Chapter 93 Nowhere to Escape

When Su Ruanruan woke up again, she found herself lying on a haystack in a yard, with a piece of cloth stuffed in her mouth, unable to make a sound.

Even their hands and feet were tied up.

Two lanterns hung in the courtyard, swaying in the breeze, and Su Ruanruan could barely make out the scene inside.

There are several brick and tile houses here, and the courtyard is quite large. Overall, it's much better than Mu Bai's small courtyard.

There is also a small door in the west corner of the courtyard, which leads to the courtyard next door.

But if you listen carefully, you can hear the grunting sounds of animals coming from the neighboring yard.

The leaves rustled slightly, and a strange odor wafted from the neighboring yard.

That taste...

Su Ruanruan shuddered, feeling a chill run through her body as if she were immersed in ice water.

It's Butcher Zhou!

If she wasn't mistaken, this should be his home in the county town, and the courtyard next door should be where he slaughtered pigs.

Compared to those pigs, Su Ruanruan felt more like a lamb to the slaughter at this moment.

She knew what awaited her.

Su Ruanruan forced herself to calm down and struggled to climb out of the haystack.

With her hands tied behind her back, she tugged at the rope binding her wrists, but the rope was so tight that she couldn't break free at all, and her wrists felt a burning pain.

She moved her arm, pulling at her wrist as she tried to reach for her waist.

But then she remembered that she hadn't brought the dagger she bought with her.

Damn it, is she going to die here today?

Su Ruanruan quickly looked around and her gaze fell on a wall.

She hopped towards that spot, keeping her feet together, but dared not make too much noise.

She stood in the corner, swinging her wrist up and down, using the wall surface to rub the hemp rope on her hands again and again...

Suddenly, there were footsteps outside the door.

The footsteps stopped at the door, followed by the sound of two people talking.

"Master, the person has been brought back and is tied up in the yard. We just don't know if it's the one you're looking for..."

"Okay, I'll go check it out later. You can go now. Remember to come back tomorrow morning to slaughter the pig. If you slack off again, I'll dock your pay."

"Okay...okay, I know."

Just as the two were about to separate at the door, the rope binding Su Ruanruan's wrists was almost worn out, and this time she pulled hard.

The rope finally broke, and she quickly bent down to untie the rope binding her ankles.

But I was so nervous that the knot on the rope was tied so tightly that I couldn't untie it several times.

Su Ruanruan's ears twitched slightly as she heard Butcher Zhou preparing to open the door. She quickly jumped towards the small door in the corner.

She had just closed that door when she heard the sound of a door opening in the yard next door.

Su Ruanruan's heart pounded wildly, and her lips trembled.

Especially when they heard Butcher Zhou calling out "Su Ruanruan" over and over again from the neighboring courtyard.

The sound made Su Ruanruan tremble; it was the first time she had ever felt so close to a demon.

There were no lanterns hanging under the eaves, but by the moonlight, Su Ruanruan could still vaguely make out the layout of the courtyard.

The only entrance to this courtyard is the small door that I just entered through.

At this moment, she could no longer go back; she could already hear Butcher Zhou's furious voice coming from the next courtyard.

"Su Ruanruan, get the hell out here!"

While listening to the sounds from the neighboring yard, Su Ruanruan tried her best to control her trembling hands and squatted down to untie the ropes on her ankles.

Cold sweat dripped down his forehead, and Zhou the Butcher's curses came from the other end again.

And, the sound of banging on the door.

Su Ruanruan's pupils were filled with fear; each impact felt like a hammer blow to her heart.

Finally, she managed to untie the rope.

She immediately ran to that room, hoping to find some handy tools inside.

However, she rammed the door several times, but it didn't budge at all.

Even the windows were tightly closed.

Su Ruanruan looked around the yard again. Apart from a pigsty in the southwest corner, the whole yard was empty.

Even the courtyard wall was exceptionally high; she couldn't climb it at all.

Feeling powerless once again, Su Ruanruan couldn't help but smile bitterly.

Fate really plays tricks on her. She was just about to follow her heart and get along well with Mu Bai.

Fate played such a cruel joke on her.

Su Ruanruan crossed her arms, looked up at the crescent moon, and tears welled up in her eyes.

She didn't want to lose her life, but she also didn't want to ruin her innocence at the hands of this kind of person.

She looked at the brightest star in the sky and muttered to herself, "Hey, Su Ruanruan, can you hear me?"

"My name is also Su Ruanruan. I am your soul, and you are my body."

"I probably can't escape tonight. I'm sorry, I've soiled your body..."

"I've always wanted to avenge you, but I'm not strong enough; for now, I can only protect myself."

Su Ruanruan pursed her lips, "You risked your life to protect your innocence back then, but I don't want to die."

On the other side, Su Ruanruan bolted the door, and Zhou the Butcher couldn't open it.

However, the wall connecting the two courtyards wasn't very high for someone as tall as him.

After he climbed over the wall and jumped into the yard, he couldn't help but mock Su Ruanruan, that idiot.

Entering this courtyard is like catching a turtle in a jar.

But when he looked around, he couldn't find Su Ruanruan in the courtyard.

It's impossible for her to escape by climbing over the wall.

Therefore, she must still be in this courtyard.

The courtyard was large, but there was no place to hide people.

His eyes flickered slightly, his gaze landing on the stinking pigsty.

Su Ruanruan huddled in a corner of the pigpen, one hand tightly covering her mouth, the other hand grabbing a large pig beside her to shield her.
