Chapter 60 Lin Xiaoxue's son has gone mad

For the next few days, I had a very comfortable time. After delivering packages each day, there weren't many packages to pick up, so I would lie on the bed in the small room and watch movies. The nights at the delivery station were also very peaceful, and those two ghostly cats never appeared again.

Tong Liu has already paid his tuition to Hu Ergou, and he spends all his free time learning how to catch ghosts from Hu Ergou, while I haven't found a master to teach me.

That day, I got up early to clock in for work as usual. Lin Xiaoxue was supposed to come to the courier station today, but I never saw her.

After I finished delivering the packages, it was already past 3 p.m. When I returned to my little house and was about to lie down, my phone suddenly vibrated and then rang. I picked it up and saw that it was an unknown number.

So he answered the phone and asked, "Hello, who is this? What's up?"

"Changming, it's me, Lin Xiaoxue." I heard a woman's voice coming from the phone.

"Oh, is there something wrong?" I was quite surprised because Lin Xiaoxue had never called me before. If I needed to find them, I would call Zhong Lingui.

"Changming, are you free? Could you come to my house now and help me persuade your brother Zhong?" Lin Xiaoxue's voice came through the phone, sounding a little choked up.

"What happened?" I asked curiously.

"Come over here and we'll talk," Lin Xiaoxue said before hanging up the phone.

Without much hesitation, I immediately got up, put on my shoes, and rode my electric bike out of the courier station.

Zhong Lingui's home is about seven or eight kilometers from the town, in a village called Jiangping. I went there once before to help Zhong Lingui move furniture. All four of us deliverymen went, and Lin Xiaoxue even cooked a delicious meal to welcome us.

About 20 minutes later, I arrived at Zhong Lingui's house on my electric bike. His house is a red brick building, only one story, about 100 square meters. The exterior walls are not decorated, but the interior is. It has one living room and three bedrooms, where Zhong Lingui and his family of three live. Zhong Lingui also has an elderly mother, but she does not live with them. Instead, she lives in their old house, which is not far away, about one kilometer away. After Zhong Lingui and his family go to work, his mother will come out to help take care of the child.

At this moment, the gate of Zhong Lingui's house was tightly closed, but the faint sound of voices could be heard inside.

I parked the car, walked up and knocked on the door, saying, "Brother Zhong, this is Zuo Changming."

A moment later, the door opened, and Lin Xiaoxue opened it. I saw that she looked haggard and her eyes were red and swollen, obviously having cried for a long time.

"Changming, come in." Lin Xiaoxue said, then turned and went back inside.

I followed Lin Xiaoxue inside, and the scene before me made me pause for a moment. Lin Xiaoxue's house was in complete disarray. The sofa had several large holes in it, apparently slashed by a knife. The television was smashed, and the teacups on the coffee table were gone. Judging from the wet marks on the floor, it had obviously been cleaned up.

"Sister Lin, where's Brother Zhong? What happened?" I asked Lin Xiaoxue with a furrowed brow.

Judging from the state of Lin Xiaoxue's house, it was obviously damaged by vandalism. Did the couple have a fight?

Just as I was waiting for Lin Xiaoxue's answer, a child's scream came from the inner room. Zhong Lingui heard the sound, her expression changed, and she hurriedly went to open the door and went in.

The door wasn't closed, and I followed Lin Xiaoxue to the doorway. Looking inside, I saw Zhong Lingui sitting by the bed, and on the bed lay a six or seven-year-old boy, tied up with a rope, struggling and screaming pitifully.

The little boy's face was flushed, and the veins on his neck were bulging. His eyes, in particular, gave me a creepy feeling; they were terrifying.

"Son, son, how are you? Don't scare your mother, okay?" Lin Xiaoxue went straight to the bedside and kept comforting the little boy on the bed.

"You all should die! Why don't you all die?" the little boy yelled at Lin Xiaoxue, his eyes blazing with anger.

"Son, what's wrong with you? Why did you attack us?" Zhong Lingui asked anxiously, leaning over the little boy.

But the little boy wouldn't listen at all, struggling and cursing as if he had some irreconcilable hatred for Zhong Lingui and his wife.

"Waaah, son, what's wrong with you? Please don't cry, Mommy, okay?" Lin Xiaoxue's tears fell drop by drop as she sobbed.

Although I didn't know exactly what had happened, I could guess that Lin Xiaoxue's son was acting very strangely.

I wanted to say something, but I didn't know what to say. The tense and helpless expressions on Lin Xiaoxue and Zhong Lingui's faces deeply pierced my heart. As a child or a parent, seeing your loved ones in trouble is an incredibly painful experience.

After struggling for two or three minutes, Zhong Lingui's son rolled his eyes and fainted.

Zhong Lingui covered his son with the blanket, said something to Lin Xiaoxue, nodded to me, and walked towards the living room.

"Changming, Xiaoxue asked you to come, right? Hey, sit down and chat." Zhong Lingui's eyes were red, and her face was full of exhaustion, as if she hadn't slept for days and nights.

I followed Zhong Lingui to the sofa and sat down. Lin Xiaoxue also came out of the room and sat down next to Zhong Lingui.

"Brother Zhong, what exactly happened?" I took out a cigarette and handed it to Zhong Lingui, asking as I spoke.

Zhong Lingui took the cigarette, lit it, and took a few deep drags. His voice was low as he said, "Ever since your sister-in-law took her to see a master that day, my son has become even more abnormal. He gets angry easily, hits people, and smashes things, especially your sister-in-law. He kicks and hits her, and even tried to stab her with a knife. I had no choice but to tie him up, but this can't go on. He hasn't eaten for a day and a night. He wakes up every few hours and goes crazy every time he wakes up."

"How could this happen? Have you taken him to the hospital?" I stubbed out my cigarette and asked.

“We don’t know either. We took him to the town hospital, but they couldn’t find anything wrong. He almost bit the doctor. The hospital suggested we take him to a big hospital in the provincial capital.” Lin Xiaoxue said, wiping away tears with a tissue.

"So what are you planning to do now?" No wonder Lin Xiaoxue didn't go to work today. I never imagined her son would have such a big problem. But I don't understand why she called me over and said she wanted to persuade Zhong Lingui. What exactly does she mean by that?

“Your brother Zhong wants to take him to a big hospital for a checkup, but I think we should find a powerful sorcerer to take a look. We even had a fight about it. I wanted to ask you to come over and hear your opinion,” Lin Xiaoxue said apologetically, glancing at me.

"Changming, what's your opinion? You said you've seen something evil. Then take a look and see if my son has been afflicted by it." Zhong Lingui also turned her gaze to me and asked.

I fell silent upon hearing this. Zhong Lingui's son was behaving so strangely. The hospital couldn't find anything wrong with him, and he would hit anyone he saw. I guess he was the one who smashed all these things in the lobby.

I just observed Zhong Lingui's son carefully, and apart from his unusual appearance, I really couldn't see any trace of anything dirty.
