Chapter 127 Can't Find

It was the first time that the conductor had seen a woman with such clear logic and organization, so he asked her to stay in the office and not move. The train manager arranged for the managers of each carriage to conduct a carpet search, but to their disappointment, after checking the entire freight car from beginning to end, they did not find the child described by the young woman.

Song Zhi frowned when he heard the news, thinking that it was impossible! The train had not stopped at all since he went to bed, and the young woman had woken up in the middle of the night to find that the child was missing, so it was certain that the child must still be on the train.

Song Zhi recalled watching TV reports of similar incidents in the past and wondering how the criminals handled these things.

"Is it possible that they drugged the child? Or changed his clothes? Dressed the boy as a girl?"

Song Zhi's three consecutive questions made everyone present look cautious and began to think seriously.

Soon the train manager spoke up, "Any child who matches the age described by the missing child's family should be brought in to identify them. Pay special attention to the appearance and expression of the person holding the child."

Soon the train conductor conducted a second search. Many people were already dissatisfied because they had to go through so much trouble in the middle of the night, and their attitude became much worse when the train conductor asked to check for the second time.

But most people are still quite understanding. After all, their children are missing, so they are still willing to cooperate with the work.

I arrived at an old lady who was holding a little girl. She was wearing a bright red cotton-padded jacket. It didn't look old, but it wasn't new either. It didn't match the little leather shoes on her feet at all.

"Old lady, please cooperate with us." The conductor walked up to her and said in a gentle voice.

The old lady acted as if she didn't hear anything and closed her eyes pretending to be asleep.

The two inspecting train attendants looked at each other and realized something was wrong. They walked closer to the old lady, bent down and whispered, "Old lady, please let us see your granddaughter."

Another conductor ran to call the family members over.

"What are you yelling about? The child finally fell asleep. If you wake up my granddaughter, I will never forgive you. Didn't we just look for her once? Why are you still looking? You are just wasting time. We are waiting to have a good rest and set off tomorrow!" The old lady looked very unhappy and a little angry.

The conductor tried to be as humble as possible, repeatedly apologizing, but he was still very insistent. "Ma'am, we just want to let the family of the missing child see your granddaughter. It will be quick and won't delay anything. Let's finish the investigation as soon as possible so that everyone can rest."

"You don't understand what I'm saying. I told you my granddaughter is sleeping. Don't stand in front of me." Then the old lady continued to close her eyes and pretend to be asleep.

Someone nearby couldn't stand it any longer. The child had been lost around the same time she had found him, so she asked curiously, "Where's your son? Didn't your son just bring your granddaughter here?"

This caught the attention of the conductor, who asked the speaker with a serious expression, "Did her son give the child to her? Did the old lady hold the child when she first got on the train?"

This made the old lady angry. "Don't talk nonsense. You have to be responsible for what you say. This is my granddaughter. My son was with her when she first got on the bus. Now she needs to rest, can't I take care of her?"

This was clearly a response to the conductor's words, while also warning the person speaking not to meddle in other people's business.
