the mere thought of live creatures made her uneasy. She always felt that if she actually swallowed a live creature, she would be in grave danger.

Before meeting Luo Mang, in order to survive, Yin Huan abandoned her snake-like nature and instead ate grass like a sheep.

We've gone off on a tangent.

As Yin Huan ate the tender river grass, she pondered the events of the day.

Who was the person who caught her today? He was even stronger than her and said he was going to knock her teeth out.

Furthermore, when he threw her into the river, he said something like, "Go back to the mountains and cultivate obediently. Keep your original heart and don't act maliciously, only then can you cultivate the Great Dao."

Something about what he said seemed a bit off.

Cultivation?

What is that?

Cultivation... Cultivation... What exactly is cultivation?

The man's words were clearly directed at her. And there was a lot of goodwill in his words... as if he was doing it for her own good.

But what exactly is cultivation?

With the silver ring hooked around the snake's head, he pondered from nightfall until dawn the next day, still trapped in the problem of cultivation.

She had a feeling that something had taken root in her heart after that person uttered the word "cultivation." She felt that if she missed this opportunity, she would definitely regret it for the rest of her life.

For over three hundred years, Silver Ring lived in a daze, still unaware that she was actually a demon.

Moreover, it was a snake demon born with intelligence.

Even after she met Luo Mang and learned to speak, she still lived a muddled and aimless life.

Although she knew that she and her sworn brother seemed to be different from other people of the same kind, she couldn't quite figure out what the difference was.

Yin Huan had always been easygoing and not very quick-witted. This problem had troubled her, but after meeting Luo Mang, she completely abandoned it.

If there is someone in this world just like her, then what else is there for her to think about?

It's strange, but it's not like she's the only one who's acting strangely.

Now, she has brought up the question that had once troubled her from the depths of her heart again. She feels that if she doesn't figure this out, she will never be able to break through the fog in front of her.

A rosy glow appeared on the horizon, and the sky brightened.

Yin Huan shook her head, putting the question aside for the time being, planning to ask her sworn brother directly when she saw him again.

Her older brother was always smarter than her, so he must understand what that person meant... Moreover, she had a feeling that he could dispel the confusion in her heart.

After a night's rest, Silver Ring was full of energy and fully recovered.

She looked up at the sky, found her direction, flicked her tongue, and, taking advantage of the early morning when there were few pedestrians, crawled towards the direction of the zoo.
