Chapter 18 On the Eve of the Grand Competition (shuhaige.net)

As soon as Gu Changqing stepped into the mansion and entered the cultivation room, his divine sense detected the message coming from the token.

Gu Changqing slightly raised his hand and took out the token from the ring. After a faint light, he knew who had sent the message.

"Wu Xin, the Northern Region Grand Competition is about to begin. You can head to Wen Xin City atop Wen Xin Mountain."

Gu Changqing looked at the message sent by the Grand Elder with indifferent eyes, then stepped out of the cultivation room and put the token back into his ring.

After changing into a black and white holy son's robe, and wearing a high-grade spiritual treasure-style defensive hair tie, letting his long black hair fall down his back, he walked out of the mansion.

In front of the mansion, the other six disciples were already waiting. Although they were the same disciples competing with Gu Changqing, their status was essentially that of cannon fodder.

As Gu Changqing walked out of the mansion, the six people below bowed to him.

Gu Changqing merely glanced at them slightly, then paid no more attention to these disciples, and had them follow him to the City of Inquiry at the summit.

Before long, a steward from the Luoxia Sect's residence approached the group, bowed respectfully, and said:

"Your Highness and all esteemed guests, please follow me to the teleportation array."

Teleportation arrays are only found at the headquarters of major sects. Their main purpose is to facilitate the disciples' travel, since the headquarters are far from the peak, and with their cultivation levels, they don't know how long it would take to travel.

Gu Changqing simply replied, "Okay."

He then led everyone to the teleportation array along with the steward.

After walking for a while, the group arrived at an open space in the center of the camp. There were four stone pillars, each about a kilometer high, arranged in a row. Each pillar was carved with various strange runes and patterns.

The steward then took out an object that resembled a compass from his hand, and turned to explain to Gu Changqing and the others:

"Your Highness, please come with the other officials to the center of that stone pillar. I will then escort you to the City of Inquiry."

Gu Changting nodded slightly upon hearing this, and then led everyone into the area surrounded by stone pillars.

As Gu Changqing gestured, the steward placed several hundred spirit stones on the compass. The spirit stones were immediately swallowed by the compass, and then the runes on the four stone pillars emitted a dazzling light.

Gu Changqing, standing at the center of the four stone pillars, gazed at the wondrous light emanating from them and the constantly flowing patterns on their surfaces.

After the steward had continuously thrown several thousand spirit stones into the compass, he stopped throwing them in and placed the compass in the air, while his hands drove the pointer in the compass to rotate.

As the pointer spun to the center, the four stone pillars simultaneously erupted with seven-colored light, enveloping Gu Changqing and the others. The steward then retrieved the compass, knelt on one knee, and loudly addressed the group:

"This humble servant respectfully sees off His Highness the Holy Son and all the esteemed officials."

As soon as he finished speaking, a wave of air erupted from around the stone pillar, blowing the steward's clothes into disarray. He then respectfully bowed to the people inside the stone pillar and withdrew.

As the shockwave erupted, Gu Changqing, inside the stone pillar, felt a warm and comfortable aura enveloping him. However, Gu Changqing, enveloped by this aura, paid no attention to it and simply looked around.

They moved quickly through a black passage, and despite being enveloped in an aura, they felt no discomfort. After a short while, a bright light appeared before them, and they found themselves on a platform with stone pillars.

At this moment, a servant from below the stage approached the crowd, bowed slightly, and spoke to them in a calm tone:

"My lords, this is Wenxin City. Please present your respective sect tokens."

Upon hearing this, Gu Changqing took out a token from his ring and handed it to the guard for inspection. After the guard examined it carefully, he respectfully returned the token to Gu Changqing.

"So you are the Holy Son of the Luoxia Sect. Please forgive my rudeness. I was just following the rules."

Gu Changqing took the token from his hand, put it into his ring, and stepped off the platform, casually saying:

"It's alright."

Then, seeing the guard checking the tokens of the remaining people, he addressed them:

"After that, you may do as you please. Come find me when the competition begins."

The people undergoing the examination bowed to Gu Changqing and said:

"We await the command of the Holy Son."

After finishing his speech, Gu Changqing ignored the people conducting the inspection and stepped out of the platform. Once outside, he realized that the so-called Wenxin City was extremely similar to Chaoxia City, where he had lived in his childhood.

Although there were disciples dressed in the robes of various sects and factions along the way, Gu Changqing could tell that they were all hovering between the Foundation Establishment and Golden Core stages. It seemed that even the most important figures would disdain to associate with these juniors.

Unlike the ordinary shops in Chaoxia City, the streets were lined with shops that offered alchemy, weapon crafting, and various cultivation resources.

After Gu Changqing examined the spirit stones in his ring and roughly calculated, he realized that he had rarely spent spirit stones since he began cultivating. In addition, he had received millions of spirit stones from Gu Nan, customers, and the sect. Furthermore, the rings of Gu Nan and Wu Fan, although the restrictions had not been broken, must contain at least several hundred thousand spirit stones.

Gu Changqing looked at the forging shop next to him, wondering where to ask someone to remove the restrictions on these rings.

As Gu Changqing approached the place called Qianxuepu, he looked around and found that there were only a few people there.
