There was a hurried knock on Lin Yitang's door. She opened the door, but before she could ask, the maid said to her anxiously: "Madam, the young master fell down the stairs. Please go and take a look."
Lin Yitang was startled and quickly followed the maid downstairs. Downstairs, Wen Hangxing was lying on the sofa, and Dr. Gu and a group of assistants were examining Wen Hangxing.
Lin Yitang didn't bother them. Instead, he stood a short distance away, silently watching Wen Hangxing. The child seemed troubled by something. Even after fainting, his brows were still furrowed, as if filled with deep resentment. His face was a pale, bloodless gray, and his lips were purple. Lying on the bed, he looked like a withering tree, its color extinguished by the wind and rain before it could even begin to flourish.
Lin Yitang sighed, and a sour feeling arose at the tip of her nose, as if tears were about to burst out in the next second.
After the examination, Lin Yitang stepped forward and asked, "Doctor Gu, how is Wen Hangxing?"
"Master Wen isn't seriously injured. He just has some blood clots in his brain from the fall. I'll prescribe some medicine for him. He'll be fine after taking it for a while."
Lin Yitang felt relieved after hearing this, "Okay, thank you, Doctor Gu."
Doctor Gu quickly waved his hand and said, "Mrs. Wen, you're too kind. This is what we should do."
Seeing that he seemed to have something to say, Lin Yitang took the initiative to say, "Doctor Gu, just say it directly. There is no need to worry."
Doctor Gu said, "I wonder if Madam Wen understands the reason for Young Master Wen's fall. From the test I just performed, Young Master Wen's heart rate is significantly higher than normal. Considering his past medical history, I think he may have had a relapse while walking down the stairs."
"Previous medical history?" Lin Yitang was stunned. She chewed on these words carefully. The meaning implied in them made her heart sink.
Lin Yitang asked: "What disease does he have? Can Dr. Gu tell me?"
Doctor Gu then realized that this lady had just married into the Wen family, so she might not be aware of this matter. He thought that he had been to the Wen family many times in the past few days, but he really couldn't tell that the two were stepmother and son. Instead, he felt that they were as close as biological mother and son.
Doctor Gu smiled and said, "Of course I'm happy to serve Madam Wen, but since I'm not a psychiatrist, I recommended my senior brother to treat Young Master Wen. Therefore, I only have a general idea of Young Master Wen's condition and don't fully understand it. How about I give you my senior brother's contact information and you contact him?"
"Okay, thank you for your help." Lin Yitang nodded, forced a smile, and took the business card handed to him by Doctor Gu.
Lin Yitang's mind was swirling with thoughts. What had happened today?! All the bad things had happened today.
She looked up and saw Wen Zeli looking down from the second-floor railing. He was looking at her, and when he noticed Lin Yitang was looking at him, he smiled gently at her, pretending to be a modest gentleman and gentle as jade. Lin Yitang looked away and cursed inwardly, "Psycho."
Little did he know that when Wen Zeli saw her avoiding him like a snake, his smile became even wider, and a flash of aggression flashed across his eyes, like a poisonous snake looking at its prey that was left struggling. It was very novel, and full of amusement and interest.
The person on the sofa groaned and seemed to be about to wake up. Lin Yitang hurried over to him to check on him.
Wen Hangxing opened his eyes and saw Lin Yitang's worried expression. Before he could even sit up, he heard her urgently ask, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Wen Hangxing shook his head silently, watching Lin Yitang lean over and touch his head gently. "That's good. I'll have someone carry you back to your room later so you can have a good rest."
Wen Hangxing stared at Lin Yitang without blinking. He didn't push her away in anger like he did in the past, nor did he resist shyly. He was silent like a sculpture.
Lin Yitang was preoccupied with her own affairs and did not notice Wen Hangxing's unusual behavior. Seeing that it was still early, she planned to go and meet the attending physician of Wen Hangxing that Dr. Gu mentioned.
Lin Yitang stood up and prepared to leave. Wen Hangxing's pupils shrank and he quickly grabbed the corner of her clothes, holding it tightly, unwilling to let go even a little bit.
"Huh? What's wrong?" Lin Yitang felt a force stopping her from moving, and she turned around and asked questioningly.
Wen Hangxing's voice was dry, as if his throat had lost too much water. "Don't go, don't leave me."
Lin Yitang looked at Wen Hangxing's wet eyes like a puppy, with a pleading look in his eyes that he had never had before. He sat down softly, touched his forehead with his hand and asked, "Did you have a nightmare?"
Wen Hangxing's eyes were as dark as ink. He lowered his eyelids and admitted, "Yes, I had an extremely terrifying dream."
"What did you dream about?" Lin Yitang stroked his hair again and again, her voice as gentle and warm as the breeze on the beam.
"I dreamed... that everyone had left me, and I was the only one left in the world, wandering over and over again in the places we had been to."
Lin Yitang's heart skipped a beat when she heard this. She carefully observed Wen Hangxing's expression and breathed a sigh of relief when she found nothing unusual. She had just thought that Wen Hangxing had heard the conversation between him and Wen Zeli. Reassured, Lin Yitang comforted him, "Dreams are the opposite. We are all here!"
Wen Hangxing stared at her with his dark eyes and asked unexpectedly: "Will you always be by my side?"
Lin Yitang's smile seemed to pause for a moment, and then he heard Wen Hangxing ask again: "Will you always be by my side? Always."
She looked at the person in front of her with a serious yet cautious expression. Her memory was confused. The young man in front of her, who was extremely immature but vaguely had a handsome face in the future, seemed to overlap with the nervous face of the child back then. They asked: "Will you stay with me?" She had to find an answer.
Lin Yitang was determined in her heart. She looked at Wen Hangxing and replied, "I will. As long as you need me, I will be by your side."
Wen Hangxing looked at her warily, seemingly not believing her words, "Don't lie to me!"
Lin Yitang smiled and promised solemnly: "I won't lie to you, don't worry."
After receiving her affirmative answer, Wen Hangxing smiled with satisfaction.
"Okay, little brat. I've already promised you can put my clothes away now, right?"
Wen Hangxing didn't move and asked her, "What are you going to do?"
Lin Yitang: "I'm going out for a while and will be back soon."
"Where are you going?"
Lin Yitang looked at him seriously, gave him a slap, and said with a grin, "You're still controlling me. I won't tell you, let go!"
"Oh." Wen Hangxing let go of the corner of her clothes with a wronged look.
"Let's go." Lin Yitong waved at him and walked out the door.
Wen Hangxing kept his gaze on her, his eyes lifeless, as if the only light was Lin Yitang. He thought, don't lie to me.
