Chapter 24 This little sword was a gift from Sister Song to his son.

Upon hearing this, the couple exchanged a bewildered glance.

Is this little girl sick? Why is she buying a piece of wood from their house?

Their thoughts were written all over their faces. Song Siyao lowered his eyes slightly and said, "This piece of wood is a Bodhi root, which is extinct in the world."

The old man shook his head, smiled, and sighed: "If you hadn't told them, they would have happily sold it to you long ago."

Telling them the true value would probably be difficult.

"What? I just picked this up on the mountain." Shentu Changqing bent down to look at the piece of wood, but he couldn't see anything special about it no matter how he looked at it.

“Bodhi root is very valuable, but I want to buy it for my relatives. I secretly hope that you two fellow practitioners will sell it to me, but I have nothing of equal value to exchange.”

"I have a thousand high-grade spirit stones, a hundred thousand low-grade spirit stones, one seventh-grade pill, one eighth-grade pill, dozens of spirit artifacts, and about a hundred magic artifacts."

"...I hope you two fellow Daoists will give this a consideration."

There was a pile of glittering spirit stones, and a pile of mysterious magical artifacts.

The couple had never seen so many things in Beihe before.

It truly dazzled them.

Why bother?

The old man shook his head. "You're too kind-hearted. What will you do if they insist on taking it to the auction house?"

"You're not going to care about your sister's health?"

Song Siyao shook her head. "If they insist on sending it to the auction house, I will go back and ask my master for spirit stones."

Her Daoist heart wouldn't allow her to take advantage of this.

They should know the value of this thing.

Instead of being deceived.

She sat upright, quietly drinking her water.

The couple stared at each other in shock.

She felt this matter needed to be considered, so she took the initiative to say, "I'll go back first. You can come find me if you've made up your minds."

"My name is Song Siyao."

After giving her name, she got up to leave, but was stopped by Shen Tu Changqing's gesture of bowing.

Song Siyao looked up, her expression unreadable.

"I've heard that you are a personal disciple of the Sword Master, is that true?"

Shen Tu Changqing, unusually serious, put on a stern face, his unsmiling expression becoming even more fierce.

Song Siyao nodded lightly. This time, Shen Tu Changqing breathed a sigh of relief, rubbed his hands, and picked up the piece of wood that was propping up the table.

I offer it with both hands.

“Take this Bodhi root, we don’t need any of your things, I only ask for one thing.”

Song Siyao raised an eyebrow. Under her cold, indifferent gaze, the couple exchanged a glance and respectfully pleaded, "Could you let my son enter the Sword Inquiry Sect to learn swordsmanship?"

"We don't ask for anything else, just to be formal disciples, even outer disciples are fine."

Shentu Changqing's throat tightened, and he spoke with difficulty.

He disliked dealing with sect disciples, but that's how the world is, and the resources of sects are usually unmatched, let alone the number one sect.

He and his wife wanted to send their only child away from this small town of Beihe.

Song Siyao looked at him silently, her brows slowly furrowing.

She would readily agree to do things for him, but when it came to the Sword Inquiry Sect...

Aside from granting Song Tingwan a month's leave by taking advantage of her connections, she didn't make any other exceptions.

Seeing her expression, Shen Tu Changqing and his wife nervously swallowed.

"...How old are your children, and what are their abilities like?"

Shentu Changqing pursed his lips and said honestly, "Six years old, red aptitude."

Finally, at his wife's prompting, he added, "But my son really loves swordsmanship. I've taken him out to meet many people, and he wants to learn swordsmanship."

Thinking of that little child, with a serious face, telling him that he wanted to become a sword cultivator and come back to slay all the demons of the Northern River, he couldn't help but soften his heart.

Song Siyao's gaze softened slightly, and the red light was about to enter the outer gate.

"You've met the requirements to enter the Sword Inquiry Sect. Although you're a bit too young, it's still worth a try. Why didn't you climb the Heavenly Ladder this year?"

When asked this question, Shentu Changqing looked somber.

"It's too far, we're worried about the little one going alone, besides..."

There is a rule in Beihe: unless a sect comes here in person to accept disciples, no one else may join a sect or a family.

This restricts their right to join a sect, confining them to the barren North River to struggle on their own.

Shentu Changqing averted his gaze and remained silent, feeling stifled.

He can't say it, or he and his wife will die.

"Is there something you can't say? But since the requirements have been met, six years old is just right for him to cultivate qi. I can take him back."

After saying that, Song Siyao reached out and took the dusty Bodhi root, carefully placed it in his storage ring, and then looked at the couple, asking where the child was.

We'll meet him first, and he can be taken away after the matter of the Northern River Demon King is settled.

"Oh right, I'll go and call the kid back."

The woman snapped back to reality, unable to suppress a smile, and ran out, pulling open the door and shouting into the street, "Little Fish! Come home—"

The roar irritated his eardrums, and Song Siyao silently touched his ear.

After a long while, the cheerful little guy didn't come running back.

The woman frowned instinctively.

"Little fish—"

"If you don't come back soon, I'll beat you up!"

Two more fierce shouts followed.

There has still been no response.

Shen Tu Changqing suddenly ran out and quickly ran to the alley entrance where the little brats often squatted and played with wooden swords.

It's empty.

Hearing the shouting, the neighbors opened their doors. "What's going on? We're looking for your little fish."

Shen Tu Changqing, with a stern face, asked her in a solemn voice, "Where did those little brats go?"

"If it's not here, it's definitely under the bridge or in the dilapidated temple at the end of the alley. Those little ones have been going to these places lately."

The neighbor's child was also playing with those kids, and upon hearing this, smiled and pointed in the direction.
