Zhang Guangyin looked me up and down and sneered, "You look terrible, so don't think too much. You'll lose your life."
"Yes, yes, Brother Yin is right." I smiled and agreed, but a surge of anger was rising in my heart, and my fists clenched unconsciously. However, remembering my own situation, I sighed and slowly loosened my fists.
I understood Zhang Guangyin's words perfectly. He meant for me to stay away from An Lili and not to get involved with the prey he had his eye on.
To be honest, I do have a good impression of An Lili, especially after she brought me breakfast twice, which made me feel warm inside.
After Zhang Guangyin left, I sat directly on the electric scooter, finished the rice noodle roll in my hand, threw away the trash, and suddenly the idea of entering the industry surged into my mind again.
Just as I was about to go back to work in the sorting room, I was called back again. It was Zhong Lingui who called me.
He had just arrived and hadn't even parked his electric scooter yet when he called out to me loudly.
"Brother Zhong, what's wrong?" I asked when I saw that Zhong Lingui looked a little unwell.
"Zuo Changming, I'm asking you, did you draw a talisman for my wife last night?" Zhong Lingui forcefully secured the electric scooter, stormed towards me, and loudly questioned me.
I was puzzled by Zhong Lingui's aggressive and angry appearance, but I didn't hide anything. I nodded and said truthfully, "Sister Lin came to me last night and asked me to draw a talisman for her. I did, is there a problem?"
"Nonsense! My wife is superstitious, and you're superstitious too. She took the talisman you drew for her and put it on my son when she got home, scaring him so much that he cried loudly and ran away again that night." Zhong Lingui angrily slapped my electric scooter and said angrily.
"Your son ran away, why are you yelling at me here? What does it have to do with me? I already told her I was just scribbling, I can't guarantee it will work. Damn it, you've made people hate you after trying to help them?" I suddenly got angry, slapping my electric scooter and yelling. I've been suppressed enough these past few days, being played with by ghosts at night, being threatened by Zhang Guangyin during the day, and now Zhong Lingui is questioning me. Even if I'm made of clay, I still have my moments of anger.
Zhong Lingui was taken aback by my shout. She took a few deep breaths, her expression softened slightly, and she said softly, "Changming, I'm just worried about my son. I hope you won't mind. My son has been sick recently, and my wife is always messing around with these kinds of things. I'm angry. I'm sorry about what happened just now."
"Never mind, it's nothing, we're all colleagues. But Brother Zhong, have you ever thought that your son might have attracted some kind of evil spirit?" Since we'd already had a fight, I didn't care about arguing again, so I said what was on my mind.
"Nonsense, how could such a thing exist in this world?"
Sure enough, as soon as I finished speaking, Zhong Lingui retorted with a grim expression.
“Brother Zhong, whether you believe it or not, as your colleague, I hope your son will be healthy.” I said slowly and earnestly, “I’ve heard a little about your son’s illness. You’ve already taken him to the hospital. What did the doctor say? Is he cured? If not, why not give it a try?”
Zhong Lingui fell silent upon hearing this, her expression shifting for a long while before she finally spoke, "Changming, do such unclean things really exist in this world?"
"Yes." I nodded, looking serious. "I've seen it before."
Zhong Lingui took a step back, asking in shock, "Really?"
"Yes." I nodded again and said seriously, "It's true, and the little girl named Xu Huihui that Old Li mentioned is real. I was definitely sleeping in the small room last night, but when I woke up this morning, I was lying in the dance studio. And I dreamed last night that the little girl came to find me, two or three times in a row."
"What?" Zhong Lingui's eyes widened in disbelief as she asked, "Then how come you're alright?"
"Heh, I don't know either, but didn't you see my face? It looked terrible." I chuckled and shook my head.
"I still find it hard to believe," Zhong Lingui said, shaking her head after a long moment of shock.
“I’ve told you everything I need to say. If you don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do. My brother Tong Liu didn’t believe me either, but he slept with me last night and was found lying in the dance studio this morning.” I told Zhong Lingui about Tong Liu as well. I didn’t want to tell him these things, but I had a feeling that perhaps what Xu Dalong said was true, that Zhong Lingui’s son had contracted a ghost disease.
"So strange?" Zhong Lingui asked, her eyes wide.
“Hmm.” I nodded and continued, “You can also think back and see if there’s anything strange about your son. Some things are better believed than not.”
After hearing what I said, Zhong Lingui fell into thought, then her expression changed. She said she had to get busy and left with an unpleasant look on her face.
I followed them in and started working.
There were a lot more packages today. By the time I finished delivering my route, it was already 2:30 PM.
I went home, had lunch, took out my phone, and opened WeChat. I found that An Lili had returned the 10 yuan and sent an angry emoji. I shook my head and smiled, thinking that I would treat her to a meal when I had the chance.
Just then, my phone vibrated, showing that it was Hu Tudao calling. I quickly answered the call.
"Changming, where are you? I'm back." Hu Tudao's voice came from the phone.
"Just finished delivering a package, I'm at home now," I replied.
“Didn’t you need to talk to me? Come down to my house and we’ll talk,” Hu Tudao said on the phone.
"Okay, I'll go down now."
I hung up the phone and rode my electric bike to Hutudao's house.
Ten minutes later, I arrived at Hutu Taoist Temple.
His door was open, so I went inside and saw Hu Tudao putting some chickens and ducks in the refrigerator. He glanced into the inner room and asked, "Where's your dad?"
To be honest, I still don't think Hu Tudao is very reliable. If Hu Ergou were here, I would still like to invite him.
"My dad isn't back yet, probably tomorrow. Someone asked him to do a feng shui consultation on his way home today. You can tell me if you need anything," Hu Tu said, turning around after closing the refrigerator.
I went up to Hutudao, took out a cigarette and offered it to him, saying, "I've seen a ghost again."
"Where?" Hu Tudao asked excitedly, showing no fear whatsoever.
"At my courier station."
I told Hu Tudao in detail about how I stayed at the courier station for two nights.
"So you mean send them away or just wipe them out?" Hu Tu asked excitedly.
Seeing Hu Tudao's expression, I cursed inwardly, "Damn it, I'm already possessed by something filthy, what are you so excited about? All you care about is money."
"Send her away. After all, she didn't harm me." I replied calmly. Xu Huihui was a pitiful child. I really couldn't bring myself to beat her to a pulp, condemning her to eternal damnation.
