Chapter 24 This little sword was a gift from Sister Song to his son.

Even though his soul was trapped here, he always had a good mindset. How could he be so obsessed that he went mad and even wanted to defy the will of heaven?

Suddenly, the old man paused, closed his eyes, and used his divine sense to carefully perceive the surroundings.

"Damn it, what kind of resentment is attacking my mind?!"

That wisp of resentment was so small as to be negligible, yet it seeped deep into his mind.

"Little girl, could it be that the resentment from Beihe affected my mind just now?"

But how did that subtle, almost imperceptible resentment get into the little girl's dantian?

Song Siyao's gaze turned cold, and he hesitated with some doubt.

"But I didn't sense any resentment."

"That shouldn't be the case. We've been together for over a decade. I've long since realized the limitations imposed on me by the Heavenly Dao, and my obsession has long since dissipated. How could it have reignited today?"

The old man squatted down, scratching his head, but still couldn't figure it out.

The feeling of being manipulated and out of control was terrifying. The old man shuddered, and suddenly his cloudy gaze sharpened.

"I see!"

"When I saw your sister, the person lying there had been possessed by a Yin Corpse. That boy had an unusual physical condition; his soul often left his body and wandered around. Otherwise, it would take at least a month for someone to die after being possessed by a Yin Corpse. He became so seriously ill after only a few days."

"The souls in the Northern River have all been affected by resentment!"

“Little girl, listen to me, go find the Lord of Beihe City immediately—no, no, find your Ningxuan True Man too—and tell them this news quickly, or Beihe will be in trouble.”

"Go quickly!"

Urged on, Song Siyao tore off a teleportation talisman and presented it to Ningxuan Zhenren.

Just as he was boasting to his old friends about his fighting achievements that day, Master Ningxuan's radiant face turned completely blank the moment he saw her.

"Hey, Si Yao, what are you doing?"

These days, young girls have all sorts of quirks; they can just teleport into an old man's room without even saying hello.

Although he defended her today, Master Ningxuan always treated everyone equally, and he was about to criticize her when she shut him up.

"Beihe's soul has been affected by resentment. Senior Uncle, please go and inform the city lord immediately."

Ningxuan Zhenren's expression changed.

Do you have any evidence?

Beihe has its own protective formation, so how could any resentment possibly get in?

If this is true... then that would be terrible.

While questioning the matter, Master Ningxuan had already gotten up, intending to investigate whether it was true or false, otherwise he would not be able to put his mind at ease.

Tell him to go find Chu Tan from the Suspended Pot Sect.

The old man reminded her, and Song Siyao did as he was told.

Ningxuan Zhenren flew away like a gust of wind, and before long, the city lord's mansion was in motion.

If resentment takes advantage of the situation, this could be a serious problem.

She couldn't get involved in such a big matter, so Song Siyao asked about what the old man with the jade pendant had said earlier, as she walked out.

"Where is that Bodhi root you mentioned earlier?"

The old man laughed heartily, "I thought you had forgotten."

After saying this, the old man sensed something and said, "Go east."

Following his lead, we finally stopped in front of a courtyard.

"It's inside, let me see—"

"Wow! Goodness, using bodhi root to prop up table legs, how extravagant!"

Song Siyao raised an eyebrow, "Doesn't this family know that it's a Bodhi root?"

"Why don't you ask him yourself? I'm an old man, I can't read minds."

Having banished his resentment and returned to normal, the old man elegantly rolled his eyes.

Given the dilapidated state of Beihe City, such a neat and clean courtyard suggests an unusual background.

She knocked on the door.

Before long, a woman dressed in linen but looking very neat and capable appeared, looking at the unfamiliar young girl with some wariness.

"Who are you looking for? What's the matter?"

Song Siyao pursed his lips and asked somewhat presumptuously, "Disciple of the Sword Inquiry Sect, may I come in for a cup of tea?"

In Beihe, there are many poor people who still engage in fraud.

The woman clearly didn't believe her. After looking her up and down several times, she turned around and called out into the courtyard, "Shentu, there's a girl from the Wenjian Sect. Come and take a look."

A moment later, the ground trembled slightly, and a bearded body cultivator taller than the door appeared before them.

Who is it?

The loud-voiced man was quite impatient. Everyone in Beihe knew he hated dealing with sects and powerful families. Who was so blind as to come looking for him?

Shentu Changqing opened the door, looked down, and met the eyes of the young sword cultivator with a tender face.

Song Siyao silently took two steps back, so that she didn't have to crane her neck to look at him.

"You are... the one who was struck by lightning, and the Sword Inquiry Sect disciple who knows Song."

Shen Tu Changqing stared at her for a long time. He had noticed her when the Sword Inquiry Sect came; she was the sect leader's personal disciple.

The youngest disciple of that famous sword master.

The tall, burly man paused, then stepped aside. "We don't have tea, but water is fine."

His wife looked at him in disbelief. How could he have let such a pretty young girl from a sect into the house?

Is there anything special about this little girl?

Suppressing her doubts, the woman went to the yard to fetch well water and found some snacks that her son liked to treat her.

Song Siyao silently held the wooden cup, listening to the old man in her dantian cover his face in disbelief, "The Bodhi root is right under your feet, you really want to use it to prop up a table leg?"

She glanced at it silently out of the corner of her eye and saw a small, dusty, and inconspicuous wooden strip on the right corner of the table.

This kind of thing doesn't suit Song Tingwan's ethereal beauty at all.

She drifted off into thought at an inopportune moment.

"Fellow Daoist, you really came for a drink of water?"

Seeing that she remained silent for a long time, Shentu Changqing knew he wasn't one to hold back.

Song Siyao glanced at him calmly and pointed to the Bodhi root at her feet.

"I want to buy this piece of wood."
