The moment the red coin touched my neck, I felt a sudden loosening of my grip, and then I collapsed to the ground with a thud, gasping for breath.
After my breathing became a little easier, I ignored the red shadow and looked around for something.
I was afraid that after looking around, I still wouldn't see the person I wanted to see, and I was afraid that I would call out in a choked voice, "Grandpa, are you still there?"
I received no response; apart from the screams of the red figure, there was no other sound in the hall.
I know that Grandpa has passed away completely. As for why he was able to communicate with me in my mind just now, I can't figure it out. But I still have something to do. That red shadow has been lying on the ground, screaming in agony ever since he was hit by the red coin.
I turned my gaze to the red figure, my right eye filled with rage. If it weren't for this guy, I wouldn't have almost died, Grandpa might not have left me so soon, and Fifth Grandpa and the others wouldn't have been in danger.
It's all that bastard's fault. The more I thought about it, the angrier I got. I don't know where I got the courage, but I grabbed the knife and pounced on the shadowy figure, stabbing him repeatedly.
This shadow couldn't move at all; I could only pin it to the ground and brutally trample it.
Moreover, I discovered that with each strike I made, the red shadow, though without any visible wounds, was slowly becoming transparent.
I fought more and more frantically, and after about ten minutes of frantic stabbing, the red shadow became illusory, as if it might disappear at any moment, and his screams grew weaker and weaker.
I hadn't forgotten my grandfather's instructions. I slowly removed my blindfold and, facing the red shadow, somewhat awkwardly opened my right eye.
A beam of golden light shot out from my right eye and pierced directly through the head of the red shadow.
The red shadow trembled a few times before slowly disappearing completely, leaving not a trace behind.
I slumped to the ground, picked up the copper coin, put it in my pocket, and gasped for breath.
Just then, a strange thing happened: the green candle that had been extinguished suddenly caught fire.
I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but although I’m very tired now, I feel a sense of lightness in my body, and the heavy feeling that had been weighing on my heart has disappeared.
If I'm not mistaken, my ordeal should be over, and thankfully I'm still alive.
Looking at the somewhat messy hall, I didn't have time to tidy up. After regaining some strength, I stood up and walked unsteadily towards the door.
My fifth grandfather and the village chief are probably still fighting. Whether I can help or not, I have to go and see them, otherwise I won't feel at ease.
I had just stepped out of the hall when I saw three people walking into the courtyard. The one in the middle was my fifth grandfather, who was being helped by the village chief.
Following behind was a pale-faced, suffering old woman.
When I saw the three of them, I breathed a long sigh of relief, thankful that they were all alright.
I rushed towards them, but before I even reached my fifth grandfather, who was being supported by the village chief, he fainted. If the village chief hadn't reacted quickly, my fifth grandfather would have fallen to the ground.
"Fifth Grandfather!" I exclaimed, ignoring the pain in my body, and ran over, asking urgently, "Village Chief, where is Fifth Grandfather?"
"This old guy won't die, he's just a bit exhausted. He'll recover from the cold for now and be fine after a rest." Feng Dahai twitched the corner of his mouth, but his brows furrowed tightly, probably because the exertion had aggravated his injuries.
The village chief and I helped Fifth Grandfather back to his room and laid him on the bed.
Seeing my fifth grandfather covered in blood, I asked with some concern, "Village Chief, are you really alright?"
“I told you it’s nothing.” Feng Dahai shook his head, patted my shoulder, and said, “Changming, your problem should be solved by now. Let your fifth grandfather rest for a bit. If you have any questions, we can talk outside.”
I glanced at my fifth grandfather on the bed, then followed Feng Dahai out. I closed the door and went into the courtyard, where Granny Ku was also there.
