Chapter 3-Red Fire Sect

Chapter 3-Red Fire Sect

Bai Xiaolu noticed this person the moment she came in, simply because she looked so much like her grandmother. Just now, Bai Xiaolu was still thinking about whether to buy two.

"Old bastard!" The leading Scarlet Fire Sect warrior kicked the old woman's shabby cart with such force that the entire cart shook violently, and the several sugar figures stuck on it trembled and almost fell off. "This month's 'protection fee'! Ten low-grade spirit stones! Hurry!"

The old woman shuddered with fear, dropping the sugar spoon in her hand to the black stone floor. She raised her head tremblingly, her cloudy eyes filled with fear and pleading, "Master...Master...Immortal...I just handed you over...this...this small business...I really...I really..." Trembling, she pulled a small, shriveled cloth bag from her bosom. Inside was a few scattered, dull, low-grade spirit stones, probably less than five in total.

"Not enough?!" The sturdy man glared at the man, his eyes full of ferocity. "You're using this little bit of spiritual stones to treat a beggar? I think you can't keep this shabby candy stall! It's bad luck!" As he spoke, he swept his big hand like a palm leaf fan towards the blown sugar figures on the stall! His movements were rough, and it was obvious that he wanted to destroy them all!

"No!" The old woman let out a shrill wail and rushed forward desperately to protect her precious child.

"Get out of here!" A henchman behind the burly man grinned and kicked the old woman's hunched body! This kick was filled with spiritual power. If it landed firmly, the frail old woman would be seriously injured if not killed!

Everyone in the market closed their eyes, unable to bear to watch any longer.

Just when the foot wearing hard-soled leather boots was about to kick the old woman's waist!

A crisp sound so slight that it was almost negligible.

It was the sound of a soup spoon dropping into a stoneware pot.

Almost instantly, the ferocious Red Fire Sect henchman who had raised his foot to kick someone suddenly froze in mid-air! The smirk on his face froze, replaced by a look of utter terror! He felt a cold, slippery, and terrifyingly paralyzing aura, like countless tiny venomous snakes, instantly creeping up along his ankles! Wherever it passed, muscles stiffened, bones chilled, and spiritual energy froze like a frozen stream, completely unable to flow!

He wanted to scream, but only "ho ho" sounds came out of his throat. His whole body seemed to be under a spell of immobilization. He kept standing in a funny posture with his foot raised as if to kick, and only his eyeballs could move in fear.

The leading burly man and another henchman also noticed something was amiss. They turned their heads abruptly, scanning the crowd with fierce eyes: "Who?! Who dares to meddle in the affairs of the Red Fire Sect?!"

Their gazes finally settled on the strangely fragrant soup stall in the corner. Luo Hongyi was slowly wiping her hands with a relatively clean cloth, as if she had just accidentally dropped her spoon. She didn't even glance at the Red Fire Sect members, her gaze fixed on the frightened little girl hiding behind the old woman's cart. The little girl was clutching a candied bird figurine that had just fallen to the ground and had half its wing broken off, tears streaming down her face.

"Tsk, so noisy." Luo Hongyi finally raised her eyelids lazily and looked at the three Red Fire Sect monks. Her tone was flat, as if she was evaluating the concentration of evil energy today, "You disturbed the peace and even scared the children to tears."

"You did this?!" The leading man's eyes glared, his hand resting on the crimson longsword at his waist. A scorching aura began to rise. Unable to discern Luo Hongyi's true intentions, he simply assumed she was using some cunning tactics. "You're looking for death!" He roared, his longsword clanking half an inch out of its sheath. The blade, crimson red, released a scorching wave of energy that spread outwards.

However, just as his sword was half an inch out of its sheath, his movement suddenly stopped!

An indescribable, horrifying sense of crisis, a scalp-blasting sensation, pierced the back of his neck like an icy, poisonous needle! The feeling was so sudden, so clear, as if an invisible, cold, slippery venomous snake had tightly wrapped around his neck, its fangs pressing against his artery! The shadow of death had never been so real!

Cold sweat instantly soaked his back! He froze in place, his half-sheathed sword seemingly welded shut, not daring to move an inch! The other henchman behind him turned pale as paper, his legs trembling uncontrollably.

Luo Hongyi seemed oblivious to their reactions. She bent down and picked up a small, dark, and inconspicuous earthenware pot from beside her soup pot. This was the pot she had just exchanged with a hunter outside the market.

She walked to the old woman's stall, ignored the three Red Fire Sect monks who seemed to be petrified, and gently placed the earthenware jar on the stall.

"Old woman," Luo Hongyi's voice was flat, but it had a strange soothing power that calmed the frightened old woman down a little. "Can I exchange this little bit of 'black pepper' for a candy man?" She pointed at the white deer who was staring at her from the side.

The old woman was still in shock. She looked at the beautiful woman in front of her, whose temperament was a little strange. Then she looked at the jar of black powder, and then at the three Red Fire Sect evil spirits standing motionless beside her as if they were possessed by an evil spirit. She didn't dare to say no. She just nodded repeatedly with trembling hands: "Fairy...Fairy...you...you can take it...just take it..."

"Thank you." Luo Hongyi picked up the golden and lifelike little rabbit candy and threw it to the white deer behind him.

Bai Xiaolu smiled, clutching the candy figure tightly. She extended her pink tongue and carefully licked it. Her watery eyes instantly narrowed into crescents of happiness. "Thank you, grandma," Bai Xiaolu said, placing the money for the candy figure on the stall.

Luo Hongyi couldn't help but smile in his heart. His junior sister was just adorable. No matter how mature she looked on the surface, she was still a teenager after all.

Luo Hongyi slowly turned around, her gaze finally landing on the three Red Fire Sect cultivators. Her eyes were still lazy, even a little impatient at being interrupted.

"You," she began, her voice low but clear to the ears of the three, like a venomous snake hissing in their ears, "are blocking the way."

"vomit--!"

The leading burly man and the unimpressed henchman bent over almost simultaneously and vomited violently! What they vomited out wasn't filth, but a dark green, sticky liquid with a pungent, spicy smell! The liquid immediately made a corrosive "hissing" sound as it fell to the ground, emitting a pungent white smoke!

The immobilized henchman finally regained his mobility, but his first reaction was to vomit dark green venom onto the ground! The three men collapsed to the ground, convulsing as if their bones had been pulled out. Their faces turned from pale to blue, then black. They were in so much pain that they couldn't even scream, only uttering gasps, their eyes filled with utter terror.

The market was dead silent.

Everyone stared in horror at the plain-clothed woman in the corner, her face still calm. They looked at the girl beside her, calmly licking a candy figurine. They also looked at the three Red Fire Sect monks on the ground, their throats seemingly strangled by invisible, poisonous hands, nearing death. The pot of dark green soup, still bubbling, now looked like a poisonous fountain from hell!
