Chapter 7 What Else Is Impossible?

The words "separation of the family property" were too sensitive and alarmed even the old man.

"What is Yu Bao'er saying?" The old man, stroking his pipe and wearing a coat, came out with a frown. "I could hear you two arguing in the kitchen from inside the house."

Ke Meiyu smiled and took the old man's arm:

"Sir, I've been a bit too much of a troublemaker these past few days, but when we're alone, I've thought a lot about things."

I am loved by my grandparents, my parents and five older brothers, and pampered by my maternal grandparents and three uncles. I have a lot of confidence in what I wear and eat.

Because we didn't separate from the family, it's as if I'm stepping on the heads of the other three families, and I've inexplicably earned the bad reputation of being a little bloodsucker.

"Right now, my second uncle's family is unhappy. I wonder what the other uncles and aunts will think when my five older brothers and I get married."

"Most families in the village live like this, with parents still alive," the old lady said, shaking her head after thinking for a moment. "If our family were to separate, I wonder what the villagers would say."

"Your grandfather and I have always had upright spines; they'll be bent by being poked!"

"Sir, what do you think?" Ke Meiyu turned her head to look at the old man.

Grandpa Ke lit his pipe and took several puffs, his voice hoarse as he said:

"Girl, tell me your thoughts."

"Oh, old man, Yu Bao'er is so impulsive, why are you joining in her fuss?" The old lady glared at him helplessly.

The old man waved his hand, signaling Ke Meiyu to continue.

Ke Meiyu chuckled and counted on her fingers as she said:

"Grandpa and grandma have worried about their children and grandchildren their whole lives, but in the end they don't get any praise. Everyone thinks you are biased."

My eldest uncle got the job of brigade leader because of my grandfather's influence; my second uncle has many daughters, but every one of them has a son-in-law who is a good young man in the surrounding area, and their family will enjoy their good days ahead; my third uncle went to high school and has always been the village's scorekeeper, holding real power!

My father also had a grandfather, and he married my mother from Fuwo.

To be honest, you two really try your best to treat each other equally, but you spoil me too much. Everyone is deceived by this appearance and is quite resentful.

If you ask me, my uncles and my dad are all at the age where they should be grandfathers, so they should learn to support their families.

With you two keeping an eye on them, they won't make any mistakes.

The old man took a deep drag on his pipe, pondered for a moment, and nodded. A sense of weariness and helplessness turned into a sigh: "Seventh girl is right. How can we, the old couple, really take care of them for a lifetime?"

"It would be better to take advantage of my old bones while they're still hale and hearty and help them supervise and guide them."

"Old man, you..." The old lady looked at him in shock.

No one understands him better than his wife, because Grandpa Ke has experienced too much, including war, famine, and separation from loved ones, which makes him cherish the lively family life together as he gets older.

"Old woman, don't try to persuade me anymore. The girl's words have woken up this blockhead. Rather than let the children resent us in the future, it's better to let them live their own lives."

The village is only so big, how far can they go?

Besides, we are still their parents and grandparents. If they really don't care about us, the villagers could drown them with their spit!

"That's settled then. Tonight, let's work a little harder, sort through all the things in the house, and divide everything into six portions. One portion for the two of us, one portion for each of the four families, and the remaining portion will be reserved for the unmarried children."

Ke Meiyu blinked, a sly glint in her lowered eyelids.

The family has been divided, and so fairly at that, the female lead's passion has nowhere to go!

People will only say that the old man and woman are righteous and fair, and considering the actions of the second wife today, this filth may be smeared back onto the second wife.

Back in the room, Ke Meiyu tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. Without the crude isolation array set up by the big boss, all sorts of autumn insect chirps, the occasional crowing of roosters and barking of dogs, people snoring and talking in their sleep, and other discordant sounds all rushed in at once.

What's more, she was only 10% full, and she was protesting loudly!

Ke Meiyu couldn't help but lick her lips, her divine sense gazing towards the mountains hidden in the darkness behind the village.

Unable to bear the hunger any longer, she tiptoed out of bed, changed into a set of coarse cloth clothes that the original owner had kept at the bottom of her trunk, grabbed a box of matches she had just swiped from the kitchen, opened the window, picked up a bamboo basket from under the eaves, and darted out like a cat.

She had barely left the village when the little food she had was completely used up, so she had to force herself to keep walking despite her hunger.

Luofeng Village is located near the great mountain range in the north-central part of Xia Hua Kingdom. The continuous mountain range has kept this village relatively undisturbed by worldly troubles.

During those turbulent years, it seemed to have been forgotten, becoming the place where the original female protagonist accumulated capital and made her leap forward.

Because farmland yields were low in those days, and a considerable amount of grain had to be handed over to the state, every household had to tighten their belts to make ends meet. Wild vegetables, fruits, and even wild rabbits and pheasants around the mountains became their most important supplementary food!

Ke Meiyu kept walking into the deep mountains, crossing three mountains before stopping when her legs became sore and trembling.

Following the faint sounds the pheasants made from their throats, Ke Meiyu used pebbles to catch three groups of pheasants, harvesting over a hundred wild eggs! During this time, she couldn't wait to drink the raw water from more than a dozen eggs to replenish her strength.

Upon arriving at the riverbank, she was reluctant to put down her heavy basket, so she tirelessly searched for large stones, intending to use her divine sense to find a secluded spot to build a sturdy stove.

After walking a few steps, she discovered a small cave that had been empty for a long time on the cliff face.

Ke Meiyu's eyes lit up, and in a few quick movements, she clung to the cave entrance, parted the dense green plants hanging down, and crawled inside.

Although it was very dark inside the cave, her vision was not hindered when she used her divine sense.

Ke Meiyu glanced around and suddenly her gaze fell on a cluster of green plants extending from above. She discovered that the stones above it were like a ceiling with a small hollow space inside, where a heavy suitcase was hidden!

With a raised eyebrow, she leaped up, grabbed onto the crevice in the rock, and dragged the box out.

The wooden rattan box was quite rustic and had a strong Republican-era feel to it. Moreover, Ke Meiyu discovered that her divine sense could not penetrate the box to see it!

Interesting. In the post-apocalyptic world, people gained superpowers due to meteorites carrying a lot of energy and microorganisms. A group of extraordinary people who could fly and walk on the ground also emerged. It wouldn't be strange if things like formations, talismans, and ancient martial arts appeared in novels!

After all, if there are zombies, what else is impossible?
