Chapter 8 Enforcers

Silver Ring wasn't familiar with Penang. Fortunately, she wasn't directionally challenged, nor was she hopelessly clueless. After she and Mao Bai got out of the river the day before yesterday, she didn't remember anything else, but she did remember the direction of the zoo.

She felt that as long as she kept her eyes on this direction, she would definitely be able to reach the zoo.

However, on the other hand, that zoo was strange in every way, it really was odd.

Yin Huan shook the snake's head, dismissing the slight doubt that had risen in her heart, and decided to find Luo Mang and tell him about it so that he could make a decision.

If there's really a problem with the zoo, then he should take her to another zoo to stay at.

The idea was good, but little did she know that Luo Mang was also powerless to change the zoo.

The silver ring climbs and climbs, swims and swims!

Just when she felt her snakeskin was about to peel off, she finally saw the zoo standing beneath a cluster of tall buildings—its enclosure.

Upon arriving at the location, Yin Huan resorted to her old trick again, hiding herself once more among the greenery.

Silver Ring curled itself up into a ball, biting its little tail. Then, it stared unblinkingly at the open iron gate in front of it with its big, eerie green eyes.

Having learned from her failed attempt to smuggle herself in, Silver Ring decided not to try the same method as yesterday to enter the zoo, and she prepared to devise a new plan.

First, the gate is haunted; she can't climb through. Second, the risk of being boiled into soup by smuggling herself in with humans is extremely high.

...Silver Ring's head was in a knot, feeling it wasn't enough. If these two conditions were removed, how would she even get into the zoo?

The snake racked its brains—the sun was almost setting, but the tiny snake still couldn't come up with a solution.

Silver Ring looked dejected as she watched wave after wave of humans walk out of the zoo.

What to do, what to do—

The iron gate closed....

Watching the door close right in front of her, a thin mist welled up in Yin Huan's eyes, her bright eyes filled with grievance.

It's all that person's fault. Humph, she even thought he was a good person... Turns out he's a bad guy too. Anyone who tries to stop her from enjoying life is a bad guy.

Silver Ring spat out its little tail, its little head drooping listlessly on the ground, the whole snake looking so dejected that it evoked pity.

It's just a wall away!

She lay listlessly on the ground for most of the day, her dull eyes gradually regaining their sparkle. She tilted her head, a thoughtful look flashing in her eyes.

There must be rat holes in this wall. She saw the white rat enter the zoo with her own eyes...

Or should we wait until there are fewer pedestrians at night and then check it more carefully?

Thinking of this, Yin Huan felt much more at ease. Then, with her eyes open, she began to sleep, preparing to be well-rested for work that night.

Snakes, due to their unique body structure, lack eyelids, so their eyes never close. Let alone close them, they can barely even blink, let alone move their eyeballs.

Having made up her mind, Yin Huan was just about to go to sleep and rest when she saw the iron gate in front of her being pulled open a crack from the inside.

Yin Huan was startled and immediately stood up, wondering if there was a chance to go in.

Immediately afterwards, a man of well-proportioned build and a somewhat nonchalant appearance walked out of the door.

The man had a somewhat roguish air about him, but his features were extremely handsome.

He leaned against the door, limping slowly as he stepped out.

"Ah Fei, come quickly and help me, my legs hurt and I can't walk anymore." The man had only taken two steps when he gasped for breath. Then he hurriedly turned back and shouted into the doorway.

"Who told you to be so careless?" A deep voice rang out from inside the door, and soon, Huo Fei's tall figure appeared in Yin Huan's line of sight.

As soon as Huo Fei appeared, the silver-ringed snake, which was looking for an opportunity, paused and suddenly buried its head in the soft grass on the ground.

...Damn it, how could it be this big bad guy?

She had to hide well, she couldn't let him find her. It had taken her almost a whole day to climb back to the zoo.

Just as Silver Ring had hidden herself, the sound rang out again at the zoo entrance.

"You think I wanted this? If I'd known I'd break my leg, I would never have come to you. Ouch—it hurts so much, this leg is definitely ruined." The man's face was contorted with pain.

Huo Fei glared at him and said bluntly, "It's better that you're crippled, so you won't be wasting your time running around all day. Come on, I'll take you back to the temple first. Don't wander around lately..."

The man protested, "Hey, don't you have any sympathy? I got into trouble on your turf. You're not giving me an explanation, but instead you're blaming me."

Huo Fei: "Did I send you here? Don't you know what kind of place this is? It's good that you've learned your lesson; don't come here again."

The man was speechless, his face turning even uglier: "Hmph, fine, don't come then. What utter bad luck! How come there's someone with a bead in here... Sigh, I've got my bead back, but my leg isn't getting better. Is my leg really going to be useless?!"

Seeing his mournful appearance, Huo Fei finally spoke up to comfort him, saying, "Take good care of yourself, you'll get better in a year or two."

The man shook his head, as if he had thought of something. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he grabbed Huo Fei's clothes, asking, "By the way, did you catch that little thing today?"

"They caught him, but they've already released him."

"Release her?" The man exclaimed in shock and anger, "How could you just let her go? Hey, you're such a bad brother! She hurt me like this, and you still let her go. Isn't this place specifically for keeping them locked up?"

Huo Fei's eagle eyes pierced him: "I don't believe you didn't notice she was different from others. Have you forgotten the rules of law enforcement: to uphold justice, punish evil and promote good, and not show favoritism..."
