Ke Meiyu walked to her dormitory and saw that the door was still locked, the lock was rusty and covered with a thick layer of dust.
The girls passing by quickened their pace, their expressions strange and filled with deep sympathy.
Even after walking a distance, they were still discussing it with lingering fear: "Who did that girl offend? How did she end up in that dorm room?"
"Who knows? Maybe she's just too pretty and it's an eyesore to someone."
Ke Meiyu lowered her eyes and chuckled softly as she calmly opened the door. Inside, there were three bunk beds, two large wooden tables, six wooden chairs, and six wooden cabinets, all covered with a thick layer of dust.
She closed her eyes and carefully sensed the surroundings, but did not notice anything unusual in the house.
Being able to have a room all to herself, Ke Meiyu felt very comfortable.
She cast a dust-clearing spell, and the room immediately became clean, dust-free, and brand new.
She untied the sack, and with a slight movement of her fingers, the quilts, sheets, pillows, and pillowcases seemed to sprout wings and fluttered onto a bed, where they were laid out and folded in just a few seconds.
She pointed again, and the books, daily necessities, and clothes in another sack were neatly arranged on the cabinets, tabletops, and floor.
After enjoying a delicious cup of milk tea to replenish her lost energy, Ke Meiyu slung her backpack over her shoulder, locked the door, and left lightly amidst the gossip peeking through the crack in the door.
"Didn't she react at all? No one's lived here for so long, it must be filthy and messy inside. Shouldn't she get some water and clean it up?"
“All the dorm rooms are full, and she’s the only one living in that room. Doesn’t she have any questions about it?”
"Perhaps ignorance is bliss?"
"Forget it, this isn't our business. Let's say less, lest someone use it against us..."
Everyone shut up, grabbed their books, and went out to class.
After going downstairs, Ke Yuanxia first pulled Ke Meiyu aside and asked her a series of questions: "Girl, are the people in your dorm easy to get along with? Did you give them candy or pastries or anything to show your goodwill?"
"Where are they from? Which college are they from? What are their personalities like?"
"Let me tell you, you can't always be all smiles. Some people bully the weak and fear the strong. You have to occasionally show your fist and let them know you're not someone to mess with..."
"Second Brother, I'm the only one in the dorm," Ke Meiyu said with a smile as she got into Qin Yuanjiu's car. "I don't have to worry about anyone using the chamber pot in the room!"
Ke Yuanxia was taken aback, scratched his head, and muttered, "This girl is really lucky. Even though all the dorms are full, she still managed to snag a single room..."
Qin Yuanjiu couldn't help but say to Ke Meiyu, "If you're scared living alone, just tell me. The third floor isn't that high; I can climb up it with my bare hands."
Ke Meiyu snorted, "No need, the whole building is full of people, what am I afraid of?"
She has many tricks up her sleeve and has seen real demons and monsters. Why would she be afraid of other people's tricks?
Besides, spiritual energy is scarce in the world and can't support any large ghosts or monsters. The talismans she draws tirelessly every day can easily scare them away!
Being able to have a room all to herself, Ko Mi-yu couldn't be happier.
"You'll pick me up from get out of class every day," she said, not wanting to miss out on grinding for peace points.
Qin Yuanjiu nodded, "Okay, but you have to take Yun Bao'er with you so you can let me know if anything happens."
When she arrived at the classroom, Ke Meiyu sat with the two girls again.
"Ke, have you checked in yet? It seems like our floor is full." They asked with concern.
“It’s done. It’s in Building 13, a single room on the third floor,” she replied with a smile.
The two were taken aback and couldn't help but confirm again: "Are you sure it's the third floor of building number thirteen?"
“Yes,” she said, taking out her check-in slip and slapping it in front of the two of them. “Room 314.”
"You, just you alone?" The two of them were already sweating profusely for her.
“Of course,” Ke Meiyu said with a smile, “The dormitory building was just painted the year before last, it’s really new. Although it’s a six-person room, I’m the only one living there. It’s spacious, comfortable, clean and tidy.”
The two girls couldn't help but exchange a glance, their faces showing anxiety and worry.
"Ke, you should bypass the teachers and dormitory supervisor and hurry up and find someone to change your dormitory. It would be better if you could stay off campus. That room is really uninhabitable!" Huo Chengfang said in a very low but serious voice.
“Yes, Ke, I think you’re being targeted,” Xia Haifeng nodded repeatedly.
"What happened?" Ke Meiyu asked, pursing her lips.
After hesitating for a moment, Xia Haifeng leaned close to her ear and said, "Ke, I'm only thinking about your safety. You, you can't tell anyone that I said that!"
Ke Meiyu nodded repeatedly, "Don't worry, there was no recording and no one else heard it. If I were to report you later, you can simply deny everything. So, you don't need to worry about that."
"After all, we are college students, and not just anyone can take us away."
Because of this, college students have relatively more freedom of speech, but many of them secretly ask others to act as witnesses and successfully report classmates who are blocking their way or whom they hate.
Xia Haifeng glanced at her watch and, seeing there was still some time before class, began to explain: "I heard it from a senior I know well. In the eyes of foreigners, 13 is a very unlucky number, and in the eyes of Xia Haifeng, 4 is also unlucky. Room 314 on the thirteenth floor is a notorious haunted house on campus!"
Huo Chengfang added, "Many schools are built on top of tombs in order to use the students' abundant yang energy to suppress evil spirits. Moreover, our Foreign Languages Department is newly expanded, and it has enclosed a mass grave, which happens to be Building No. 13!"
