We stayed in the village for three days, and along the way, went into the mountains with the villagers. We saw no wild animals, not even a single wolf. For the next few days, we sorted out everything in the village and asked Comrade Yang to look after the yard. We handed him the keys and the car, then bought tickets and continued on to our next stop.
The next stop was Province Y, where the weather was hot and the ultraviolet rays were strong. The group traveled light and did not take the existing quilts and mattresses, only taking a change of clothes.
When they got on the train, they bought sleeper berths, this time a six-person berth; Zhong Yuxiu, Yan Rushan, Wang Daya, Gong Zhaodi, the old man, and Gu Lingguo shared one room. The three children followed Zhong Yuxiu and the others, while Feng Zheng and Fang Guozhong still went to the next carriage.
"Grandpa, please sit down and rest for a while. Are you tired?" Zhong Yuxiu looked at the old man with concern.
Yan Rushan, who was packing his luggage, turned his head and saw that the old man looked a little tired. He asked, "Grandpa, please lie down for a while. I will leave the etiquette book to Comrade Wang and Comrade Gong."
"No need, our child is well behaved. I'll hold him and let him sleep for a while." The old man held the eldest son Li Ji in his arms and was reluctant to let go even after getting on the train. "Don't worry about me, just go and do your own things."
Yan Rushan nodded. "Okay, you can coax the child to sleep for a while. Yuxiu, you should lie down for a while too. You got up early this morning, so rest up."
"Okay." Zhong Yuxiu climbed onto the upper bunk by the window and said to Wang Daya, "Comrade Wang, give Lizhen to me. He's a bit naughty. I'll coax him to sleep. You just keep an eye on Grandpa and the two kids."
"Okay." Wang Daya was also worried that she wouldn't be able to take care of them all. When they were away from home, they not only had to take care of three children; the old man was also their main focus of care. He was old, and even if he was in good health after being taken care of, they couldn't just ignore him.
The child was handed to Zhong Yuxiu, and Wang Daya said to the old man, "Mr. Yan, how about giving the child to me? I'll hold Li Ji."
Yan Guofeng looked at Zhong Yuxiu and Li Zhen above, and finally gave the child to Wang Daya; his eldest grandson's wife had already held a child to make things easier for him, and it would be ungrateful if he didn't agree to let Comrade Wang take care of the child.
He was indeed tired, having gotten up so early in the morning to catch the train; he was already lacking in energy, and carrying the child made him even more tired.
After handing the child over to Wang Daya, Yan Guofeng quickly fell asleep on the small bed, sleeping very soundly. The train's departure did not wake him up, nor did he hear any noise outside the carriage.
Zhong Yuxiu coaxed her son to sleep, and he woke up feeling refreshed; the difference between getting enough sleep and not getting enough sleep is huge, so Yan Rushan handed her a glass of warm water.
"It's warm, drink some water."
"Thank you." Zhong Yuxiu took a sip and smiled back, "You haven't slept yet?"
Yan Rushan shook his head. "I slept for a while. I don't sleep much. Are you hungry? I'll ask Comrade Wang to get some food. We won't go out to eat today."
"I'm a little hungry." He looked up at the old man's bed, who was still asleep. "Grandpa, haven't you woken up yet?"
"No, I guess I was tired and fell into a deep sleep."
Zhong Yuxiu nodded slightly. "Then let Grandpa sleep. If an old man can't sleep, his energy and spirit will be worn down day by day. Let's keep our voices down and serve Grandpa a portion when we get his meal. It's almost dark outside, and Grandpa should wake up by then."
"Okay." Yan Rushan nodded in agreement and turned to take the son from Wang Daya's arms. "Comrade Wang, go and get some food. Also tell Comrade Feng Zheng and Comrade Fang to go to the train cafeteria to eat."
Wang Daya nodded repeatedly in agreement, took out a few lunch boxes from her bag, said something to Gong Zhaodi, and went out.
Passing by the next carriage, Wang Daya knocked on the door. It was Fang Guozhong who opened it. Seeing the person coming, he breathed a sigh of relief and asked, "Comrade Wang, are you going to eat?"
"Yes, Comrade Yan and the others are in the carriage and it's inconvenient for them to come out, so I'll go get them some food. By the way, I'll invite you to come eat with me."
Fang Guozhong nodded repeatedly, "Wait a moment, I'll talk to Feng Zheng."
"Yeah." Wang Daya took a step back and waited at the corridor.
Fang Guozhong turned around and said to Feng Zheng, "Dasha, I'm going to get some food. You watch over the luggage. No matter who talks to you, don't respond. Got it?"
"Oh, I see." Feng Zheng rubbed his stomach. He must be hungry, so his hands and feet were faster than usual. He quickly took out two lunch boxes from his luggage and handed them to Fang Guozhong. "I want to eat meat."
"Okay, I'll give you more meat." Fang Guozhong nodded in response, carrying the lunch box out of the carriage; he winked at Wang Daya, and the two walked side by side to the restaurant on the train.
There were not many people in the restaurant, a few of them were flight attendants, and some were elites in appropriate attire. Perhaps a group of people had eaten there before, or perhaps there were only so few people there. Wang Daya and Fang Guozhong were not the type to think too much. They packed their meals in lunch boxes together, paid, and left with the lunch boxes.
The food in the truck was not bad, but not very delicious either; both of them got the portions just right. One of them had been cooking for decades, and the other knew his comrades very well and knew each other's tastes, so naturally he got the food just right.
Outside the carriage, Wang Daya thanked Fang Guozhong while holding the lunch box, and then they went into their respective carriages.
"Comrade Zhong, Comrade Yan, the food is here." Wang Daya spoke in a low voice, fearing that she would disturb the sleeping old man.
Unexpectedly, the old man moved and opened his eyes; the whole family looked at him.
"Grandpa, you're awake. Did you sleep well?" Zhong Yuxiu spoke first, and Yan Rushan followed up with, "You slept a little too long today. Are you feeling unwell?"
Yan Guofeng glanced at them and shook his head. "I'm fine, don't worry. What about the children? Are they awake?"
"The eldest is awake, the second and third are still sleeping." The third was on the upper bunk, and the second was sleeping on the lower bunk with Gong Zhaodi.
"Why did you wake up so early?" The three brothers always slept at about the same pace, falling asleep and waking up at the same time; the eldest brother suddenly woke up early, which made the old man think more.
Zhong Yuxiu shook her head. "It's nothing. It's probably because the train was too noisy and he didn't sleep well."
"Is that so?" The old man sat up and said, "Put his ears shut tonight and I'll take him to bed."
"It's better not to do that. You are old, and it would be terrible if you couldn't sleep. I will take care of the eldest child at night, and the second and third children will follow Comrade Wang and Comrade Gong. You can sleep peacefully, as we will stay on the train for two days." The environment was not good, so we had to create feasible conditions. The first problem was the old man's sleep.
Don’t drink the repair fluid. Once you are healthy, you will stop cherishing it.
The effect of the newly launched repair fluid becomes weaker each time you drink it; it can indeed strengthen the body, but it cannot survive if the owner of the body does not cherish it.
"Okay, you guys make the arrangements. I'll sleep a little longer." The old man no longer liked the request to take care of the children. He just took the eldest child and said, "Let me hold him for a while. You guys can take him to sleep later."
Before Gong Zhaodi could give the child to the old man, Wang Daya put the lunch box on the table and said, "Eat first, and we'll talk after you eat."
