Chapter 153 Man

The first person to enter was a man of about thirty years old. He had a dignified face and eyes that seemed to conceal a scimitar, which made Jiang Bai wary.

Behind him, a group of strangely dressed people filed in, and those around them held their breath in horror at their attire.

When Jiang Bai saw the face of the leader clearly, he couldn't hide the shock in his eyes.

The man looked remarkably like her; one could vaguely see the other's features in both of their faces, except that the man was slightly older than her.

"Who are you?" The man stopped in front of Jiang Bai and asked her coldly.

Jiang Bai looked at their clothing, which was similar to that of the woman in the Wu tribe's territory, so they must be Wu tribe people.

"I am a person who came from the Southern Dynasty in search of medicine. I would like to ask you for your help."

Although the man in front of her looked like her, she dared not let her guard down.

What exactly is her relationship with the witch clan?

Jiang Bai was now filled with a mystery.

The man frowned: "You two entered our poisonous miasma forest unharmed just now?"

As soon as the man finished speaking, a person appeared behind him. This was the same person who had just driven Jiang Bai and Zhao Yi away from the Wu Clan.

“It’s them, they crossed the poisonous miasma forest.” She pointed at the two of them, her tone firm.

Jiang Bai didn't hide anything and replied directly, "Yes, we just went in."

As soon as she finished speaking, the man raised his hand: "Take it down!"

The men who had been waiting behind him swarmed forward and surrounded Jiang Bai and Zhao Yi.

Upon seeing this, Zhao Yi immediately shielded Jiang Bai behind him and demanded sharply, "What do you mean by this?!"

The man glanced at him coldly and then attacked Zhao Yi directly.

The two exchanged blows for a few rounds before parting ways with expressionless faces.

"This person's martial arts skills are not weak." Zhao Yi returned to Jiang Bai's side and lowered his voice.

Jiang Bai could tell without him saying it.

This man's martial arts skills alone were enough to put the two of them on their guard, not to mention their elusive voodoo.

Jiang Bai immediately said, "Wait! We'll go with you."

Perfect timing! She also wanted to go to the Witch Clan to investigate the strangeness of her body. She couldn't even find her way there by herself. It would be perfect if someone could escort her.

The man glanced at her, but still gestured for the two men to step forward and restrain Jiang Bai.

Jiang Bai didn't struggle, but she realized that they only wanted to take her away.

Zhao Yi couldn't stand by and watch Jiang Bai be taken away in front of him. He pushed aside the people next to Jiang Bai and said, "Sir, although my wife agreed to go with you, she did not agree to let you take her away."

Jiang Bai grasped his hand: "I can go with you, but take him with me too."

The man narrowed his eyes, his chill intensifying: "Are you trying to negotiate with me?"

Jiang Bai remained unyielding, his eyes resolute: "Yes, if you don't let him come along, I would rather die than go back with you."

The man's eyes darkened, and without much thought, he agreed.

"Okay, take it with you."

The man stopped arguing with the two and stepped out of the house. His men glared at them angrily, and Jiang Bai could only follow him, holding Zhao Yi's hand.

The group left the town in a grand procession, heading towards the mountains.

The crowd that had been holding their breath just moments before now felt limp and weak, watching the departing group, their clothes soaked with sweat.

"The Witch Clan has emerged from the mountains! The Witch Clan members have emerged from the mountains! The world is about to descend into chaos! Utter chaos!"

Immediately, someone in the town started crying out, while the rest remained silent, their faces somber, lost in thought.

Jiang Bai and Zhao Yi were taken back to the territory of the Wu tribe. After entering the stone gate, they saw rows of houses with tiled roofs layered like clouds.

When the people inside saw strangers arrive, they all ran out of the house out of curiosity.

The clan guards responsible for escorting the two led them to an ordinary house and sternly warned, "Don't run around!"

After those people left, Zhao Yi took Jiang Bai's hand and asked, "Why did you agree to him so easily?"

“That person looks like me, so we probably have some connection. Besides, it’s strange that we can freely enter and leave that poisonous forest. I won’t feel at ease until I find out.”

Jiang Bai frowned. She felt that their arrival at the Witch Clan was as if guided by some kind of force, as if she had somehow come to this place to meet that strange man.

Zhao Yi knew that her mindset was difficult to change, so he simply stopped talking. He focused his attention on Jiang Bai's poison; now that he was inside, the poison should be neutralized.

Jiang Bai was unaware that he was currently preoccupied with the poison in her body; he was only focused on how to get closer to the man from earlier.

After locking them up, the man left them alone.

It wasn't until noon that someone brought the food.

The person who brought the food was a middle-aged woman. She carried the basket into the house and kept glancing at the two of them.

Jiang Bai looked at her expression, his eyes flashed, and he immediately stood up and took a few steps closer to her: "Auntie, how long do you plan to keep us locked up?"

The woman was startled and took a few steps back, saying, "Kid, don't get too close to me."

They firmly believed that outsiders would bring them misfortune, so they were both curious about and wary of outsiders.

Jiang Bai wore a standard warm smile, looking at his especially kind kin: "Auntie, don't be afraid, we won't hurt you, we just want to learn about your village."

Seeing that she posed no real threat, and considering her resemblance to the man, the woman lowered her guard somewhat: "Who are you? Why do you look so much like our king?"

Upon hearing this, Jiang Bai quickly exchanged a glance with Zhao Yi. The man from just now was actually the king of the Witch Clan!

She exchanged a few more polite words with the older woman and uttered some of her own words.

The man who resembled Jiang Bai was King Li Kejun of the Wu tribe. He had only left in a hurry because he heard from his tribesmen that someone who looked like him had passed through the poisonous miasma forest.

After finishing his meal, Jiang Bai planned to meet the king, King Li Kejun.

"Guards, I have something to discuss with your king."

Hearing the commotion, the person at the door pushed the door open and came in. After glancing at the two people, he closed the door again and sent someone to report.

After a while, the man returned with the message that Li Kejun had agreed to see her.

Jiang Bai then followed the man away. Zhao Yi wanted to follow, but was stopped by someone: "Our king only saw her alone, you stop."

Zhao Yi clenched his fist, and Jiang Bai quickly turned around: "You stay here, I'll be right back, don't worry."

After she finished speaking, the people urged her to leave quickly. She didn't delay any longer and hurried to catch up with the people in front of her.

The man led her to a rather luxurious palace; she hadn't expected to find such exquisite architecture deep in the mountains.

The palace is luxuriously decorated, a stark contrast to the ordinary, simple houses outside; it's hard to imagine that this is a house in the same place.
