Chapter 127 Tonight is a little unsettled.

This thing must be related to him falling into the water.

She wanted to see what it was that could make him risk his own life.

"Show me what you're hiding, or I'll never speak to you again!" Su Ruanruan's attitude was so resolute for the first time.

Fearing that Su Ruanruan would really get angry, Mu Bai pursed his lips and could only take the item out of his sleeve again.

“This is…” Su Ruanruan looked at the thing in her hand, somewhat incredulous.

The rough stitches were all too familiar; they belonged to the purse she had thrown away.

"I already threw it away, how did it end up with you?"

Su Ruanruan thought about how he actually...

"You fell into the water for it? How could you be so stupid!" Su Ruanruan was really angry.

"I don't know how I fell into the water. I... I was drunk and realized I had lost the sachet you made for me, so I looked everywhere for it... Ruan Ruan, please don't be angry, okay?"

A few days ago, Ruan Ruan was recuperating in the backyard of the yamen when he returned from the brokerage firm to tidy up the house. In a corner, he found the purse that Ruan Ruan had thrown away. Although the stitching was clumsy, he could vaguely recognize his and Ruan Ruan's names embroidered on it. However, there was a symbol between the two characters that he didn't recognize.

"Never mind, hurry home and change your clothes, don't catch a cold."

Su Ruanruan led Mu Bai away, and after looking around, she did not find Huo Yan.

Never mind, I'll thank him properly next time we meet.

This place is quite far from Mu Bai's courtyard; if he goes back dressed like this, Mu Bai will fall ill.

Su Ruanruan took Mu Bai to a clothing store that was still open recently and bought him new clothes. On the spot, she changed out of her wet clothes and shoes.

The shop owner was very kind and even took Mu Bai to the kitchen in the backyard to warm up and let him dry his wet hair.

Su Ruanruan paid the shop assistant at the clothing store to buy a few bowls of ginger tea.

After drinking several bowls of spicy ginger tea, Mu Bai felt warm inside and out.

After thanking the shopkeeper again, Su Ruanruan led Mu Bai back home.

On the way, she stopped by a pharmacy and bought two doses of medicine to dispel cold and dampness.

Back in the courtyard, Su Ruanruan first boiled water for Mu Bai to take a hot bath to drive away the cold, and then she went to prepare medicine for him.

Mu Bai was taking a bath in the side room, while Su Ruanruan sat in the kitchen, bored. She picked up a new handkerchief and prepared to scrub Mu Bai's back.

Su Ruanruan squinted and looked inside. The room was filled with steam, and Mu Bai's long, dark hair was tied up high.

He sat motionless in the bathtub, lost in thought.

Su Ruanruan's gaze followed his shoulder down, only to find that his back, which already bore old injuries, had more bruises.

These marks don't look like they were caused by falling into the water.

Su Ruanruan wanted to go in and ask how she got these bruises, but she turned back and obediently went to the kitchen.

After taking a hot bath and taking his medicine, Mu Bai wrapped himself in a blanket and pulled Su Ruanruan to look at the moon in the courtyard.

Su Ruanruan wrapped her arms around Mu Bai's neck, sat on his lap, and kissed his cheek.

Su Ruanruan only released him when his breathing became erratic.

"Tell me, why are you drunk today?"

"It was... Fang Ru who invited me for drinks, so I went. I didn't realize I had such a low alcohol tolerance," Mu Bai said earnestly, looking away.

Su Ruanruan wouldn't believe a word of it. After splashing around in the river for so long, she had long since sobered up and had learned to lie.

If she hadn't overheard him speaking the truth while drunk at the Fengshui Bridge, she would have actually believed Mu Bai's words.

He blamed himself for not being able to protect her and felt like a jinx, bringing suffering to those around him.

Su Ruanruan hugged him tightly and leaned on Mu Bai's shoulder.

He is so kind; he always blames himself for all the suffering.

But he clearly did nothing wrong.

Today's imprisonment was inevitable.

Only by leaving the Su family and being free from the exploitation and plunder of those vampires can they live a better life.

"Brother Mu Bai, do you want to leave me?" Su Ruanruan asked solemnly, her voice tinged with grievance.

Mu Bai was startled. Why would Ruan Ruan ask such a question?

He had thought about it, but... how could he bear to do it!

Su Ruanruan preemptively struck, her eyes brimming with tears, on the verge of sobbing, "Brother Mubai, you're panicking!"

"So, that's really what you think."

As she tried to pull away, Mu Bai held her tightly in his arms. "No, I didn't. I just..."

"You just dislike me because of my bad reputation, because I'm not good-looking, because I'm just a lowly helper, because you dislike me..."

Watching her chattering little mouth and the tears streaming down her face, Mu Bai felt utterly confused.

Without a second thought, he pressed down on the back of Su Ruanruan's head and covered her with his warm lips again, silencing her unfinished words.

The night was deep and still, and the air was slightly chilly.

Their hearts, tightly bound together, drew close. Mu Bai's lips were buried in Su Ruanruan's neck, his voice hoarse, "Ruanruan, I really like you so much..."

"Yes, Brother Mu Bai, I like you too." Su Ruanruan's voice was gentle and soft as she took his hand and slipped it inside his clothes.

A warm, soft touch came over him, and Mu Bai was suddenly jolted awake from his lustful reverie, but his hand was firmly pressed down by Su Ruanruan.

"Brother Mu Bai liked it so much last time, why are you shy this time?" Su Ruanruan giggled in his ear.

She brushed her lips against Mu Bai's cheek again, and she could feel Mu Bai's face turn red again...

Mu Bai's breath was hot, his palms were numb, and his body was stiff, not daring to move.

He didn't move, and Su Ruanruan stopped moving too, nestled in his arms, her fingers tracing circles on his chest. "Brother Mubai, never wrong yourself. I'm not as delicate as you think, actually I..."
