It bent down and picked up a thick vine, precisely placing it on the edge of the collapsed nest. With a flick of its beak, the vine was firmly secured. Meanwhile, the mother blackbird was even more efficient, having already been working on it for quite some time.
Qi Xu was the only one who was nervous from beginning to end. Now he was lying in the center of the bird's nest, watching the two big black birds busy on the left and right, openly slacking off and enjoying himself. He was very happy. What a new experience on the road to survival!
The mother blackbird lined the bottom of the nest with down feathers, occasionally turning her head to nuzzle her cheek, her golden eyes full of comfort. The father blackbird, on the other hand, brought up all the dry grass and twigs scattered on the ground. The two blackbirds worked together very well.
Qi Xu slowly approached the big black bird father and tentatively asked, "Impressive, Old Blackie?"
The father black bird visibly froze, staring at Qi Xu as if he'd seen a ghost, and even glanced at the mother black bird with a bewildered expression...
Qi Xu grinned and continued, "Next time, we don't need to poke that poisonous stuff with our mouths."
The mother blackbird very humanely covered her head with her wings, wanting to roar but realizing it was unnecessary; her child was just stupid.
The big black bird father explained seriously, "Our beaks and claws have a hard keratin layer on the outside, which can prevent snake venom from penetrating."
Qi Xu chuckled foolishly, "Oh, I see." Then she quietly left, feeling a bit silly and like she was just trying to make conversation, so she simply shut up.
It has to be said that it feels really good to be served food, and Qi Xu took it for granted (with his thick skin).
As the days went by, Qi Xu felt that he had grown a size larger. At least he could walk steadily now and wouldn't be easily knocked away by a gust of wind or a small animal.
The day for learning to fly has finally arrived! Big Black Bird's parents have been quite anxious, though Qi Xu doesn't know what they're so worried about...
After learning that he would be learning to fly the next morning, Qi Xu was so excited that he couldn't sleep that night. He was then severely scolded and slapped by the mother black bird before he finally lay down to sleep.
It feels so good to have my mom beat me up!
As dawn broke and the forest was still shrouded in the refreshing morning mist, the father blackbird gently pecked at Qi Xu's wing with his beak, calling her to wake up.
Qi Xu had been idle for so long and couldn't stand it any longer. He quickly stood up straight, indicating that he was ready at any time!
The big black bird father was clearly very satisfied with Qi Xu's spirit! He nodded approvingly, stood by the nest, spread his wings slightly, and looked down at the dense canopy of trees with his golden eyes, as if gesturing for her to look down.
Qi Xu moved to the edge of the nest, looked down, and felt as if he were dozens of feet off the ground. The wind blew through the treetops, and the branches and leaves under his feet swayed gently, making the bird dizzy...
But Qi Xu wasn't afraid at all; instead, she became excited. Before the big black bird father could give any command, Qi Xu suddenly spread her downy wings and jumped down!
A gust of wind instantly filled the area beneath his wings, the cool morning mist brushing against his face. Qi Xu realized that this was completely different from what he had imagined; it was far more difficult...
Its own wings were simply unable to open and resist the wind at such a high speed. The newly unfolded down was blown upside down onto its wings. Not to mention climbing upwards, even maintaining balance was as difficult as climbing to heaven.
However, Qi Xu was not afraid at all. Although he did not know how many days he had been here, he completely trusted the big black bird father and mother. Even if the father was unreliable, the mother would not let him fall to his death.
