Chapter 62 After Marriage

Chapter 62 After Marriage

The man came against the wind, his steps firm.

The moment their eyes met, the man's gaze softened instantly, but he didn't stop walking.

He seemed to be in a hurry, taking two steps at a time to get onto the platform.

The eunuchs and guards below dared not look any longer, keeping their heads bowed tightly.

Just as Jialuo was about to bow to the man, he grabbed her arm.

The man spoke in a low voice, "Why are you standing at the door without wearing an outer garment? You'll catch a cold."

His hand followed his arm and naturally grasped Galo's hand.

Jialuo lowered her gaze slightly, landing on the hand the man was holding.

His hands were large and strong, with distinct knuckles.

"Your Majesty, Jialuo is not cold."

She pursed her lips and answered softly.

After speaking, she turned to go inside, but her hand remained in the man's palm, without the slightest struggle.

"Is it alright to eat?"

Fu Lin took her hand and followed her through the door.

The shadow of the man behind her seemed to be covering up Jialuo's shadow.

Galo could also clearly feel the man's strength behind her.

"I was on my way to court when I heard that the Prince had come to visit you?"

He spoke slowly, his tone cautious, as if afraid of upsetting her.

Jialuo then turned to look at the man, her gaze sweeping across his eyes, afraid that he would blame Abu for coming straight to her without first seeing the Emperor.

“Abu was worried that I was upset about my homework, so he came to see me in such a hurry.”

Fu Lin looked at her and raised an eyebrow slightly, a smile playing on his lips. His expression relaxed, and he said, "I know that if there is any elder in the world who can truly be called loving and caring towards you, it is probably only your father-in-law."

Jialuo nodded slightly, but for a moment she didn't know what to say, or rather, she didn't have anything to say at all.

The two sat by the south window, dappled sunlight falling on them, while around them, light and shadow intertwined and shifted.

Like a painting, dust rises and falls amidst the light and shadow.

It's like a small world, showing one person's entire life.

Jialuo felt that the man's gaze was always fixed on her face.

She was just about to let the Emperor go and rest when he spoke first.

"There is one more thing that I think you should know."

"This morning, the emperor's father-in-law submitted a memorial requesting that all of Anglama's titles be revoked, and that her soul be returned to her hometown to rest in peace on the Horqin grassland."

Jialuo turned her head and met the man's dark eyes.

From the man's resolute gaze, she knew that what Fu Linfang said was true.

Jialuo frowned slightly, but for a moment she didn't know how to start the conversation.

For an imperial concubine to be stripped of all her titles and sent back to her hometown was an extremely humiliating thing in that era.

Angrama spent her entire life vying with her for her father's love and for the love of men, and now, after her death, she receives no pity from anyone.

For some reason, at that moment, Galo felt no joy.

For her, Angrama's death must have been a painful experience as well.

Why did Abu's white hair appear overnight?

Her mother…

Jialuo knew that she would probably never see her mother again in her lifetime.

How can Mother find peace when her real biological daughter has died?

The man was looking at her, and Jialuo knew he was waiting for her consent.

Jialuo would never disagree with Abu. She nodded slightly to Fulin and said in a low voice, "Abu feels sorry for Fifth Sister, but she also knows that she has caused a great disaster. Fifth Sister's return to her hometown is a way of taking responsibility for her, but it also allows her to return to Abu's embrace."

"That's certainly a good thing."

After speaking, Jialuo withdrew her gaze, her eyes inadvertently glancing at the man's right hand, her eyelashes trembling slightly.

"Jialuo, I didn't handle last night's events well. The situation was extremely dangerous, and I still feel sorry for you."

“I was born in the palace and am truly foolish in matters of the heart. Jialuo, you are kind-hearted and more tolerant of the world than I am.”

“From a very early age, my gaze was involuntarily drawn to you, but I was so foolish and unrepentant that I caused you so much suffering.”

"This is all my fault."

"As for Dong E, Jialuo, Dong E abandoned my brother and instead seduced me. This is something that disgusts me."

"I just didn't want to touch her for a while, and later I even used her to keep you in check because you were born into the Borjigit clan."

"Jialuo, I know you don't really have much affection for me, but perhaps you could at least look at me honestly,"

"And I will correct my mistakes and will never let anyone bully you again."

Upon hearing this, Jialuo showed no change in emotion. She simply straightened her back, turned her head, and looked at Fulin solemnly.

After Fu Lin finished speaking, Jia Luo looked at the man's earnest gaze and pursed her lips.

The man's gaze lingered on her face, but he saw not a trace of the shyness or joy a woman should have when she heard her husband's confession.

Gradually, his expression changed from eager to calm.

"Yes, I know these words are ill-timed. You should be resting properly at this time."

After speaking to Jialuo, he looked at the security guard beside him and ordered, "Prepare the meal."

"Your Majesty, I have always been loyal to you, but in other matters, as for..."

Jialuo thought that just because Fulin had protected her so forcefully last night, she shouldn't lie to him. So she wanted to tell the man everything she was thinking.

Just as Jialuo was about to say that she had no romantic feelings for him, the man grabbed Jialuo's hand, which was resting on her waist.

"No need,"

"I know that telling you this today is too abrupt."

"We can talk about these things another day."

After Fu Lin finished speaking, he smiled at Jia Luo and then led her to have a meal.

Since Jialuo was interrupted and heard the man say that, she didn't continue speaking.

After the two finished their meal in silence, Fulin had to go back to his official duties.

Before leaving, he placed a small box from his sleeve on the low table in front of Galo.

Jialuo was taken aback. When she looked up at the man, he took the opportunity to reach out and tap her forehead.

"Your Majesty..."

"I'm leaving, no need to see me off."

Jialu watched helplessly as the man strode away.

Once the man had disappeared, Jialuo sat back down on the couch, looking blankly at the small box.
