Chapter 113 Crushing Through!
The moment the truck door closed gently, Lin Xi slumped into her seat, finally daring to breathe loudly.
When she was slowly walking with her crab-like gait, Lin Xi hadn't reacted when she saw hair in the square field of vision of her night vision glasses. It wasn't until the entire hideous face filled her field of vision that Lin Xi held her breath.
When people are suddenly frightened, they want to scream out of terror. She held back, but her half-step back caused her to step on Lu Wei and Xiang Xin's feet.
"Awooo!" The zombie noticed the anomaly and raised its hands and bared its teeth and claws like a gorilla.
"Clang!" Lin Xi quickly recovered and knocked the zombie's head off with the stick.
During the day, zombies inflict physical damage, but at night, zombies that suddenly appear can also inflict magical damage on people.
This is like someone who is very skilled in martial arts but is afraid of ghosts.
Xiang Xin, however, found it thrilling and exciting, and patted Lin Xi on the shoulder to comfort her:
"It's okay, I'll just watch more horror movies in the future."
Although it was very difficult, Lin Xi really intended to do it.
If I have the time and opportunity to watch some horror movies, I won't be afraid of zombies suddenly appearing in my face during nighttime battles.
As soon as Lu Wei and Liang Hui got into the car, they started frantically taking off their clothes.
Each of them wore three layers of clothing and gear, and they were already covered in sweat from running around outdoors in the summer heat.
Lu Wei: "Fasten your seatbelt. The engine noise will attract zombies, so I'll be driving very fast."
The truck started making a loud noise, and with the headlights off, visibility was poor. Lin Xi could vaguely see several dark figures approaching.
However, trucks have the advantage of a sturdy exterior, a high field of vision, and are not easily breached by zombies.
The truck's movements were quite noticeable, quickly attracting the attention of the nearby zombies.
Looking in the rearview mirror, you can see zombies relentlessly following you in the darkness behind you.
But the trucks couldn't move fast through the streets, where there were fighting debris and bodies on the ground, as well as cars stopped in the middle because of accidents involving their owners.
Those that couldn't dodge were rammed directly into, and the honking horns and alarms lured more zombies from the residential area onto the streets.
Once the truck was on the highway, it was able to pick up speed, shake off the zombies, and enter a stable operating state.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin Xi gently tapped on the glass: "Bulletproof?"
Lu Wei responded.
Liang Hui frantically fanned himself with his hands: "Brother Lu, please turn on the air conditioning for a while, it's too hot."
Although the sun was no longer shining directly at night, it was still very hot with four people crammed into a small space.
Lu Wei: "Let's save some gas."
Lin Xi asked curiously, "What's inside the carriage?"
Lu Wei: "Gasoline, some water, and compressed biscuits, but not much."
He explained, “I’m a police officer, so I probably won’t need the things in the house and car. I’m just preparing these things in case of emergency. Food can be found anywhere, and these two trucks are mainly for refueling during the transfer.”
"That means there are very few survival supplies."
Lin Xi was somewhat relieved: "I also prepared a truck, otherwise how would we put the supplies for the four of us?"
Xiang Xin hugged Lin Xi's right hand, paused for a moment, then bent down and hugged her right leg: "This is one of the benefits of following a reborn person!"
After about 40 minutes of driving, the truck entered an old urban village.
It was pitch black.
But Lin Xi knew that many eyes were watching the truck making the noise from a distance.
The truck stopped at the warehouse where Lin Xi parked his truck. Lin Xi picked up a baseball bat and waited to open the door. There were several zombies nearby that had come after hearing the noise. He needed to deal with them quickly and move them into Lin Xi's truck as soon as possible to avoid being surrounded by the zombie horde.
But Lu Wei's trucks cannot be abandoned either, as they contain important gasoline resources.
Lu Wei and Xiang Xin stayed in the original truck, while Lin Xi and Liang Hui went to the other truck.
The reason for this assignment is that only Lin Xi and Lu Wei had prior experience driving trucks.
As soon as Lin Xi got out of the car, she knocked down several zombies that were too close and ran wildly towards her car.
The zombies surged after the footsteps. Just as Lin Xi got into the driver's seat and closed the door, a zombie hand reached in and scratched Lin Xi's leg.
Fortunately, she was wearing pants made of a special material, so they didn't tear immediately. Lin Xi kicked the zombie away and closed the door.
I only regret that my leg strength wasn't enough to kick the zombie's head off.
On the other side, Liang Hui also got into the passenger seat without any major incident.
Lin Xi turned the key to start the engine, and there was a loud "boom".
Both cars drove off at the same time.
The truck's noise attracted the zombies in pursuit.
Liang Hui asked directly, "Why are there more zombies chasing your car than chasing Brother Lu's car?"
Lin Xi was also a little puzzled.
Her watch suddenly vibrated; it was a call from Xiang Xin.
"Sister Xi, we're heading towards the East China Highway now. Lu Wei has something to tell you."
Lu Wei's voice came from the other end, answering Lin Xi's question: "The red reflectors on the back of the truck will turn on automatically."
The zombies were attracted by the moving light source.
Lin Xi simply bought a truck and made some modifications, but he doesn't drive it much, which is indeed a problem he overlooked.
Lin Xi said into the phone, "You guys speed up and get ahead of us, stay away from us."
Liang Hui: "What do you want to do?"
Xiang Xin and Lu Wei didn't ask any more questions, and the truck to their left immediately pulled away.
Lin Xi didn't explain, but instead glanced at Liang Hui to make sure he was wearing his seatbelt, and reminded him, "Hold on tight."
Lin Xi floored the accelerator, the roar suddenly changed direction, but it also put distance between him and the zombies.
Liang Hui silently watched her movements, looking at the zombies getting further and further away in the rearview mirror. "Is that all? I thought you were going to speed up."
However, the next moment, he was suddenly thrown forward by inertia and pulled back into his seat by the seatbelt.
Lin Xi shifted into reverse and sped back into the horde of zombies, running over the zombies that were facing the rear of the car.
The truck swayed on the uneven pile of corpses as it continued its rapid retreat, eventually reaching the rear of the zombie horde.
She retreated too quickly, and the two marker lights were small; she disappeared from the zombies' sight in an instant, leaving them somewhat bewildered.
Lin Xi shifted into drive and floored the accelerator.
In the distance, Lu Wei and Xiang Xin watched from a truck parked at the corner.
The truck roared forward, and several zombies flew up and slammed to the ground. The zombies that landed headfirst trembled and tried to get up.
The truck roared backward, crushing the zombies on the ground.
The truck made this round trip several times.
Xiang Xin stared in disbelief from inside the car, her eyes sparkling: "I can't imagine how excited I would be if I were sitting in Sister Xi's car right now."
Liang Hui, who was fortunate enough to be sitting in the passenger seat of Lin Xi's car, finally recovered. He was almost nauseous from the sudden acceleration and stop.
Lin Xi: "Hold on."
Because there were still two zombies on the roof, she had to brake suddenly again to throw them off.
Lin Xi once again demonstrated his driving skills on the wide highway, accelerating and then suddenly stopping. The zombie on top fell to the ground due to inertia and was run over by the truck.
Liang Hui was truly seeing stars and gagged twice.
Lin Xi calmly turned on the windshield washer fluid, rinsing away the blood and rotten flesh on the glass.
