Lin Yitang still couldn't let go of her worries. She opened the door and stared at the scene inside in a daze.
The room was dark, with only a small round lamp on the floor near the sofa emitting a pale yellow light.
Wen Hangxing curled up on the narrow sofa in an extremely insecure posture, his hands tightly clutching Lin Yitong's clothes, his thick brows furrowed, as if he had something on his mind even in his dream.
Tears welled up in Lin Yitang's eyes and flowed down her cheeks, with bitterness appearing on her lips. She tiptoed towards Wen Hangxing, stretched out her hand and gently placed it on Wen Hangxing's face, wiping away his frown.
Wen Hangxing opened his eyes warily and saw Lin Yitang. He put away the defensiveness and fierceness in his eyes. Noticing the wetness on Lin Yitang's face, he quickly sat up and asked in a hoarse voice: "Who bullied you? Why are you crying?"
Lin Yitang hugged him tightly, and Wen Hangxing did not struggle. He only heard Lin Yitang's firm tone, "I don't want to leave. You will start rehabilitation tomorrow."
Wen Hangxing opened his mouth, but was interrupted by Lin Yitang: "Refutation is useless. I have the final say on this matter. I'm with you."
Wen Hangxing lowered his thick eyelashes, as if giving up resistance, "Okay."
Wen Zeli watched the scene quietly by the door, picked up his phone and sent a message to the housekeeper saying he had found Wen Hangxing. Then he strode over to the two of them and said to Wen Hangxing, "I'll make arrangements tomorrow. Now go back and get some rest."
Wen Hangxing's heart trembled, and he noticed the unusual meaning in Wen Zeli's words, so he looked up at him.
Wen Hangxing actually looked a lot like Wen Zeli, even down to his features. However, Wen Zeli was like a finely polished unpolished jade, his aura pure and refined, yet underneath he possessed a subtle, intimidating, cold, and domineering edge. Wen Hangxing, on the other hand, was like a freshly forged sword, imposing and unyielding.
At this time, people who looked similar looked at each other, and the atmosphere was rare and peaceful.
Wen Hangxing lay on the bed, looking at the two people beside him speechlessly. "I say, is it really okay for you to be in a room with young boys like this? Don't I have any privacy?"
Seeing that he had returned to his usual smooth-talking self, Lin Yitang felt relieved. "Aren't you worried that Master Wen won't be able to sleep because of another thunderstorm tonight? I'll wait until you fall asleep before leaving."
All right. Wen Hangxing suppressed the smile on his face, looked at the man beside him, and said bluntly: "Why don't you leave? Don't tell me you're afraid I can't sleep."
Wen Zeli didn't care when he heard his provocative words, "I can't stay alone in an empty room."
Damn it! Wen Hangxing had no reason to refute his words. He ignored the slight disappointment in his heart and snorted, "Then you just wait."
The housekeeper knocked on the door and said, "Madam, the soothing soup you ordered is ready."
Lin Yitang smiled as he took the porcelain bowl from the housekeeper and brought it to Wen Hangxing, urging him, "Drink it quickly. It will make you sleepy."
Wen Hangxing looked at the dark liquid in the bowl and smelled the odor of rotting bark in the air. He managed a shaky smile, his expression evident. "Can I not drink it?"
"What do you think?" Lin Yitong stared at him with her beautiful eyes, her words were full of meaning.
"Okay." Wen Hangxing took the porcelain bowl, closed his eyes, and drank it in one gulp. The bitter and slightly fishy taste exploded on his tongue. He muttered, "Ms. Lin, where did you find this recipe? It's really bitter."
Lin Yitang sighed helplessly and stuffed the thing in his hand into Wen Hangxing's mouth, "I knew it."
Wen Hangxing ate it without any defense. The sweet and sour taste of the strawberry diluted the bitterness and even seemed to move towards his heart. Wen Hangxing felt sweet in his heart, but pretended to be indifferent on the surface. "Don't treat me like a child."
Lin Yitang rubbed his hair, which looked hard but was actually soft, and said, "You are just a child, why are you pretending to be an adult?"
Wen Hangxing pinched his fingers and lowered his head in embarrassment.
"Oh, I also prepared earplugs and an eye mask for you. Oh, by the way," Lin Yitang seemed to have just remembered. She hurried out the door and soon returned with a 1.6-meter-tall stuffed bear. "This is the gift I bought for you when I went out the other day, but I forgot to give it to you. Just hold it when you're scared."
Wen Hangxing's attention was completely attracted by Lin Yitong with her curved eyebrows and eyes. The light shone on her hair and shoulders, creating a divinity that was so warm and dazzling.
"Hurry up and continue!" Lin Yitang urged.
Wen Hangxing hugged the big bear and his heart suddenly softened.
"Okay, I'm going to bed too." Lin Yitang yawned and waved at Wen Hangxing.
Wen Zeli was a step behind her and stopped suddenly when he reached the door. "Have a good rest."
This sound was like a thunder drum that suddenly hit Wen Hangxing's heart, almost making him think he was hallucinating, but Wen Zeli was indeed standing at the door.
"Oh." Wen Hangxing answered stiffly.
It was rare for two people who were always at loggerheads to have such a heartwarming scene. They both didn't know how to react, but Wen Zeli was an old fox after all. He quickly adjusted his expression and walked out.
Wen Hangxing sat alone on the bed, his hands unconsciously stroking the big bear, and after a while, he buried his face in the bear's body.
When Wen Zeli entered the bedroom, he found that Lin Yitong had not yet taken a shower and seemed to be waiting for him.
"What's wrong?"
Lin Yitang's expression was serious. "I think we need to have a good talk about Wen Hangxing."
And fearing that Wen Zeli wouldn't care, he added two words at the end, which was unusual for him, "Hanchuan."
Wen Zeli paused after putting his watch down and stood up. "What are you talking about?"
"I think your attitude towards Wen Hangxing is not right. You need to change it."
It has to be said that Lin Yitong is indeed insensitive to power. With Wen Zeli's current status, few people ask him to change. Those who want something from him will not use this serious and straightforward attitude, but will instead be fawning and ingratiating.
But there was nothing he could do. The person standing in front of him was Lin Yitong, and Wen Zeli happened to have much more patience with her than with others, so he didn't care. Instead, he felt that her worried look made him feel a little itchy.
"Okay, I'd like to hear more about it, Mrs. Wen." Wen Zeli looked at her leisurely, waiting for her next words.
Lin Yitang didn't expect him to be so straightforward, but he still reacted and said, "I learned about Wen Hangxing's condition a few days ago. He lacks a sense of security, so starting today, the two of us will create a healthy and happy living environment for him."
Wen Zeli nodded his chin slightly, indicating that she should continue.
"I won't say much about the relationship between you and Wen Hangxing. From now on, you have to take on the responsibilities of a father... with me."
