Chapter 2 Ha! I'm alive!

Chapter 2 Ha! I'm alive!

Lin Xi stared blankly at the huge 9.55 on the computer screen.

She clearly remembered being trampled to death by a zombie, but now she was back at her workstation, and the timeline had been pushed back 5 minutes.

Was what just happened a dream?

Lin Xi looked at the food delivery order and saw that the rider would deliver in 5 minutes. She pinched her arm hard, and cried out in pain.

A cold female voice rang out: "Is the coffee you ordered ready? What were you calling for?"

It was 360, and it was staring at her with a stern look.

Lin Xi was in so much pain that tears streamed down her face, and she suddenly realized what was happening—

She was reborn!

Ignoring 360's chatter, Lin Xi ran to the window and peeked out. The outside was calm and peaceful, with only a few scattered people on the weekday streets. There was nothing unusual.

Five minutes later, at 10 o'clock, the company's alarm will sound repeatedly, followed by zombies.

The company's alarm went off too late; by then, the zombies had already entered the lobby, and the people upstairs were probably in grave danger.

Lin Xi was on the verge of tears: What's the use of being reborn 5 minutes earlier? It would have been better if I had just died, so I wouldn't have had to live in fear.

Although that's what I thought, I couldn't really waste the chance to be reborn.

Faced with 360's questioning, Lin Xi slammed her hand on the table and stood up, drawing the attention of most of the office. She took a deep breath and shouted, "The zombies are coming! Run for your lives!!"

"..."

"..."

The entire office fell silent, and everyone stared at her as if she were an idiot.

Obviously, nobody believed it.

After all, in the previous life, the building's public address system played an alarm on a loop, so no one ran away.

"You guys aren't running, huh? Then I'm running first!" Lin Xi turned and rushed towards the elevator.

She knew it would be difficult to convince people of this, but she had already done her part by reporting it, and her own survival was the priority.

Lin Xi took the elevator and arrived downstairs 3 minutes earlier than in her previous life. There were no zombies at the building entrance yet, and the security guard was still diligently guarding the access control.

Lin Xi sprinted over, leaping over the gate in one bound, shouting, "Uncle, run! Zombies are coming!!"

"This young lady..." came the whispers of the security guards behind her, "Did you apply for leave on DingTalk?"

Lin Xi couldn't hear her and dashed out onto the street. The area was surrounded by office buildings, and since it was a weekday, there were hardly any people on the street.

She ran towards the subway station, trying to escape home for refuge. Although it would take at least 50 minutes, going home seemed to be the safest and most secure place to seek refuge.

However, things didn't go as planned. As Lin Xi was running, she bumped into a food delivery driver. The driver was knocked down by her sudden movement, and the coffee in his bag spilled all over the ground.

Lin Xi should have paid for his coffee; delivering food isn't easy, but now she had no choice but to run for her life.

However, he was only halfway through pulling his leg when the delivery guy grabbed him. Lying on the ground, the guy twisted his neck and said in a hoarse voice, "You... pay... money..."

Lin Xi, with her sharp eyes, spotted the last four digits of her phone number on the delivery order. It turned out that she had ordered this coffee. She shook off the delivery guy's hand and shouted, "I ordered this coffee, you don't have to pay for it!"

But the young man remained unmoved. Lin Xi felt the hand gripping her leg tightening, and she couldn't shake it off no matter how hard she tried. Just as she was about to turn around to check what was happening, she suddenly felt a sharp, tearing pain in her leg, which made Lin Xi yell "Aww!" again.

When she saw it clearly, her pupils contracted sharply—

The deliveryman's eyes rolled upwards, revealing bloodshot whites, and his mouth was full of blood, which came from his own leg.

Help!

ah!

I've already been bitten by a zombie!

Lin Xi quickly realized that since the thing on the ground wasn't a person but a zombie, she didn't need to care about manners or morality. She kicked it away and ran away.

But as Lin Xi ran, she slowly stopped. Looking at her bleeding wound, her eyes welled up, and tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

She realized with a start that she had been bitten by a zombie. According to scenes from movies she had seen before, the transmission route of the zombie virus was similar to that of the rabies virus, usually spreading through bites and scratches, and infection would occur once bleeding occurred.

!

He was reborn, but now he's going to turn into a zombie.

Lin Xi stopped and hesitated: should she continue to run away, or lie down and wait to turn into a zombie?

But soon, without her even needing to think, her situation forced her to make a choice. Five zombies discovered her presence and pounced on her, twisting their limbs in exaggerated manner.

Five...

The image of herself being devoured flashed through Lin Xi's mind, and she felt a chill run down her spine. Fear drove her to turn and run away.

As she ran, Lin Xi felt her legs were unsteady and she tripped over her own feet, falling to the ground. Just as the zombie opened its blood-red mouth and lunged at her, she was ready to resign herself to her fate and die, when suddenly a surge of heat swept over her entire body.

She suddenly stood up uncontrollably, in a very strange posture—

She felt her legs were now bowed, and her head was twisted to one side as if she had a stiff neck, unable to straighten it, and her mouth was drooling uncontrollably.

It looks like a stroke.

The zombies that were about to pounce on her suddenly lost interest and turned away in twos and threes in other directions.

"Hey..." Lin Xi called out with her bowed legs and stiff neck, only a hoarse roar could be heard.

Is this my own voice?

Lin Xi walked with difficulty, her steps unsteady, until she reached the building. The building's outer perimeter was made of reflective glass, and Lin Xi saw her reflection in the glass:

Her nose was crooked, her eyes were slanted, her eyeballs rolled upwards, her tongue was sticking out and she couldn't bring it back, her hands were clasped inwards, and her legs were indeed bowed, which made her look much shorter.

No, she knew she was no longer human; she was dead and had become a zombie.

But she didn't expect that zombies could retain their consciousness.

"Waaah..." Lin Xi cried a few times in an unpleasant voice. Who wouldn't be heartbroken to see a young man transformed into such an ugly thing?

But then she changed her mind. The zombie that had been about to attack her lost interest in her after seeing her turn into a zombie and turned away.

Does this mean I can survive as a zombie?

"Aaaaaahh ...

"Help me!!!!!"

Screams came from inside the building. Hearing the noise, Lin Xi uncontrollably wanted to get closer to the source of the sound.

So she stiffened her neck, walked with her bow legs, and rushed into the building while wildly flicking her tongue.

Even after turning into a zombie, Lin Xi felt embarrassed about her current appearance.

The lobby on the first floor of the building was already in a terrible state, with zombies attacking and biting people everywhere.

Lin Xi felt a pang of sadness, her mouth felt sour, her mouth watered, and her stomach rumbled. Involuntarily, she rushed toward the living person.

Don't go! Don't go!

She tried hard to control her bowed legs and not want to go towards living people, but she couldn't control them. Her bowed legs made chasing people effortless.

She quickly tackled someone to the ground. The person she tackled was crying with tears streaming down their face. The face looked familiar; it was Zhou Ling from 360.

Zhou Ling's usually serious, expressionless face was now very lively; she looked like a frightened kitten, crying and pleading for help.

Lin Xi was both amused and exasperated. She had fantasized countless times about one day making things difficult for 360, so that 360 would be afraid of her. She never expected that this fantasy would come true.

360, who was pinned down by Lin Xi, struggled even more in terror when he saw her smile.

Lin Xi's hands instinctively grabbed Zhou Ling's arm, and his tongue, which was hanging out of his mouth, was already drooling. He couldn't wait to lick Zhou Ling's arm.

"Eek!" Lin Xi screamed inwardly: How could someone do such a despicable thing?!

But she couldn't control herself and opened her mouth to bite it.

Zhou Ling was bitten and cried out in pain.

Lin Xi bit someone and cried out in self-reproach.

While uncontrollably biting people, his inner monologue was frantic:

Oops, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, oops, I didn't mean it either, oops, oops, it smells so good...
