Chapter 2 Apology

"What compensation?" The old man's words were interrupted by a young man standing on the other side of the garden, watching them. His clear voice pierced through the small garden. He had a cold, unapproachable expression. He was tall and straight, wearing a well-fitting suit. He stood there quietly, like a solitary pine tree, exuding a sense of alienation. Even the atmosphere around him became quiet.

"Grandpa, why did you sneak out?" He walked slowly along the stone path from the other side of the small garden. He looked at the old man with disapproval in his eyes, as if he was looking at a disobedient child.

Cheng Yuesheng saw that the old man's face changed immediately when he heard his voice, and he looked like he wanted to run away.

"I just came out to get some fresh air after staying in the ward for too long. I didn't do anything special." The old man responded in a low voice, his eyes wandering and he looked guilty.

"Did you sneak out to eat something? Doctor Wang even called me to complain that you were disobedient." The man looked at his grandfather helplessly. He always said that he was an old child. He really didn't expect that his grandfather would become like this. He was like a disobedient child. He would do things that he was not allowed to do.

He even sneaked out to drink milk tea and didn't dare bring it back to the ward for fear that the doctors and nurses would see him and complain.

"I don't have any."

"You don't have it, what's that on the ground?" He pointed to the broken cup and the milk tea that spilled all over the floor.

"That's not mine," the old man retorted, then pointed at Cheng Yuesheng, "It's this little girl's!"

Cheng Yuesheng's eyes widened. She hadn't expected the old man to be like this. She looked at him, meeting his slightly pleading eyes. It seemed that the old man was usually very strictly controlled by his family. She didn't know whether to admit it or tell the truth directly.

"It belonged to this little girl. I accidentally bumped into her and dropped her milk tea," the old man said, not giving Cheng Yuesheng a chance to speak. "Xiao He, I dropped her milk tea and I need to compensate her with a new one. Go buy me a new one."

Qin Heque glanced at Cheng Yuesheng. Her face was pale, her eyes were filled with confusion, her lips were pale, and she was thin and small, looking like a high school student. She was wearing a hospital gown and was obviously a patient at the hospital. It was obvious that his grandfather was lying to him.

"Grandpa, don't put the blame on others. It's obviously you—"

"The milk tea is mine." Cheng Yuesheng said in a low voice. Actually, she didn't want to help the old man, but when she saw the obvious pleading in his eyes, she really couldn't bear it. Besides, it was because she accidentally bumped into him while walking that he was caught by his grandson.

"I was walking and accidentally bumped into your grandfather. The milk tea is mine." Cheng Yuesheng looked into the man's eyes, and suddenly licked his pale lips with a guilty look, avoiding his probing gaze. "Stop scolding your grandfather."

"That's right! Did you hear that? It's this little girl's milk tea." The old man seemed to have someone's support and was no longer afraid of his grandson. "Hurry up and buy her a cup of milk tea to compensate her."

Qin Heque felt helpless and looked Cheng Yuesheng up and down with a cold expression. He didn't expect that this thin and weak-looking girl in front of him would help his grandfather lie. They obviously didn't know each other.

"Go quickly—"

"Okay, I'll order some takeout for her." Qin Heque took out his cell phone and prepared to listen to his grandfather and order a cup of milk tea as compensation to prevent his grandfather from continuing to make trouble.

"Whatever you want to order takeout, there's a milk tea shop outside the hospital. You can just go there and buy it. I bought this cup outside the hospital."

Qin Heque stopped ordering takeout, glanced at his grandfather and Cheng Yuesheng, then put his phone away.

"Grandpa, how do you know this cup of milk tea was bought at the milk tea shop outside the hospital?"

The old man immediately shut up and glanced at Cheng Yuesheng.

Qin Heque also followed the old man's gaze, his face expressionless and cold.

"I bought it there..." Cheng Yuesheng spoke timidly under the two gazes. She had only been in this world for a few days and didn't even know which way the door of the milk tea shop outside the hospital faced.

"Well, please, miss, stay here with my grandfather for a while. I'll be back soon." Qin Heque did not expose their lies and went out of the hospital to buy milk tea.

Cheng Yuesheng felt an indescribable feeling when he thought of a man in a suit and tie standing at the door of a milk tea shop buying milk tea.

"Grandpa, I helped you. Don't do this again next time. Don't lie to your grandson. He seems to care about you."

"Hmph!" the old man grumbled in dissatisfaction, "At my age, I still have to be controlled by a bunch of people just to eat. How boring."

Cheng Yuesheng smiled. In her opinion, this little complaint was actually because the old man's family cared about him too much, so it was like this. It could be regarded as a sweet burden.

"What are you laughing at? Am I wrong? I'm already so old, and I still need someone's approval for what I eat. It's totally unreasonable."

"That's because they care about you. If they didn't, they wouldn't care what you ate." Cheng Yuesheng couldn't help but think of the original owner. She had a cold relationship with her family, and no one cared about what she ate or whether she avoided any dietary restrictions during her hospitalization. She was indeed a bit pitiful, no wonder the nurses felt sorry for her. Now she had become Cheng Yuesheng, and she didn't know where the original Cheng Yuesheng had gone.

In her previous life, she was killed in a gas explosion and house collapse. It was impossible for the original owner to become her. Her parents and relatives were unsure whether they could accept such tragic news. Fortunately, she wasn't an only child. Even without her, she still had a younger brother to accompany her parents. She also had accident insurance, and she hoped the insurance company's claims process would be simpler...

Thinking of this, a trace of sadness appeared on her face, her eyes began to turn red, and tears were in them, about to fall.

When the old man saw Cheng Yuesheng's expression, he thought she had talked about her sad story, and he didn't know what kind of blow she had suffered.

"Okay, okay, I won't lie to them anymore. Please don't cry." He was too old to want to make a little girl cry. If someone saw it, it would cause a big misunderstanding.

"Well, okay." Cheng Yuesheng was at a loss whether to laugh or cry when he heard his words, but he also forgot the worries in his heart.

"Little girl, what's your name? Are you also hospitalized here? Which floor are you staying on?"

"My name is Cheng Yuesheng. I'm hospitalized here, in Ward 320."

While waiting for milk tea, the two chatted. Cheng Yuesheng knew that the old man's surname was Qin. He had fainted in the hospital due to high blood pressure some time ago. The one who had just gone to buy milk tea was his grandson, Qin Heque. His family was very strict about his diet and thought that he had fainted some time ago because the old man had secretly eaten without restraint. So Qin Heque hurried over after receiving the call from the hospital.

After a while, Qin Heque came back with milk tea. Cheng Yuesheng felt like laughing when she saw him holding the milk tea with such an awkward look on his face. She took the milk tea, said goodbye to Old Man Qin and his grandson, and left the small garden under the old man's envious gaze and returned to the ward.
