Chapter 27 How Long Until Our Contract Ends
The back garden of the villa.
Temperatures have risen recently, and the evening breeze carries a hint of coolness, making it still a bit chilly at night.
The orange streetlights stretched their shadows long as they walked further and further away, the liveliness of the front hall dissipating with the wind.
They walked side by side on the cobblestone path, occasionally encountering guests who came looking for a quiet space to rest and take a stroll.
"Is there something you need from me?" Wen Song asked proactively.
Zhao Mingzhuo had a faint smell of alcohol on him, and in addition, there were several noticeable traces of Omeg.
The presence of such a strong Omega pheromone is probably not something that can be achieved simply through chatting; it might involve sharing a glass of champagne, hugging, holding hands, or even exchanging saliva in a more intimate way.
The pheromones that a rather special Beta like him could smell must have been used to cross the line.
The residual pheromone level is at least 50% or more.
They tend to be quite conservative when exchanging saliva.
The other person might have just gotten out of some Omega's bed.
But none of this has anything to do with Wen Song.
He didn't care.
"I've been busy lately and haven't taken a walk with you in a long time," Zhao Mingzhuo said, feeling a little flushed after drinking some wine. He reached out and unbuttoned his shirt collar, turning his head to look at Wen Song. "That's why I asked you to come out for a walk."
Wen Song noticed that the Alpha next to her had a faint blush on his cheeks.
I suspect the other person is in a vulnerable period and has been drinking too much today, resulting in their intoxication.
He asked, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Zhao Mingzhuo shook his head: "No."
"I might have had a little alcohol earlier, so my face is flushed. I'm feeling a bit down right now because I'm in my most vulnerable period."
Wen Song smelled the faint Alpha cedar pheromones on the other person, indicating that he must have taken inhibitors beforehand to control the pheromone fluctuations.
However, it cannot completely suppress the cytokines that cause the Alpha surge.
Wen Song earnestly suggested, "You need to go back to your room and rest now."
Zhao Mingzhuo waved his hand: "It's okay, it won't hurt to walk for a bit."
"There's no one around here. You're a Beta, so you won't go into heat because of my pheromones."
Wen Song pursed her lips.
Zhao Mingzhuo seemed to sigh and said, "Sometimes being with you makes me feel inexplicably relaxed."
Wen Song asked, "Why?"
As Zhao Mingzhuo walked, he glanced sideways at the Beta next to him. The other person's profile was very three-dimensional, appearing exceptionally pale under the light. The small mole on the tip of the nose was tempting, making him want to give it a light kiss.
Realizing that he was having strange thoughts, he lowered his eyes and concealed his true feelings.
"have no idea."
"Even though you don't have any pheromones, I feel very comfortable around you."
"It feels different when I'm with other Omegas."
Wen Song guessed it was probably because he wasn't an "ordinary" Beta; normal Betas couldn't smell the pheromones on Alphas and Omegas.
Even without pheromones, it can "temporarily" provide a little bit of comfortable space for A or O during their susceptible and estrus periods.
but---
That doesn't change the fact that he's a Beta.
It has no glands, no pheromones, and cannot be marked, let alone be marked.
Betas are destined to be unable to have romantic relationships with Alphas and Omegas. The former cannot be marked and therefore feel insecure, while the latter cannot be marked and therefore feel insecure. Even though he is a special group of Betas, he is unable to effectively comfort either of them.
"Is that so?" Wen Song said indifferently.
Zhao Mingzhuo smiled and said, "Yes."
"I'm probably too tired these past few days. I've been busy with company matters every day and have been working overtime until two or three in the morning for several days in a row."
"Now is another vulnerable period."
Wen Song said slowly, "So you should rest even more."
After saying that, I silently added in my mind: instead of throwing a meaningless pool party.
Zhao Mingzhuo: "Are you concerned about me?"
Wen Song didn't know what to say.
He didn't really care about the other person; he would have said that to anyone.
"How long until our contract ends?" Zhao Mingzhuo suddenly changed the subject.
Wen Song immediately understood that everything he had said before was just a prelude, and now he was slowly getting to the main point.
He thought for a moment and said, "Six months."
Zhao Mingzhuo sighed, "Time flies."
The two strolled casually through the garden.
As they walked, Zhao Mingzhuo unconsciously moved closer to Wen Song, their shoulders bumping. The latter calmly distanced himself.
Is Grandma really alright?
Zhao Mingzhuo was probably really drunk, as the topics he discussed along the way were somewhat strange.
Wen Song: "No."
Zhao Mingzhuo didn't mention the transfer of his grandmother to another hospital, nor did he mention that the surgery might be scheduled in just over a month. He didn't really want to know these things; he was just asking casually to find out about the other person's recent situation.
If the other party wanted to know, they should have received the news immediately after Grandma was transferred to another hospital.
Zhao Mingzhuo nodded.
"Guan Ju..."
Upon hearing the name, Wen Song lowered her eyelashes and waited quietly for what followed.
"—Did he bully you just now?"
Wen Song: "No."
Wen Song: "Why would you ask that?"
Zhao Mingzhuo looked at the fountain in the garden and said, "You have his pheromones on you. They're not very strong, but there has been physical contact."
Alpha is overly sensitive to Alpha pheromones, not to mention that he is currently in a vulnerable period.
Wen Song repeated her previous explanation: "I asked him to cut off the tag for me, and it probably got on accidentally at that time."
Zhao Mingzhuo stopped in his tracks.
Seeing this, Wen Song also stopped and stood face to face with the other party.
The next second, the Alpha in front of him leaned towards him. His heart tightened, and before he could dodge, Zhao Mingzhuo suddenly stopped. There was a fist's distance between them, and the other person carefully sniffed the side of his neck.
"there is none left."
Wen Song: "Hmm?"
Zhao Mingzhuo added, "The pheromones are gone."
Wen Song felt that these two sentences sounded somewhat familiar.
It seems that a certain Alpha who is keen on poaching partners once said something similar.
Just as he was thinking this, he suddenly felt a strong gaze watching his and Zhao Mingzhuo's every move from afar.
I looked up and instinctively headed northwest.
Sure enough, Guan Ju's figure was spotted behind the greenery at the corner under the eaves.
The other person leaned casually against the wall, his right leg propped up, a cigarette between his fingers, the embers flickering. His thin eyelids drooped, and his dark eyes stared intently at where he was.
He took one puff after another, exhaling beautiful smoke rings.
As if caught in the act, Wen Song quickly took a step back to distance herself from her boyfriend.
