Hu Tudao leaned closer and asked, "Is it your problem or your courier station owner's problem?"
“Mine,” I said, shifting back slightly.
"Oh, since it's yours, I'll take a friendly price. Just give me 388." Hu Tudao patted my shoulder and said casually.
"Okay, what do we need to prepare?"
388 isn't too expensive. After sending Xu Huihui away, I can live with peace of mind. At the same time, I can guess that the reason Hu Tudao asked whose business it was was simply to see who would set the price. If it were the courier station owner, he would probably ask for more than a thousand.
"No need for such a complicated arrangement. Tea, wine, incense, paper, a duck, and sweet rice will do. Once she's full, I can send her on her way," Hu Tudao said casually, waving his hand.
"Okay, I'll go get ready now. Will you go there by yourself tonight, or should I come back and pick you up?"
"How about I go out with you now? I'm pretty bored at home anyway, so we can go shopping. I'll stay at your place tonight and come back tomorrow," Hu Tu said.
"Okay." I nodded. I was more than happy to not have to take Hu Tudao back that night, so I wouldn't be scared when we passed the traffic light intersection.
After Hu Tudao finished packing, I drove him to town. He put his clothes and bag in my car and said he wanted to go shopping. I wasn't interested in shopping, so I started preparing the things for the ritual.
I prepared everything and secretly carried it back to my small room. I didn't plan to tell the people at the station, especially Zhang Guangyin. I planned to wait until they got off work before picking up Hu Tudao.
This period was actually quite leisurely. After delivering the packages, no one wanted to send anything. However, the station had a rule that you couldn't clock in before the end of the workday. I was lying in my room, took out my phone, and wanted to search online for information about the knitting factory that used to be near the courier station. Just as I guessed, the information was very simple, saying that the business was not doing well and the owner had run away. It was completely different from what Old Li had told me. Old Li said that Fang Lei had hanged himself in that small house by the wall. There was something terrifying inside, and the monks who came to perform the ritual had locked him up with a copper lock.
Thinking about this, I had an urge to go and take a look, but I was also a little scared. But that's how people are; once the thought arises, if I don't go and see, I'll keep thinking about it, like a cat scratching at my heart. In the end, curiosity overcame reason, and I comforted myself by saying that it was broad daylight, so what was there to be afraid of? I got up and hurried toward the house.
When I walked around the corner of the courier station and looked into that small room, I saw a strange scene.
At that moment, in front of that small house, An Lili was looking around furtively, trying to unlock the brass lock on the door with her key.
My heart was pounding in my chest. I wanted to go up and stop An Lili, but deep down I hesitated. My body subconsciously took a step back and hid behind the corner of the wall, peeking out half my head to observe An Lili, wanting to see what she was up to by sneakily trying to open the lock.
Does An Lili know the story behind this?
Or did she simply want to open it and see what was inside?
An Lili was holding a large bunch of keys. I had seen these keys before; they were kept in the glass cabinet in the office. I never expected An Lili to bring them here.
Anlili tried a key but couldn't open it, then turned around and looked around.
I was afraid she would see, so I locked my head back in beforehand. To be honest, for some reason, sometimes I always feel that An Lili is a bit strange, but you can't tell anything from her appearance. And her grandmother is so eccentric; she scared me twice.
An Lili has only been at the courier station for about a month, so why would she want to open up this small room in the corner?
I've been working at the courier station for two or three years, and all I knew was that there was such a room here. If it weren't for what Old Li told me, even if I wandered around to the back, I would have selectively ignored this little room.
I waited for about ten seconds, then quietly poked my head out again and saw An Lili unlocking the door again.
At this moment, I was also conflicted. I wanted An Lili to open this small room, and I also wanted to know what was inside. At the same time, I didn't want her to open it, fearing that she would release something vicious if she did.
In short, it's very contradictory. It feels like my heart is right at the center point, with boiling water on the left and ice on the right, which is very agonizing.
I watched as An Lili tried several keys, but still couldn't open the big brass lock. She gradually became frustrated, fiddling with the keychain in her hand. I guessed she had gotten it all mixed up and completely forgotten which keys she had tried and which she hadn't.
Perhaps feeling that her movements of fiddling with the keys were too much, An Lili turned around and glanced back again.
As soon as I saw her turn her head, I quickly pulled my head back.
I considered pretending to cough and casually passing by to ask her what she was doing, but then I remembered An Lili's furtive manner and decided against it. Whatever she was up to, she definitely didn't want anyone to know, otherwise she wouldn't be so cautious.
I waited for about half a minute, then secretly peeked out again. I saw that An Lili was much calmer this time, trying out the keys one by one in an orderly manner. I estimated that there were about twenty keys in the keychain in her hand.
Anli tried all the keys, but still couldn't open the brass lock.
Seeing that she couldn't open the brass lock, I felt inexplicably relieved.
An Lili didn't leave immediately. Instead, she dragged the large brass lock around and examined it carefully. She even took out her phone and took a few pictures of the lock. After doing all this, An Lili put the bunch of keys into her small bag.
I saw her put away her keys, so I knew she was about to leave. I quickly left the corner, went back to the front entrance, walked into the courier station, and walked all the way to the back door.
Sure enough, the back door of the courier station opened a moment later, and An Lili walked in. She saw me at a glance, paused for a moment, and I saw a hint of panic flash across her face before she returned to normal.
"Hey, Lili, why did you run to the back?" I asked curiously, pretending not to know anything about An Lili.
"Um...it's nothing, there's nothing much going on at the station right now, so I'm just wandering around." An Lili's eyes darted around, and after a moment's hesitation, she said.
"Oh," I replied naturally.
"Brother Changming, have you finished delivering the packages?" An Lili came up to me and asked.
"All delivered." I nodded and replied.
"Okay, that's good. It's almost time to get off work. I'll go back and see if there's anything else I need to do." After saying that, An Lili hurriedly left.
I glanced at An Lili's departing figure, and my doubts deepened. Just as I had guessed, she didn't want anyone else to know about this.
Just as I was wondering what An Lili was up to, my phone rang. I took it out and saw that it was Tong Liu calling.
I snapped out of my thoughts and pressed the call button.
"Changming, guess what I saw?" Tong Liu's loud voice, as always, came through, his tone filled with excitement.
