Chapter 49 Super Zombie Crisis

Chapter 49 Super Zombie Crisis

The long, dark, and quiet corridor was bathed in somber daylight through a glass window at the end. A half-length aluminum alloy folding ladder hung from the ceiling, its legs swaying slightly and reflecting fragments of light. A pair of forearms reached out and pulled in, then instantly retracted into the ventilation duct.

Li Nai lowered his head and leaned against the ventilation duct wall. He first glanced at the unharmed cub in the bag on his chest, then took off the black backpack containing weapons and bullets and put it aside.

Sorry, special abilities cannot be used. Remaining penalty time: 1 day.

Oh dear!

I'm frantically pulling my hair.

"How could a super zombie be here! Has Merck forgotten or is he senile?"

A sudden, sharp pain shot through her elbow, followed by pain in both knees. This was from the falls and collisions she made while escaping.

After enduring the pain and feeling a little better, she comforted herself: It's okay, it's okay. Those team members must have noticed that she was being chased by a super zombie. Maybe they're calling for reinforcements.

After comforting them, he picked up the black backpack that was placed aside, opened it, and checked the weapons.

One submachine gun that was too late to use;

Submachine gun 30-round curved magazine x3;

Steel ball hand-operated 5;

Five handgun magazines that are no longer in contact with the handgun and are essentially useless.

After counting, she closed her wide-open backpack.

Suddenly, a heavy, shuffling sound of footsteps began to rise, faint yet distinct, and was approaching the spot where she sat.

Looking down, a flash of white reflection swept across the cement floor.

So fast! I wonder if that team member got kicked out?

His fingers, which had been stiff for a moment, trembled as he bent over to grab the stainless steel protective mesh cover, but he couldn't get it to fasten properly into the groove.

The surroundings were quiet, with the clanging of metal against metal.

She cursed and finally buttoned it up.

He reached into his backpack and frantically rummaged around, pulling out a gun and clumsily loading the magazine.

A short, thin gun barrel protruded, aimed at the concrete floor below.

During the brief wait, sweat beaded on my forehead. A drop of water dripped from the tip of my nose, instantly absorbed by the dry, gray cement floor.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

A beating heart is hidden deep within the ear.

Time seemed to stretch out infinitely.

The super zombie that should have arrived long ago is nowhere to be seen under the stainless steel grille.

Perhaps I misheard?

His hands, which were gripping the gun handle, loosened.

Staring blankly at the concrete floor, he felt a little dazed. "I'll take another look," he thought. He blinked, then raised the muzzle of his gun, which was currently locked in place.

Gently move the protective netting aside, lower your head, and carefully stick your neck out.

The glass window at the end of the corridor was open, and a breeze brushed against my face.

The fresh air carried a hint of dust.

No.

She shifted her body position and turned her head to look at the other side of the corridor.

The room was dark and gloomy, filled with a foul stench. A few meters away, a dark creature clung to the ceiling. It raised its ugly face, its pungent eyes fixed on her, and slithered towards her.

The super zombie's frenzied movements caused the ventilation ducts suspended from the ceiling to vibrate uncontrollably.

Clang. The chains rattled. The shimmering white light dazzled her eyes.

Super zombies are large, but that doesn't hinder their agility.

She only had time to shrink back into the pipe.

A head suddenly darted into the ventilation shaft, its cold, blood-red eyes staring blankly at her.

"ah!--"

Li Nai screamed and reflexively kicked out.

One kick, two kicks...

Another scream rang out.

Her face was pale as she stared in horror at her foot, which had been bitten to death by a large gash.

Her free foot was used to kick the horrifying head, tearing apart the slightly rotting skin to reveal bloody flesh. It bit down hard on the gaping wound, and in the excruciating pain, she could clearly hear the bones of her foot creaking and grinding.

"Eek."

The backpack fell to the side, and the panda cub trembled as it emerged, its round paws bobbing out from under its paws.

Her eyes widened as if she had found a miracle drug. She grabbed one, disregarded everything else, pulled open the clip, and removed the safety pin.

"I'll blow you up!"

He grinned and threw it at the zombie. But he didn't use enough force and threw it too far.

A loud bang.

The ventilation duct snapped, slamming them to the ground. She was already dizzy from the blast wave, and now she felt even more disoriented.

Holding his buzzing, mushy head, Li Nai didn't forget the danger that was right in front of him. He groped for his backpack and the bear cub, stuffed them haphazardly inside, and crawled into the depths of the winding, broken passage using all three limbs.

A bright red bloodstain was left trailing from the broken ankle.

Fortunately, she discovered a gap in the passageway's seam, large enough for a person to pass through.

As soon as the person crawled out and stood up, a pair of withered, bluish-gray hands suddenly reached out and grabbed her calves tightly.

Pull it back.

He tripped and flew forward, the backpack strap slipping from his hand and spinning a long way. His chin slammed hard on the concrete, and the taste of blood instantly filled his mouth.

She tried to crawl away with blood in her mouth, but a dark shadow pounced on her from above, its hundreds of pounds of weight pressing down on her back, almost killing her on the spot.

He opened his mouth and vomited out the blood he had been holding in his mouth.

The super zombie grabbed her shoulders and forcibly twisted her upper body.

"Ahhhh—"

She opened her blood-soaked mouth and screamed in pain, veins bulging on her forehead.

The zombie didn't bite; it just stared at her silently with its cold, bloodshot eyes.

A few seconds later, it suddenly lowered its head.

Li Nai thought the other party had gone berserk and was going to bite her, so she frantically waved her arms, pushing and scratching to prevent the other party from getting close.

As the two sides struggled and fought, the silver chains around the zombies' necks swayed with their movements, constantly irritating Li Nai's eyes.

Cold, foul-smelling, dark purple blood dripped from the zombie's mutilated face.

In a daze, a layer of oily mist covered her memories.

Someone was holding her tightly, engaged in a fierce battle with something, their swiftly waving arms gleaming silver-white.

Amidst the blood and blades, there are occasionally lowered fox eyes.

His gaze fell one last time, suddenly filled with pain, as if he had been attacked with a fatal sneak attack.

—We were so close, so very close, that neither of us would have made it back here.

Qi Shuihan...

A tear in her shoulder and the excruciating pain pulled her from her memories.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a zombie head grinning and eating heartily on my right shoulder.

She grabbed the zombie's head to stop it.

—What if I don't have a gun, and a zombie pins me down and bites me?

—Poke their eyes hard with your fingers, hard enough to crush their brains.

Exhausted eyes regained focus, and the zombie rubbed its temples with both hands. A thumb was raised and viciously plunged in, causing the bloodshot eyeball to spurt out of its socket, oozing foul-smelling blood and mucus.

She poked harder, adding other, longer fingers.

Unlike ordinary zombies, the super zombie didn't only care about satisfying its appetite. It retreated, gripping Li Nai's fingers tightly with both hands, preventing them from going any deeper.

Li Naike wouldn't let this opportunity slip by; she could feel her fingertips sinking into the smooth, tofu-like part of the brain.

However, the super zombie grabbed her ten fingers, making a cracking sound as her knuckles snapped.

She opened her mouth wide, but was in so much pain that she couldn't scream.

The super zombie controlled the dangerous finger, raised its neck high, twitched its nose, sniffed the blood to pinpoint its location, and slowly split open its scythe-like mouth, its wide, fat tongue writhing.

It's over! I'm going to die!

Li Nai turned his upper body back, trying to escape by digging his hands into the ground. But his lower body, weighed down by a hundred pounds, remained completely still. To succeed, he would have to tear his body in two, like a gecko with its tail severed.

She wanted to disconnect it, but at worst, she could just shut it down and repair it.

She tried to prop herself up, but then thought better of it; she was afraid of the pain.

A large, bluish-gray hand pressed her down heavily.

Oh no. Is it too late for her to break her back now?

A wet liquid was flowing down her back.

She could imagine the terrifying gaping maw rushing towards her from behind.

blow--

Something cool flew by overhead.

The hand that was pressing down on her back was removed, and the hundred-pound "stone" sitting on her hips and legs became loose and unstable.

A series of crackling sounds and flashes of sparks suddenly appeared.

She looked back and saw a metal mesh completely wrapped around the super zombie's head, its charred skin emitting foul-smelling black smoke.

Someone saved her.

She crawled away from the spot with the puzzled dog in her arms, only to bump her head into a pair of calves.

He lifted his face.

I saw a cold, indifferent face.

Captain of Ritchie...

"Captain! I almost died. You saved my life!"

Li Nai, clutching the other man's military trousers, looked up at him with teary eyes.

The other person didn't look at her; they kept staring behind her.

That's incredibly cruel.

Li Naile chuckled and clung to the captain's leg, struggling to stand up. However, her broken leg made things difficult, and she grimaced as she sat back down on the ground, looking in the direction the captain's gaze had fallen.

The members of Team Ritchie are working together to subdue the super zombie.

Watched for a while

One of the team members looked familiar. She had asked him for help when she was being chased by a super zombie.

Upon closer inspection, it was completely unharmed.

Hey friend, you called for reinforcements way too late! I was already badly wounded when I arrived.

About ten minutes later, the super zombie finally calmed down. They didn't kill it.

Li Nai was a little confused.

A team member came to report on their work.

During their conversation, she learned that their main purpose in returning to the base was to find the super zombie and bring it back.

She nodded understandingly. After all, so much money and effort had been spent; it couldn't be wasted even if she died.

After arranging the transportation of the super zombies, the captain officially gave the order to prepare to return to the deep mountain base.

Li Nai happily helped tidy up, but was quickly shooed away to cool off.

She was happy to have some free time, and while everyone else was busy, she happily opened the points redemption shop.

After swiping through several options, prioritize exchanging for the antidote.

He reached deep into his trouser pocket and pulled out a necklace; the center of the diamond-shaped pendant shimmered with an emerald. He shook it slightly, and the turquoise antidote shimmered with iridescent light.

She chuckled. Her hand, which was about to put back in her pocket, paused. She felt it wasn't safe in her pocket, looked around, and decided it was safer on her person. She carefully wore it around her neck, clutching her chest and imagining the scene of offering it to Missyco.

On the other side, Captain Richie's indifferent eyes took in Li Nai's silly grin, then he turned and whispered to Mai.

"We followed your plan and lured the target to hunt down Li Nai. During this time, we did not see her use any of her abilities."

"Absolutely certain. The statement about punishing and prohibiting the use of abilities is not a lie."

"Don't worry, he's fine. It's just that his right foot is severely fractured, which will affect his ability to walk normally in the future."
