It wasn't just her injuries that were too severe; she was nearly dead when she was first brought in. The nurse thought to herself, "But I heard that this young man was drugged, and that's why he became like that." Disdain flashed in her eyes. This kind of woman didn't deserve any sympathy.
Wen Hangxing nodded. In the next ward, Li Jiaran's face was wrapped tightly in gauze. Even when he heard the noise at the door, he remained lying stiffly in bed, as quiet as if he were not alive.
"Master Wen, it's right here." The nurse said to Wen Hangxing.
"You go out first." Wen Hangxing's cold voice concealed a turbulent mood.
The nurse glanced at him and the person on the bed with concern, and said, "I'm at the door. Call me if you need anything, Master Wen." Then she stepped back.
With a click, the door gently closed. Li Jiaran's hospital room wasn't as comfortable as Wen Hangxing's. The small room contained only an ordinary iron bed, its heavy curtains tightly drawn. The moment the door closed, it was like the light and shadows being severed, the brightness completely taken away, leaving the room in a thick darkness.
Wen Hangxing tapped the wheelchair armrests again and again, the rhythmic tapping sounds echoing slowly, and I wonder if it disturbed the person on the bed. "Did you know that the Li family came to look for her?"
The person on the bed didn't say anything, and Wen Hangxing didn't care. He continued to speak to himself: "Guess what they said? They hope to get rid of the Li family and let me do whatever I want with you."
As expected, he saw the person on the bed move. The ferocious voice sounded creepy in the silent ward, "You're lying! They won't do that!"
Wen Hangxing knew best how to break someone's heart. He had faced even seasoned business veterans, not to mention Li Jiaran, a vicious and spoiled fool. His voice was as steady as a breeze, yet the meaning within was incredibly sharp. "Really? Do you really think you're worth millions of dollars, Li's company? Do you really think your parents would risk offending the company's shareholders to protect you?"
Wen Hangxing continued nonchalantly, "I didn't take you seriously before, but I didn't expect you to be this naive. Who gave you the confidence to think I'd agree to anything you pestered me?"
Li Jiaran dug her nails into the palm of her hand, her eyes hidden behind the gauze bandage as if filled with poison. "Why? I've come this far, given up all my dignity for you, and yet you still act so high and mighty!"
Wen Hangxing's expression didn't change at all. "This is just your wishful thinking. I didn't ask you to do this. Besides, I've rejected you many times, but you've always been unmoved. So why should I care about you being in this situation now?"
Li Jiaran was hurt by his nonchalant attitude. She felt as if her whole body was broken into pieces, and there seemed to be a big hole in her heart, which was slowly oozing blood.
It seemed that Wen Hangxing came this time just to inform her that the Li family had decided to give up on her. He planned to leave after staying for less than ten minutes.
Just as he was about to leave, Li Jiaran suddenly asked, "Have you ever had a crush on me in these years?"
Wen Hangxing replied mercilessly: "No." Then he left the ward.
There was a crackling sound behind him, indicating that the people inside were not at peace at the moment. Li Jiaran shouted hysterically: "Wen Hangxing, you are such a cold-blooded and heartless lunatic. I hope you will never be loved!"
Hearing this, the nurse subconsciously lowered her head to glance at the young man who was as straight as a scallion, but found that he was as calm as a bottomless ancient well, and turned a blind eye to the farce behind him.
Wen Hangxing thought of someone and smiled softly: How could he not get love? He seemed to have already felt that so-called love.
