Chapter 12 Maoxuewang

Bai Xing looked at the time on the passenger panel. It was only eleven o'clock. She thought about it and returned to the train. Fortunately, the hospital she chose was not far from the station. She returned to the train at half past eleven. As soon as she entered the carriage from the back, she saw Xu Dao looking up at her as if he had sensed something.

Giving her a questioning look, Bai Xing curved her eyes and nodded slightly. Xu Dao felt relieved and continued to eat his meal.

Xu Dao asked her last night if she needed help, and if so, he could find a way to help her get rid of these people.

Bai Xing thought about it and decided to refuse. After careful consideration, she felt that she should be able to get rid of them. With her familiarity with this environment, she could hide well even if things didn't go smoothly.

When food supplies dwindled in the city, many small groups abandoned their own painstaking efforts to search for food and instead sought out survivors, plundering their provisions. She didn't join any small groups at the time; joining would only lead to humiliation. She had seen women who chose to join groups and rely on them for survival. It wasn't about right or wrong; she simply didn't want such a humiliating existence. Dignity and life were equally important.

Several times, she brushed past those small groups and was nearly discovered. It was this experience that gradually trained her to remain very calm no matter how extreme the environment.

The other people in the carriage saw the five people going out to cause trouble for her, but only Bai Xing came back. They exchanged subtle glances with each other and no longer dared to look down on her.

Ignoring other people's thoughts, Bai Xing sat on her bed and began to happily browse the food mall. She made a little money today and wanted to eat something good. Eating basic meal packs every day was really bland. She felt like a piglet in a farm, eating feed every day.

Fried rice, 15 gold coins.

Steamed bun, 3 gold coins.

Chicken drumstick, 15 gold coins.

Fried noodles, 12 gold coins.

Maoxuewang, 35 gold coins.

Bai Xing suddenly stopped and looked at the tempting color of the food in the picture. She swallowed slightly.

In such cold weather, the carriage door was still open, and there was even a little snow not far from her bed. Who could refuse a bowl of steaming hot Maoxuewang in such an environment?

After hesitating for a moment, she placed the order, put down the small table that came with the bed, placed the sharp dagger on the table, and then watched the flight attendant push the cart in and hand her a large portion of Maoxuewang and rice.

The spicy aroma filled the carriage. There were not many people left in the carriage. Most of them were still hunting outside. Half of the remaining people were like Bai Xing who came back to rest and replenish supplies, and the other half did not want to go out hunting at all. They did not want to encounter danger and just wanted to live a peaceful life.

These people looked at the Maoxuewang on Bai Xing's table with eager expressions, and couldn't help but feel eager to try it. But after looking at the knife beside them, they suddenly calmed down. After weighing the pros and cons, they shrank back to their seats, covered themselves with the thin blanket they bought, and stopped smelling the smell.

Bai Xing looked at the food in front of her. The portion was very large, definitely enough to fill her up. The ingredients drizzled with hot oil gave off a spicy and fragrant aroma, and the rich soup made her mouth water just by looking at it.

Bai Xing opened the set of tableware, picked up a piece of tripe, and ate it with satisfaction. The salty and spicy juice burst in her mouth, and the tripe was tender and crispy, instantly healing her cold body.

As expected, the products of Doomsday Train are of the highest quality, and all the ingredients are the freshest and best. The crispy bean sprouts, the chewy wide noodles, and the tender duck blood made her unable to stop eating.

Bai Xing ate with her eyebrows curved. This was the best meal she had ever had since the end of the world. The rice gave off a faint rice fragrance. She poured the soup on it, scooped up a spoonful of soup-soaked rice with a spoon, took a bite, and couldn't help but close her eyes to savor it carefully.

She ate all the food and finished the rice. She also drank the remaining soup slowly as an after-meal soup. This soup contained very important fat and salt, and could also warm the body. In this era when food was very precious, she would definitely not waste it.

Throw the disposable dishes and chopsticks into the trash can at the back of the car. The trash can is a black square hole embedded in the wall. No matter how much garbage is thrown into it, it seems that it will never be filled up, as if it is connected to other spaces.

Bai Xing returned to her bed, leaning back and closing her eyes to rest. She hadn't bought a blanket, but had opted for thicker clothes. Over the past few days, there had been repeated incidents of people having their blankets stolen. They'd called the flight attendants, but they'd said it wasn't their responsibility if no one was harmed. The thieves, therefore, felt relieved, even mocking the victims. Such incidents were common, and a delicate balance had finally been reached.

Bai Xing didn't want to get involved in too much trouble. If people didn't come to provoke her one after another, she wouldn't even want others to notice her.

After resting until half past one, she stood up and prepared to start the afternoon hunt. When she looked back, Xu Dao had already left.

Walking into the snow again, she headed in another direction, which was a commercial street. She walked lightly, and suddenly, she stopped, and her whole body was completely in a state of extreme calmness again.

All five senses seemed to be magnified, and she caught a very slight friction sound in her ears that she felt was unusual.

She carefully identified the source of the sound and did not approach rashly. She didn't know if it was because of the Maoxuewang she had eaten, but she felt as if her blood was boiling and her whole body was filled with strength.

With a rough judgment in his mind, he searched inch by inch, and finally focused his sight on a small snow pile that was slightly rising. Under that snow pile, a mutant beast was approaching Bai Xing stealthily but quickly in a curved route.

Looking at the traces of the mutant beast's movements, Bai Xing had a rough judgment in his mind and his expression was somewhat solemn.

This seems to be a snake?

If it's a snake, we're in trouble.

Normal snakes will go into rigor mortis in winter. Snakes in hibernation are very insensitive to the outside world, but she can't say for sure what the mutated snakes will look like. It is likely that they have the ability to move naturally and hunt in winter. Judging from the mutant wolf's previous appearance, the mutated snake's toughness and the strength to strangle its prey should also be greatly enhanced.

Bai Xing hasn't activated her skills yet, and Doomsday Train hasn't announced how to acquire them. Facing this snake, she actually wants to retreat. Even though this isn't a particularly large snake, it's still not an easy character to deal with.

But at this moment, Bai Xing could feel that the snake had locked onto her. Snakes are very patient animals, and she had a strong premonition that if she didn't kill the snake, it would not let her leave.
