Ke Meiyu was furious, but she could only watch and did nothing!
A group of people exited the train station with practiced ease, and soon wandered around the nearby alleys until they stopped in front of a dilapidated courtyard house.
They looked around furtively, then knocked on the door in a very rhythmic manner.
"Who is it?" After a short while, someone came out of the courtyard and asked in a low voice.
“It’s your Aunt Zhang. She’s stopped by to rest and brought you some local specialties from her hometown,” a woman replied softly.
The door creaked open, and a lean, wrinkled old man poked his head out, habitually looking around before beckoning them, "Come in quickly, haven't you seen anyone else along the way?"
“No, we took a roundabout route, always going behind them. We hunched over when passing the windows, so no one noticed! Besides,” seeing the door close, the woman in the lead slightly raised her chin, patted the bundle in her arms and the basket on her back, “we covered them up so well, who would know there were children inside?”
"That's right, Mr. Niu, we're all veterans, we won't make any silly mistakes! Come and take a look at this batch, there are quite a few good seedlings."
Uncle Niu merely gave them a warning and then led them into the house with a faint smile.
The sky had darkened, and the dim yellow light bulbs on the old house swayed as the door opened and closed, casting jagged shadows of everyone.
They dug all the children out. The lovely and beautiful children were sleeping soundly, completely unaware of what awaited them, including the little dumpling who had been with her day and night for the past few days.
Ke Meiyu clenched her teeth tightly; she hadn't been this angry in a long time.
Besides Uncle Niu, there were two other men in the house.
They checked the children together and jotted down some notes on a piece of paper: "Alright, let's stick to the price we agreed on before: 500 for girls and 800 for boys."
After some haggling, the group left satisfied with a thick wad of cash.
"Let's find a hotel to rest and have some fun. Maybe we can even find a few kids to make some money." They discussed as they walked away.
Ke Meiyu squinted and followed them, only turning back when she saw where they were staying.
But time suddenly sped up, and Ke Meiyu watched as the little boy was sold to a middle-aged couple who both worked. After he woke up, he kept looking for opportunities to leave, like a stubborn sparrow caught in a cage.
Even when he was beaten until his body was covered in bruises, locked in a dark room for three days until he was on the verge of death from hunger, or tied up and forced to take medicine, he never gave up wanting to go home!
Finally, after one of his escape attempts, Lu Yuehai was beaten to death by the couple and dumped in a secluded, dark, and foul-smelling alley.
Ke Meiyu stared at that thin, stiff little bundle, her heart aching with pain, wishing she could tear those human traffickers and that couple to pieces!
But then the scene shifts to the Lu family, who have been frantically searching for their child since he went missing.
The Lu family's matriarch and patriarch fell seriously ill one after the other, and passed away before they could find their child.
The Lu couple took a long leave of absence, visited many places, and asked many people for help. Finally, six months later, they were summoned to the Kyoto police station and saw the little guy who was already smelling foul.
Unable to accept this reality, the two lived like zombies.
Lu Zhensheng sacrificed his life in an overseas operation, and Zheng Qianqian, disheartened, applied to be transferred to the most dangerous front line, where she also died a heroic death!
Why are there so many people who destroy countless families for their own selfish interests?
Ke Meiyu woke up abruptly, fuming. "Xiao Wen, did what happened in my dream actually happen?"
Xiao Wen came online looking pitiful, saying, "Yes, because the host has completed a hidden side quest, it will automatically receive the original information."
Hearing this, Ke Meiyu quickly got up, paced around the room twice, and then hurried outside. "Grandma, Mom, I'm not eating at home. I'm going to town with Comrade Qin to buy some things."
"Hey, Yu Bao'er, bring some hard-boiled eggs..." The old lady chased after her with two eggs in her hand, but there was no one there.
Mrs. Ke muttered in puzzlement, "What urgent matter could this girl have? I didn't hear her mention it last night. She rushed around without changing her clothes, combing her hair, or washing her face. She's such a worry."
"With Xiao Qin here, what are you worried about?" the old lady said with a smile, showing no concern.
Then she leaned in very mysteriously and whispered to Ke's mother: "When Tianlei came to deliver roe deer meat last time, he knew that Yu Bao'er was going to build a house, so he carried a whole wild boar early in the morning and had someone prepare it for him."
"Don't make a fuss. Just put some in the food when you cook for the workers. Have Lao Si go to town every now and then so everyone knows that we bought the meat."
The old lady's family home was located several mountain ridges away; they were truly mountain people who relied on the mountains for their livelihood, and their lives were extremely difficult and impoverished. However, during festivals, the old lady's nephews would go to great lengths to bring mountain goods as gifts.
However, such frequent visits were rare. Mother Ke smiled and replied, "Mother, Tianlei and his brothers have had it tough too. It's kind of them to remember you when they have something good to eat."
"Once the house is built, let the child's father take Yu Bao'er and our son-in-law to An'nan Village for a visit and to familiarize them with the place!"
The old lady nodded and sighed, "It's time to go back. Come to think of it, it's been years since I've been back. Tianlei and the others have been bringing me gifts. I don't know how many more years I'll be able to go back."
"Mom, Xiaoyuer just got married. You'll have plenty of time to enjoy life from now on, so don't think about this."
"Yes, yes, why would I bring this up on such a happy day?"
While the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were busily preparing the meal, Ke Mei rushed to the cowshed like the wind. Seeing that Qin Yuanjiu's door was ajar, she pushed it open.
The man stood with his back to the door, wiping the sweat from his body with a cloth.
On his broad and sturdy back, the muscle texture was clearly defined and exuded explosive power. Even from several meters away, Ke Meiyu could almost feel the man's warm and intense hormonal aura.
She quickly turned her back, and thinking of Tang Aiyu, who was eyeing her covetously next door, she gritted her teeth and said, "Why didn't you close the door when you were changing clothes?"
After slowly wiping himself clean and changing his clothes, Qin Yuanjiu chuckled lightly, "Besides you, who else is so rude as to barge into a man's room without knocking?"
Ke Meiyu hummed, "I have a very urgent matter!"
"Hmm, I can tell," Qin Yuanjiu frowned slightly, noticing that she was wearing only a thin cotton coat with creases from sleeping all night and her hair was disheveled and flying around. He pursed his lips and still asked calmly, "What urgent matter could you possibly have?"
"I," Ke Meiyu began, then realized she had acted too impulsively.
She was only worried about the children who had been abducted along with Xiao Tuanzi, but she couldn't verify whether what happened in her dream was true or false.
