Chapter 162 Who is the cat?

Lu Yanli's gaze swept over Berlans, and he easily found a gun in his clothes. Without any mercy, he pressed the muzzle against Berlans's forehead, a wanton and cold smile curling at the corner of his mouth.

"Count Berlans, is this unexpected gift to your liking?"

Berlans stared at Lu Yanli in astonishment, his gaze involuntarily drifting to the incense burning on the table. His voice was filled with disbelief: "How do you still have strength?! This incense isn't working for you?!"

Lu Yanli raised an eyebrow, walked over, threw the incense on the ground, and stomped it out. His words were full of disdain: "This lousy incense is not even a fraction as good as my sister's. You think you can poison me?"

Lu Yanli was very pleased with himself for successfully putting on a show.

Fortunately, his sister secretly gave him a drug to make him immune to the sleeping potion when he first saw Berlans; otherwise, he would have had to put in a lot of effort since Berlans had a gun.

Berlans's body trembled almost imperceptibly, but he remained calm.

"Li, the outside is full of my men now, and although this place is still the filming location, it won't be easy to find. Do you think you can escape?"

Upon hearing this, Lu Yanli simply smiled faintly. Beneath his calm exterior lay a sharp edge. He spoke slowly, "Berlans, you're mistaken. I followed you here not to escape, but to... cripple you."

He casually dragged over a carved wooden chair, sat down steadily opposite Berlans, crossed his legs at will, and looked at Berlans with great interest, his tone harsh and sarcastic: "The drug is about to take effect, isn't it? Enjoy it, Earl."

Lu Yanli gently raised the gun in his hand. "Don't worry, if you can't take it, I'd be happy to fire a few shots to ease your pain."

Berlans's face turned pale instantly, and a hint of panic flashed in his eyes. "Aren't you afraid I'll call my bodyguards in?"

Lu Yanli rubbed his temples, feigning trouble, as if he were genuinely stumped. "The Earl has given me a hint."

He gracefully pulled the tablecloth off the table, stood up, walked over, and forcefully silenced Berlans's mouth before sitting back down with satisfaction.

"Now you can't call for help."

Berlans stared wide-eyed, shaking his head vigorously, only able to make "uh uh uh" sounds.

Lu Yanli casually rested his elbows on the armrests of the chair, his two slender fingers gently touching his forehead, a smile playing on his lips: "Berlans, let me teach you a famous Chinese saying: villains die from talking too much."

"So now it's my turn to ask you, are you... ready?"
