Chapter 8 Making Money



After they finished eating, they couldn't stop praising the food.

Aunt Zhang finished her hawthorns, still feeling unsatisfied, and asked, "Fang Chu, are you planning to sell these?"

Zhao Fangchu nodded.

Aunt Zhang asked about the price again, and this time Zhao Fangchu turned his attention to Yang Donghu.

Yang Donghu said, "We sell them individually, one penny each."

When Aunt Zhang heard that it was one cent each, she looked a little hesitant. An ordinary candied haws was three cents a string, with five hawthorns on it.

Now the hawthorns are sold individually, one penny each, which is not very cheap.

Yang Donghu noticed Aunt Zhang's hesitation, thought for a moment, and said, "Our hawthorns are large, and the icing on them isn't as hard as candied haws, so they're edible to both the elderly and children."

Seeing Aunt Zhang's expression soften, Yang Donghu continued, "Aunt, we sell them for one cent each, but if you buy five cents at a time, we'll give you an extra one. What do you think?"

Most people in the village had just sold their grain and had some spare money. No one would be reluctant to spend a few cents on snacks like this to make the children happy.

Aunt Zhang didn't hesitate when she heard this. She took out her purse and counted out five copper coins.

Yang Donghu gestured to Zhao Fangchu to take the money, then wrapped six hawthorns in oil paper and handed them to Aunt Zhang: "Take these, Aunt."

With a good start, it will be much easier to sell it later.

"Help me pack six too."

"I want one too. I have many children at home. I'll buy the ten-cent one."

"Give me some too..."
