"Mom, Dad, don't worry. You said that those were just illnesses that Prince Gong had when he was a child. Maybe he's recovered now. Besides, Prince Gong is still so young. Maybe after I marry him, he will have children?" Jiang Meiyu said with a relaxed smile, trying to ease her parents' worries.
"Yu'er, are you so compromising for your parents? Your father said that as long as you don't agree, he will ask the emperor to revoke the imperial edict even if it costs him his life." Mrs. Jiang said while wiping her tears gently.
Jiang Meiyu's heart warmed, and she stepped forward to hold her mother's hand. "Mother, you and Father have misunderstood. I have not wronged myself. This marriage is not as bad as it seems. I sincerely want to marry His Royal Highness Prince Gong."
Madam Jiang looked at her with some doubt: "But Yu'er, His Royal Highness Prince Gong..."
Jiang Meiyu interrupted her mother, "Mother, please listen to me first. I met His Royal Highness Prince Gong once before. Although it was just a quick glimpse, it was enough to make me like him. He is handsome and majestic, and his every move exudes the royal demeanor. So I believe he would be a good husband."
Seeing her determination, Mrs. Jiang nodded and said, "Okay, since you've made up your mind, we as your parents can only support you. We just hope that you will be happy in the future."
Jiang Meiyu glanced at her mother gratefully, then turned to her father and said, "Father, I know you care about me, but I truly agree to this marriage. Please don't ask the Emperor to revoke his decision, or you might anger him."
Master Jiang sighed and nodded helplessly: "Forget it, since you have made up your mind, Dad will not say anything more. I just hope you will not regret your decision today in the future."
Jiang Meiyu answered firmly, "I will never regret it!" Then she knelt down and kowtowed to her parents, "Thank you so much, Mom and Dad, for your support."
Mrs. Jiang quickly helped her up, her eyes filled with reluctance: "Alright, alright, get up quickly. My Yu'er has grown up in the blink of an eye. It really makes me feel so emotional."
Jiang Meiyu stood up and hugged her mother tightly: "Mom, no matter where I am in the future, I will always miss you and Dad."
Mrs. Jiang smiled with relief: "Good boy, mother knows you are filial. Go, go and prepare for your wedding, I wish you all the best."
