With the help of the flashing lights, a urine stain had appeared at Hu Tudao's feet and was slowly expanding outwards.
I felt disgusted and wanted to push Hu Tudao away, but he was holding me too tightly. I tried twice but failed.
Tong Liu didn't notice that Hu Tudao had wet himself in fear. He trembled as he looked around and asked in a trembling voice, "Changming, what should we do now?"
I gently shook my head, indicating that I didn't know what to do either.
Just then, the music stopped, but the lights on the roof were still flashing.
"Waaaaah...waaaah..."
Suddenly, a little girl's crying voice rang out in the dance studio, her voice incredibly ethereal and desolate.
"Could you...let us out? We...we didn't mean any harm," I stammered, swallowing hard.
The dance studio suddenly became very quiet. I couldn't hear anything except my own heartbeat. In this situation, the eerie silence was even more chilling.
"Ah, I can't take it anymore, I want to go home, boohoo." Just then, Hu Tudao, who was hugging me, suddenly shouted and then started to sob.
"Hehe..." The little girl's ethereal voice rang out again in the dance studio, and this time it was laughter, but it sounded incredibly eerie to the ear.
Then, the lights in the dance studio went out again, and the surroundings were plunged into darkness once more.
Tong Liu grabbed my hand immediately and pressed his body tightly against mine.
Hu Tudao, perhaps because his legs were weak, sat down hard on the ground. I could even feel the urine he stirred up when he sat down splashing onto my feet.
At that moment, I couldn't care less about feeling nauseous. I reached out to pull Hu Tudao up, but he clung tightly to my leg and remained sitting on the floor, unable to stand up.
Tong Liu took out a lighter and lit it. Using the faint light, he reached out to press the switch, but after pressing it several times, there was still no response.
"Hehe!" Just then, the girl's voice rang out again in the dance studio.
I tried to find her by following the sound, but the sound seemed to come from all directions, making it impossible to pinpoint her location.
"Waaah, I don't want to play with you, I... I want to go home." Hu Tudao cried again.
"Hehehe...hehehe..."
The little girl's voice rang out again, still ethereal, and the only feeling was that she seemed a little closer to us.
"Don't come any closer! Don't come near me!" Just then, Hu Tudao, who was holding my leg, suddenly let go and shouted as he backed away.
By the dim light of the lighter, Tong Liu and I saw that Hu Tudao was bracing herself and backing away, and there was nothing in front of her.
"Hutudao, what's wrong?" I reached out to pull Hutudao, but I couldn't grab his hand.
"Don't come any closer! Don't come any closer!" Hu Tudao continued to retreat, his face filled with terror, screaming frantically.
I was trembling all over, but I gritted my teeth and went over. I grabbed Hu Tudao under the armpit and tried to pull him up, but Hu Tudao twisted his body wildly. When I exerted my strength, I missed and almost fell down myself.
I saw that Hu Tudao looked terrified, his eyes wide open.
Just then, the lighter in Tong Liu's hand went out, and darkness fell once again.
Bucket Six struck again with a snap, but the flame only lasted a few seconds before a gust of wind blew by and extinguished the lighter's flame instantly.
Tong Liu tried a few more times, but he just couldn't hit it.
It was pitch black all around. Tong Liu and I held hands, and with my other hand I was still holding onto Hu Tudao on the ground. Hu Tudao was no longer retreating, but his body was shaking like a leaf.
"Tap tap tap!"
Suddenly, a crisp footstep echoed in the quiet dance studio.
I was trembling all over, my back was already soaked with cold sweat. Every step of that footstep felt like a heavy blow to my trembling heart.
I felt Tong Liu gripping my hand tighter and tighter, and his body was trembling violently.
"Tap tap tap!"
Footsteps sounded again, approaching from afar, as if they were already standing in front of us.
Just when I thought I was going to die here tonight.
"Cock-a-doodle-doo!" Suddenly, I heard a rooster crowing outside.
"Cock-a-doodle-doo!" A moment later, the rooster's crowing sounded again outside.
Just then, the lights in the dance studio came on, and the chilly feeling from before disappeared.
I glanced at Tong Liu, who was covered in sweat and had a pale face, and said, "Let's go down."
Tong Liu nodded, took two steps, reached out and pulled the roller shutter door, and the door slowly opened upwards.
"Hurry up." Tong Liu ran back, grabbed my hand, and tried to pull me toward the door.
I tried to move my stiff legs to go over, but Hu Tudao held me tightly.
"Never mind him, let's go," Tong Liu shouted.
"No, we can't leave him here. Come here, let's carry him out." I said in a deep voice. Although I really wanted to shake off Hu Tudao and Tong Liu and run away, deep down I was against doing so.
"Grass."
Tong Liu cursed, then turned around and together with me, each of us grabbed one of Hu Tudao's armpits and dragged the trembling Hu Tudao out.
When we were going down the stairs, Hutudao was basically dragged down by us.
Once we were outside the first-floor entrance, we dragged Hu Tudao and kept running until we reached the entrance of the courier station before we stopped.
I glanced back with lingering fear and breathed a slight sigh of relief.
"Damn it, it's all because of you, you useless piece of trash." Tong Liu suddenly raised his hand and slapped Hu Tudao twice across the face, shouting loudly.
"Waaah..." Hu Tudao, his hair disheveled, covered his face and sobbed.
"How dare you cry?" Tong Liu roared, raising his hand to slap Hu Tudao's face.
Seeing this, I quickly grabbed Tong Liu's hand and said, "That's enough, don't hit him."
Tong Liu withdrew his hand, pointed at Hu Tudao and cursed, "It's all your fault. If you're not capable, don't pretend to be a big shot. You almost caused us all to die there."
"I didn't know that thing was so powerful," Hu Tu said weakly.
"Alright, Tong Liu, say less. If anyone's to blame, it's me. I'm the one who called you here, and you almost got into trouble." I said in a deep voice, feeling very guilty. If it weren't for me, Tong Liu and Hu Tudao wouldn't have come.
“Changming, what nonsense are you talking about? We’re brothers, why are you saying this now? Damn it, I will never let this bastard go, but…” Tong Liu sighed as he spoke.
I pulled Hu Tudao up, his brows furrowed. Faced with this thing, there really was nothing we could do.
I glanced at my watch under the streetlights outside; it was already five in the morning, an hour before dawn.
