124 Two Faces
It's that car
One night passes in a flash.
At seven o'clock in the morning, Qi Qiuxue boarded the bus to the film set. While eating breakfast, she listened to the people on the bus whispering gossip.
A little blonde girl said that the hotel seemed to be haunted. When she got up last night to go to the bathroom, she saw a dark shadow that flashed by. The shadow was not big, about the size of a child. It suddenly ran past her eyes, scaring her so much that she broke out in a cold sweat.
"Is it because the light is bad at night and you are sleepy and you saw it wrongly?" someone asked.
"Maybe." The man shook his head, not daring to dwell on it. "Maybe I've just been under too much pressure lately."
"Then what about that laughter I heard a few days ago?" Another person frowned, a little apprehensive. "That laughter sounded so clear, like the laughter of a child only a few months old. It was so clear it seemed to be coming from my pillow."
"Are you dreaming, or are you hallucinating?"
"I don't know. This is really weird. Woohoo! Please finish the movie soon! I'm so scared! I want to go home."
"Oh, there's one more thing." The blonde girl who spoke first lowered her voice and said mysteriously, "I'm telling you, Brother Xia was really scary last night."
"What's wrong?"
"I happen to live upstairs from Brother Xia. Late at night, I occasionally hear noises coming from his room. He seems to have been up all night last night and is extremely agitated. Sometimes he's throwing things around, sometimes he's pacing around loudly, and he keeps repeating something. I listened carefully for a while and realized he's in pain."
"pain?"
"Yes, it hurts. My face hurts, my arms hurt, my chest hurts, my stomach hurts..." The little girl raised her hands and rubbed her arms, saying in fear, "Is he possessed? What's going on?"
No one knew the answer. The bus turned left and right and finally stopped at the set.
After entering the studio, Qi Qiuxue found that wherever she looked, there was swirling smoke, and the air was filled with a strange smell, which was very similar to the smell she and Li Yiqing smelled on Xia Jian that night.
"Come over here." Noticing Qi Qiuxue coming in, a staff member waved at her.
"Good morning, Sister Zhao." Qi Qiuxue greeted everyone.
"Yeah." Sister Zhao nodded, took out a bottle of liquid from somewhere, poured a few drops into the palm of her hand, and suddenly sprinkled it in the direction of Qi Qiuxue. Then she took out a huge leaf and patted and swept Qi Qiuxue's body.
"What are you doing?" Qi Qiuxue asked.
Sister Zhao: "To exorcise evil spirits. Director Xiao said things have been a bit turbulent on the set lately, and maybe some evil spirit is causing trouble. This will bring good luck."
"You know, most people in this industry are very superstitious." Sister Zhao laughed helplessly and added, "By the way, Director Xiao also said that after work this afternoon, don't leave. Someone will come to perform a ritual."
"Is it also for exorcism?" Qi Qiuxue asked.
Sister Zhao shrugged and said nothing: "Come on, next one."
“…”
The shooting lasted until four in the afternoon. Compared with the previous few days, today was the earliest day to end.
Because of the director's special reminder, all the actors and staff gathered together except Xia Jian who was absent early in the morning. The incense with a strange smell was burned on the scene again. After a short wait, a man who had never been seen before walked in.
He had unkempt long hair, eyes almost covered by bangs, messy stubble, and old and worn clothes. He also smelled bad, like garbage that had been piled up for a long time in the summer, rotting and corrupting.
As he passed by the crowd, everyone frowned unconsciously, except for the director, who walked up to him as if he didn't care at all, hugged him warmly a few times, and whispered something to him.
Then the man began to perform a ritual. He took out a few talismans, muttered a series of spells, and then lit them with fire. He poured all the burnt ashes into the water prepared in advance and ordered people to sprinkle the water in every corner of the set.
After doing this, he took out a thick stack of talismans from his backpack again and distributed one to everyone present, saying that they could be used to ward off evil spirits.
Qi Qiuxue lowered her eyes to look at the talisman in her hand. There were holes on both sides of the talisman. On the front was a pattern painted with red oil paint, exactly the same as the one they saw on Xia Jian's eye mask that night. On the back were a few large characters written -
【Ajiemolu, Vikebuye.】
“…”
Qi Qiuxue quickly raised her head and called out to the man, "Master, does this talisman really work?"
"Are you questioning me?" The man stopped and turned around. Qi Qiuxue saw the man's eyes through his thick bangs. They were a pair of cloudy eyes with three whites on the lower sclera. His gaze was sharp and fierce, giving people a very uncomfortable feeling.
"No." Qi Qiuxue shook her head, "I was just asking casually."
"Normally, there won't be any mistakes, unless you encounter a fierce ghost that had a deep grudge against you in life. If that's the case, a talisman won't be able to do anything to it."
"Then what should we do?" Qi Qiuxue met his gaze.
The man snorted coldly, his eyes subconsciously glancing to the right. After a moment, he said, "Why are you asking so many details? For you, a talisman is enough."
After he finished speaking, he turned and left.
Li Yiqing walked up from behind Qi Qiuxue and said softly, "Xue, did you notice his unintentional behavior just now?"
"Yeah." Qi Qiuxue nodded in response and cast a glance to the right and behind her like a man, "He's looking at someone."
"Xiao Zaiyou, Director Xiao."
-
Somewhat unexpectedly, the man did not follow the bus to the hotel, and the director never mentioned anything about Xia Jian, as if he had completely given up on Xia Jian and forgotten her existence.
This was the most peaceful and ordinary night ever. Perhaps it was because the spell really worked, nothing strange happened tonight. Everyone got enough sleep and rested their spirits. They got up, dressed and washed up full of energy.
Until suddenly a scream was heard from downstairs.
Qi Qiuxue and Li Yiqing looked at each other, and immediately put down what they were doing and rushed downstairs. Some people had already come into the long and narrow corridor and gathered in front of Xia Jian's door. Standing in the front were Xia Jian's assistant and hotel staff with horror written all over their faces.
"What happened?" Qi Qiuxue pushed through the crowd and squeezed to the front to look into the house. She found Xia Jian lying on the ground with a ferocious face and bared fangs. Judging from his condition and the stiffness of his body, he had obviously been dead for a long time.
His body was almost naked, with only a piece of underwear on his private parts. His face and body were covered with holes of varying sizes and degrees of damage.
During the time when he was locked up and not seeing anyone, Xia Jian seemed to be in constant pain. His body seemed to be rotting from the inside, bleeding and oozing pus. There were traces of his blood in every corner of the room, as if a brutal massacre had occurred, but the murderer could not be found at the scene, only the victim himself.
But these are not the most terrifying things——
The most terrifying thing was that Qi Qiuxue saw traces of scars emerging from inside Xia Jian's body, including handprints, footprints, and various potholes. It was as if there was one or even several people imprisoned in his body, trying desperately to crawl out.
Qi Qiuxue even saw an even more terrifying pattern on his abdomen.
There were two faces, one female and one male. The female face was not very recognizable, and one could only vaguely make out that it looked like almond-shaped eyes. However, the male face had a very distinct feature that reminded Qi Qiuxue of what the netizen had said before -
[Xia Jian's father had a scar on his left cheek from childhood.]
"The ghost in Xia Jian's body seems to be his mother and father." After a brief silence, Qi Qiuxue took a deep breath and asked Li Yiqing and Su beside her in a low voice.
"What..." Su Wen's eyes widened when he heard this, completely confused as to what was going on. "Why are his family members in his body?"
"Do you remember what I told you about the car accident?" Qi Qiuxue said in a deep voice.
"Remember, you said Xia Jian's mom and dad had a brake failure while driving, and they accidentally hit the guardrail next to them and died on the spot."
"Perhaps the previous reports were wrong. The two did not die instantly, but died in agony. After the car hit the guardrail, they were all trapped inside. Even though they struggled hard and called for help, they were ultimately unable to escape. This obsession and regret even continued after their deaths."
"Look at Xia Jian's body." Qi Qiuxue's voice was very soft.
"Perhaps the corresponding object is the car that trapped them in the first place."
