Tian was rubbing the bedding when Zhang Erniu came over. This time he brought another large basket of potatoes.
"We haven't finished yesterday's food yet." Tian said.
Zhang Erniu smiled and said, "If you store the potatoes well, they won't go bad. I'll go back the next day and bring some vegetables back home."
Tian would also bring some vegetables grown at home, so there is no need to say more.
The rice was heating on the stove, so Zhang Erniu went straight to the kitchen to eat.
"Erniu, think of a way to tie a hemp rope to the beam later." Tian said while hanging the quilt.
While hanging the rope on the beam, Zhang Erniu almost choked on the rice grains.
Now, every time Mrs. Mu sits on the toilet, she has difficulty exerting force. If she were in a wheelchair, she could climb onto a rope and sit on the toilet by herself. At night, when no one is around, she could also sit on the toilet to relieve herself.
Zhang Erniu heard this and said, "Don't hang the rope, just make a rack. I'll do it after I finish my meal."
Tian pushed Mother Mu into the yard and let her continue to bask in the sun.
"Are you trying to dry me into jerky?" Mrs. Mu joked.
Tian dragged out all the beds in the room and said, "I smell a musty smell in the room. Let me sweep it first."
"Aren't you from the countryside? Why are you so poor but so particular?" Mrs. Mu muttered.
"Who says country people don't care about things? Keeping the room clean will help you avoid getting sick." After saying this, Tian used a broom to sweep out everything in the room.
It's a black pile and I don't know what it is.
Several dead mice were also found. Mrs. Mu shut her mouth. She used to keep the house clean inside and out, but ever since her legs were crippled, her home has become like this.
After Zhang Erniu finished eating, he helped to fetch water.
It was unusual for Granny Mu's house to be so lively that the person next door asked casually when he passed by, "Is your son back?"
"Is it necessary for you to worry about this?" Mrs. Mu scolded without even turning her head.
The people next door seemed to know her temper and left with a few chuckles.
Tian asked, "Don't you want to get along better with your neighbors?"
"It's not a good thing. What's the benefit of it?" Mrs. Mu snorted.
Tian didn't know what grudge there was between them, so she didn't say much.
After washing and rinsing, the room was finally clean. Just as I carried the bed in, a gust of wind blew outside.
Mother Mu shouted, "It's raining."
Tian stretched her neck to take a look and just opened her mouth, "How can..."
Before she could finish her words, the rain suddenly started pouring down, scaring Tian so much that she quickly ran over to push Mu Pozi, anxiously shouting, "Erniu, help me collect the quilt..."
When I put the things into the house, I squeezed the quilt and it was still wet.
"Why is it raining out of the blue?" Tian complained as she pulled a rope in the house to hang up the sheets and quilts.
At night, she couldn't let Grandma Mu sleep on the old cotton. Tian got a plate of charcoal and roasted it in the house while asking Zhang Erniu, "Erniu, can you see if the latch in this room can be fixed?"
Zhang Erniu fiddled with the door latch and said, "This should have been fixed long ago. I'll go to the kitchen and get a kitchen knife."
"Hey," Tian said, taking out a pair of scissors, "Can we use this?"
"That's fine." Zhang Erniu took the scissors and started tinkering with them.
Tian started to warm the quilt and thought that there was nothing in the kitchen except two old clay pots. She had been using the knife she brought from home these days.
"Why do I smell something?" asked Mrs. Mu.
Tian turned around and exclaimed, "Oh!"
I don't know when the quilt at the back fell into the charcoal brazier and burned a big hole in it.
Tian quickly pulled the quilt off and patted it hard, leaving a big black hole.
"I'll compensate you." Tian sighed.
"It's just a hole. What's there to compensate for? It's not a good thing anyway. It's fine as long as it can be used." Mrs. Mu said with a smile.
"Then I'll feel bad about it." Tian said.
Mother Mu said helplessly, "Then find a piece of cloth and patch it up for me. It doesn't matter if there is a patch."
Tian nodded. This was the only way for now.
"Okay, the door is repaired." Zhang Erniu handed the scissors back.
"So fast?" Granny Mu pushed the wheelchair over, closed and opened the door latch several times, and Zhang Erniu couldn't help laughing, "Grandma, are you done?"
Mother Mu nodded and said, "It's fixed. It's fixed. It's been broken for three years. It's finally fixed."
Half a month later, Song Yuehua came to the county town and visited Mrs. Mu.
Washed clothes were hung out to dry in front of the house. Mrs. Mu sat in a wheelchair with her back straight and her hair combed meticulously. She was picking vegetables while talking to Mrs. Tian who was working in the kitchen.
When Song Yuehua walked over, the two of them said something to each other and burst into laughter.
"It's quite lively." Song Yuehua said with a smile.
Tian ran out of the kitchen, the smile on her face still not fading, "Miss, when did you come?"
Granny Mu also turned her wheelchair and looked at her with a smile, "Miss Song, we meet again."
"You look in good spirits." Song Yuehua said.
Mother Mu smiled and said, "Thanks to you."
"Miss, have you had lunch?" Tian asked.
"I've eaten," Song Yuehua said, "I ate a few buns outside."
Mother Mu suddenly remembered something and said to Song Yuehua, "Miss Song, wait a moment."
After saying that, he pushed his wheelchair into the house.
The thresholds inside and outside the house had been repaired. After asking Tian, I found out that it was all thanks to Zhang Erniu.
