Today is January 1st, 1983, the first day of business for Xia Hua Travel Agency. All the tour guides are out on the move, some going to the train station and bus station to pick up people, and others going to the airport to pick up people.
A fleet of red double-decker buses drove out of the travel agency headquarters, each equipped with a driver, a tour guide, and two apprentices.
Ke Meiyu followed one of the cars straight to the airport, accompanied by three other vehicles. The groups they were picking up were different.
Upon arrival at the airport, the driver waited where he was, while Ke Meiyu, leading two apprentices, stood at the exit carrying signs, hats, small flags, and other items.
They were dressed in modified winter Hanfu in red, yellow, and blue, with exquisite rabbit fur felt hats. They were all young and beautiful, holding small flags from Xia Hua Travel Agency and signs in foreign languages welcoming foreign friends from XO, which attracted a lot of attention!
There aren't many international flights right now, especially from the XO direction, which has only four flights around noon.
Flights arrived one after another, and tourists who had booked by phone could easily find their guides. Upon meeting the three guides, they couldn't help but praise their beauty and express their anticipation for the week-long trip.
Xia Hua Travel Agency can also be found at the airport. On the east side of the airport, there is a row of quaint buildings that are like a microcosm of Kyoto's food and art scene. They can provide customers who are traveling home or visiting relatives and friends with high-quality and inexpensive local specialties, and can also help with shipping.
Of course, people waiting for their flights can also enjoy affordable and authentic food.
While waiting, these overseas tourists took the opportunity to experience the abundance, mystery, and beauty of Xiahua, and also to fill their stomachs.
Once all the tourists arrived, they headed to the hotel.
Xia Hua Travel Agency has many hotels, located throughout Kyoto, each with its own unique features, ensuring guests are always immersed in enjoyment and comfort.
Their first stop was a guesthouse closest to the airport, a spacious area. Because the organization has made significant progress in agriculture, grain production has been continuously breaking records, and arable land is no longer as scarce as before.
The land here is relatively barren, and Ke Meiyu has leased it out and hired villagers as employees.
They borrowed agricultural machinery for deep plowing and hired experts to adjust the soil's pH level. They then applied organic fertilizer before planting various crops. In winter, they even covered the land with thick plastic film to grow various fruits and vegetables.
The hotels are all small, family-run farmhouses, kept clean and tidy, and reflecting the local style in every detail.
Visitors can enter the greenhouse to pick fruits and vegetables, and then the local women cook for them. These women are all professionally trained, and the food is fresh, fragrant, and delicious. For overseas tourists, it's like suddenly jumping out of a well and seeing the wonderful world outside!
However, Xia Hua's culinary delights were only the tip of the iceberg in front of them.
The children would also lead everyone in digging pits to build simple earthen stoves, roasting vegetables and grains to eat, which was quite fun. The M tribe was once a branch of the royal family. Because of their remote location, they were not disturbed by the outside world and have retained their original simplicity.
In the afternoon, they changed into riding clothes, rode horses, and participated in a bonfire party, singing and dancing – a completely different experience.
According to Ke Meiyu, culture transcends national boundaries; it is something that can be infectious and make others recognize and like it.
At each destination, tourists can change into clothes provided by the travel agency, and the hotels they stay in are also of various themes to satisfy the preferences of people of all ages.
Not to mention, a photographer will be on-site throughout the entire process, and the developed photos will be professionally edited into beautiful, artistic prints. All the services combined make it incredibly affordable!
The week-long trip was pleasant and enjoyable, with each activity seamlessly connected, leaving one feeling overwhelmed. It was truly a case of spending money, having fun, and even bringing home a bunch of souvenirs.
The tour guides looked exhausted. At least during their grueling training, they often wanted to give up. There was so much to memorize, and so many measures to deal with unexpected situations. Every hurdle was overcome step by step by working together.
However, this is their moment of reward. The different outfits brightened their mood, and their fluent speech, enthusiastic attitude, and smiling demeanor, along with hundreds and thousands of training sessions, made them confident and humorous. Their personal charm won the hearts of tourists.
After seeing off the first group of tourists, they did not stop and continued to receive the second group.
Without any boredom or impatience, the tour guides felt that after all the hardships of this profession, they were now proficient and accomplished, recognizing it as an indelible achievement and an important step in proudly showcasing the beauty of China to the world!
Grandpa Ke and Grandma Ke also have their own tasks.
They had taken brain-clearing pills and had their bodies conditioned, so their brains were quite sharp. Although they couldn't remember everything they saw, they were comparable to young people.
The two elderly people were strict with themselves and worked hard to receive tour guide training with other young people. After Xia Hua Travel Agency opened, they contacted various nursing homes.
They personally led the elderly on sightseeing tours. The elderly had common topics to discuss, and each time they didn't go too far, just visiting one or two attractions, and they would go to the rest next time they had the chance.
Over time, the two elderly people made quite a few good friends.
Once the travel agency was running smoothly, it recouped its construction costs within two years, and the employees' salaries were increased twice.
During the Chinese New Year, Ke Meiyu and Ying Yan both hosted year-end banquets for their companies, bringing out all sorts of employee benefits. There were raffles with grand prizes including televisions, sewing machines, bicycles, tape recorders, watches, and even the prizes for excellence included a set of New Year's gifts, such as candy, snacks, and nuts.
