Chapter 92 Bai Ruan is Gone

Seeing that the man wasn't in a hurry, Su Ruanruan calmed down as well.

I found a small stool and sat down.

His gaze swept over him. "If I'm not mistaken, you're a soldier, right? You've been to the battlefield? Did you lose your leg back then?"

The man looked at Su Ruanruan for a few moments. Although she was disheveled, her eyes were clear, without contempt or fear.

She's quite a unique girl.

He has traveled to many places and met all sorts of people.

Aside from the children's curiosity, many people were still a little scared when they saw his empty trouser legs.

"You guessed right, I actually figured it out."

His voice was flat, as light as a calm lake.

His life of wandering had long since worn down his personality.

Su Ruanruan kept staring at his empty trouser leg. If her space were activated, it wouldn't be impossible for her to give him a prosthetic leg.

However, she was far from having enough silver to open her spatial storage.

Aren't you afraid?

Su Ruanruan wasn't afraid at all. She had seen things far worse than this; all sorts of unexpected events happened in life, and hospitals were full of them.

"Why should I be afraid? If it weren't for you soldiers guarding the frontier, I wouldn't be sitting here today, watching the bustling streets and the dazzling starry sky."

"Without you, the people would live in peace and prosperity, and the promise of a peaceful and tranquil world would be nothing but empty talk."

"If you ask me, the injuries on your body are both a warning and an honor."

The man was somewhat taken aback and looked at Su Ruanruan, "What do you mean by that?"

Su Ruanruan rested her chin on her hand, unsure of how to begin. After a long pause, she said somewhat shyly, "I'm very bad with words. Let me think about how to say it."

"Uh, just like when I fought with Baiyun, my injuries are throbbing. This pain tells me that I am not strong enough, which is why I get hurt. This is a warning to me."

“I used to hide whenever I saw her, but now I have the courage to confront her head-on. I’ve improved, and the pain in my body tells me how brave I am today.”

"Your legs are the same; they show me the brutality of the battlefield and the bravery of the soldiers."

"They shouldn't be afraid of you; they should respect you."

"We should not let heroes feel disheartened."

"We should not leave wounded soldiers who have been discharged without any support, adrift in the wind and rain."

“You are not the first wounded soldier I have seen discharged from the hospital, but you have similar living conditions.”

"If we want our country to be strong, we must have a strong military. Only when our national strength is prosperous can we stop our neighboring countries from having such unwarranted thoughts..."

Su Ruanruan realized she had talked too much and was going off on a tangent.

She quickly shut her mouth. Although she spoke softly, if someone with ulterior motives overheard her, it would only cause them trouble.

It's really strange. We've been sitting here for so long, and the reinforcements that person brought haven't arrived yet.

It's better if he doesn't come. This man is skilled, but he's not very mobile. What if he can't beat him?

Unbeknownst to her, the two people upstairs had excellent hearing; even though she spoke softly, her words had already reached their ears.

Huo Yan carefully recalled her words. Her statement that a hero should not be disheartened stirred up strange emotions in his heart.

A warm current seemed to flow slowly through my chest.

Downstairs, Su Ruanruan asked, "It's getting late, where are you going?"

"Before the city gates close, I'm going to leave the city. I'll stay at a friend's place, and I'll leave this place at dawn tomorrow. As for where I'll go... I'll just go wherever I end up. Anyway, not here. I don't like this place."

Su Ruanruan said solemnly, "Then I wish you all the best, may your journey be smooth, may you be filled with joy, and may you live in peace and tranquility! Take care."

Take care, you too!

Su Ruanruan said goodbye to him, and as she walked to the street corner, she felt a sense of emptiness.

She subconsciously reached out to stroke the soft, white fur.

But then they discovered something very serious!

The white soft substance has disappeared.

Bai Ruan disappeared the moment her arms were gripped by Bai Yun.

Su Ruanruan was going crazy; she had had the worst luck of her life today.

He was scalded by tea for no reason and got into a fight with Baiyun.

Now, to make matters worse, the puppy Mu Bai gave her has also disappeared.

If I had known, I should have locked myself in the house today and never come out.

What Su Ruanruan didn't know was that her bad luck for the day wasn't over yet.

Su Ruanruan returned the way she came, her eyes scanning everywhere, not missing a single corner.

Ignoring the pain in her body, she quickened her pace and searched several nearby streets, but still couldn't find Bai Ruan.

Where did that little guy go?

If someone else takes it away, that would be troublesome.

Su Ruanruan expanded the search area again, but still couldn't find Bai Ruan.

She was just about to rush back to the tofu shop to ask everyone for help in the search.

But they happened to run into Su He carrying a load on her shoulders.

She was wearing a veil, but Su Ruanruan could tell from her figure and gait that it was Su He.

Upon seeing Su Ruanruan, Su He looked surprised, lifted the veil in front of her, and revealed a pair of delighted eyes.

"Miss Su, what are you doing here?"

Su Ruanruan didn't expect to meet her here. She figured she must have been selling things on the streets and just happened to be here.

Wandering through the streets and alleys?

Su Ruanruan instantly perked up and asked eagerly, "Miss Su, it's so good to see you! Did you see a small, all-white dog on the road with a leash around its neck?"

Su He frowned slightly, deep in thought as she recalled the events.

A completely white puppy?

She kept repeating that sentence.

"Ah, I remember now. About fifteen minutes ago, I passed by Willow Lane and saw a small dog tied under a tree. I didn't pay attention at the time, but now that I think about it, it seems to be white."

Willow Lane?

“Yes, that’s Willow Lane.” Su He pointed in that direction.

There are very few shops over there, and it's not as bright as this place.

But then she thought that Bai Ruan might be over there, and if she hesitated any longer, it might have disappeared somewhere else.

He immediately smiled and patted Su He on the shoulder, "Thanks, sister! I have something to do today, I'll treat you to dinner another day."

Willow Lane is quite secluded, and at this time of day, every house is closed. There are few shops along the way, and a few lanterns illuminate the quiet street. It's rare to encounter anyone on the road.

As Su Ruanruan walked, she kept hearing faint barks from dogs.

But the cold wind swept through the alley, drowning out the sound.

Su Ruanruan walked a little further, and the voices around her grew louder.

She looked in the direction of the sound and saw a snow-white puppy wagging its tail frantically at her.

The night is very dark, and it is very white.

Su Ruanruan felt so sorry for the little guy; she wondered if he was cold.

Anyway, she was really cold.

Su Ruanruan walked happily toward Bai Ruan.

But when we were still some distance away from it, Bai Ruan's little voice started barking incessantly again.

Su Ruanruan suddenly thought of something and slowed down her pace.

When she met Su He, she should have seen the bruises on her face, but why wasn't she curious or surprised at all?

Her reaction was too calm.

Why didn't she ask her what was wrong?

Before she could figure out what was going on, she was knocked unconscious with a blow to the head...
