"Don't rush. We'll know if he's telling the truth or not when we find it tomorrow." She took out another silver ingot from her bosom. "Tomorrow, you wait for us here, and then take us to the mountain where Master Fu is. If we find it, I'll give you two more ingots of silver. Otherwise, I'll take you to the authorities and accuse you of fraud. If you don't come tomorrow, I'll find a way to drag you to the authorities, understand?"
The man's face turned pale, and he began to argue, "No way, how could we dare to blaspheme the gods?"
"Ayina, bring the silver back to me," Jiang Bai ordered coldly, his face stern.
Ayina was about to rush forward to snatch it when the man quickly covered the silver.
"Go, go, I'll go tomorrow."
Having received the man's reply, Jiang Bai left with Ayina. On the way, Ayina was still worried and asked many other people, all of whom believed that Master Fu was a deity and refused to reveal any other information.
She couldn't help but doubt herself: "Could there really be gods in this world?"
Jiang Bai, however, was quite certain: "No, if there really were gods in the world, there wouldn't be so many injustices going unaddressed. Are all those who live in the mountains gods? They could be monsters too."
Ayina frowned and muttered, "I don't think there's any monster here either..."
The two then returned to the inn, waiting to go up the mountain again the next day.
Jiang Bai returned to the door and reached out to push it open, but found that something was wrong inside.
Is someone in her room?
Thinking of this, she slowed her movement as she pushed the door open, and alertly watched the movements inside.
The door was opened, and there was indeed someone inside, but it wasn't a stranger. This person surprised and delighted Jiang Bai.
What are you doing here?
The person inside the room was Zhao Yi, who seemed to have come looking for him for some unknown reason.
Upon seeing Jiang Bai return, the first thing he did was to inquire about her health: "Have you been feeling unwell lately?"
Jiang Bai didn't want him to worry, so he shook his head and replied, "No, I'm fine, you don't need to worry."
Zhao Yi tapped her forehead: "You still dare to say you don't need to worry? You didn't even tell me when something happened. I'm your husband, and you, on the other hand, keep everything from me."
Jiang Bai rubbed his forehead, which had been throbbing from the knock, and said guiltily, "It's not that I'm hiding it from you, I just don't know how to tell you."
"snort!"
Jiang Bai sighed and rubbed his forehead: "Sigh, so you know everything now? Did the princess tell you?"
Besides Amu, only the princess knew about her poisoning. Amu had been following her all along, and she had told him not to let Zhao Yi know, so he wouldn't tell Zhao Yi.
Zhao Yi nodded: "She told me. After I found out, I entrusted the child to someone to take care of him and then rushed over."
Jiang Bai lowered her head in embarrassment, realizing she had worried him. She quickly changed the subject: "I already know where Elder Fu lives. The person said he lives on the mountain, and we plan to go up the mountain tomorrow."
"On the mountain? Is the information accurate?" Zhao Yi wondered why such a famous person would live on an unknown mountain.
Jiang Bai then told Zhao Yi everything he had gathered on the street.
Zhao Yi decided to accompany her tomorrow. Jiang Bai knew he wouldn't let her go alone, so she didn't refuse him again and turned to find Ayina.
Now that Zhao Yi is here, there's no need to trouble Ayina to stay with her and take care of her anymore. Amu will probably agree to let her go back.
Jiang Bai told Ayina about his considerations, and Ayina did not hesitate for long and immediately decided to return to the frontier.
With the situation on the border changing, Amu doesn't know what she might be going through there. If possible, she would naturally prefer to go back and help her master.
Now that she has Jiang Bai's permission, she can leave with peace of mind.
Jiang Bai left her some medicine specially prepared with spiritual liquid, and then went back.
The next day, Ayina set off back to the frontier, while Jiang Bai and Zhao Yi prepared to go up the mountain.
She arrived at the place she had agreed to meet the man the day before. Sure enough, the man was greedy for money but cowardly enough that he dared not break his promise.
The three of them set off towards the mountain they had agreed upon. When the man reached the foot of the mountain, he refused to go any further, and Jiang Bai did not make things difficult for him.
Now that the mountain has been found, it doesn't make much difference whether he goes up or not. It would be too much trouble to take someone who has no martial arts skills up there.
The young couple went up the mountain. The scenery on the mountain was quite nice. The snow had already melted, and some branches had sprouted tender green buds.
When they reached about halfway up the mountain, Jiang Bai stopped.
She pricked up her ears and suddenly asked, "Did you hear anything?"
Zhao Yi, who was focused on the road ahead, stopped and listened attentively when she asked him that question.
Sure enough, the howling of the mountain wind carried a faint cry for help.
"Someone is calling for help."
The two exchanged a glance and immediately understood each other's thoughts.
The two remained silent and cautiously made their way over.
With the cover of the grass and trees, the two could see a middle-aged man being threatened by several men in black with swords in an open space in front of them.
The person who was surrounded was already injured and at a disadvantage. If the situation was delayed any longer, he would probably die.
Zhao Yi thought for a moment, then lowered his voice and said to Jiang Bai, "I'm going out to rescue people. You find a place to hide."
Jiang Bai grasped his hand: "I'll go with you."
“You’re not feeling well right now, you don’t need to push yourself. Those people can’t stop me.” Zhao Yi refused her; he wouldn’t let her take any risks now.
After saying that, he bent down and crawled out.
The assassins had already suffered some losses, and when they saw an uninvited guest suddenly appear, they immediately looked at him with hostility.
Who are you?
Zhao Yi bent down, picked up a long sword from beside his feet, weighed it in his hand for a few moments, and then shouted, "I'm here to ruin your plans!"
As soon as he finished speaking, his sword moved with him, transforming into a blur as he charged into the crowd.
Seeing his imposing presence, those people dared not respond rashly and instead pointed most of their swords at him.
Those who had been surrounded by them breathed a sigh of relief and had a chance to glance at Zhao Yi, then were surprised by his skills.
He raised his head and praised, "Young man, impressive skills!"
Taking advantage of the surrounding terrain and his own considerable martial arts skills, Zhao Yi fought for a while and nearly defeated those people. In the end, the two of them scrambled away.
He didn't chase after them, and threw down the blood-stained longsword in his hand.
Upon seeing this, the man he had saved walked over in a few steps, expressing his gratitude: "Thank you so much for saving me, chivalrous man. If it weren't for you, I'm afraid I would have perished in these mountains."
Zhao Yi waved his hand: "You're welcome, it was nothing."
The man continued, "My surname is Xu. May I ask if you would mind revealing your name, sir? I will send someone to visit you in the future to express my gratitude for saving my life."
At this moment, Jiang Bai emerged from the grass and trees. Zhao Yi led her over and introduced them together: "My name is Zhao Yi, and this is my wife, Jiang Bai. We encountered a villain committing a crime while passing by, so it was not right to stand by and watch him die. We are already satisfied with Mr. Xu's words of thanks, and there is no need for anything else."
After he finished speaking, he was about to leave with Jiang Bai when he heard a commotion around them.
