In a small fishing village outside the city, everyone makes a living by fishing.
Ling Ran said that this was the accommodation that Ye Lisheng had arranged for the people of Wuyou Valley.
Looking at the smiles on those people's faces, I seemed to see the tenderness behind this seemingly indifferent man's cold facade.
The leader of the group had clearly adapted to life here. Carrying the fish he had just caught, he approached us with a hearty laugh and said, "What brings Your Highness here? This is perfect; we should properly thank you with these snacks and drinks."
"I ask you, is there anyone here named Mo Niang?"
"Mo Niang?"
He thought for a moment, looking troubled, and said, "There are about a hundred people here, and I can't remember all their surnames!"
"Ling Ran, take some men and go find them!"
"Yes, sir!"
The stream was so clear you could see the fish swimming in it.
He searched the entire place but couldn't find even a trace of Mo Niang.
I'd never seen him with such a furrowed brow and anxious expression before.
At that moment, all I could say to comfort you was, "Don't worry, we'll find it!"
"This is the first time I've felt so close to my mother, yet now I feel so far away!"
You could sense a slight tremor in his voice; he was suppressing his emotions.
"How can you be so sure she is your mother? There are countless people in the world with the same surname."
Perhaps struck by my words, he paused for a moment.
He then gave a somewhat forlorn laugh: "Yes! Was I too foolish?"
Seeing that I remained silent for a while, they turned their heads and saw me standing in the water, holding two fish in my hands.
I proudly declared, "I'm awesome, aren't I! We're having fish tonight!"
I could feel the displeasure in his eyes as he glanced at my bare feet.
"Get on, and put your shoes on!"
"No! This is really fun, do you want to try it?"
He glared at me fiercely: "If you don't come up, I'm leaving!"
"Hmph! You can leave now!"
He turned and left without any hesitation, and I was feeling lost.
Something enormous flew across the sky, followed by a splash and water spraying everywhere.
Ye Lisheng jumped into the water, startling the fish in my hand so much that it flew away, and I fell backward.
Luckily, he reacted quickly and caught me by grabbing my waist.
"I won't allow you to be sad. How about it, are you happy now!"
These words sounded somewhat awkward coming from his cold mouth.
I burst out laughing. Only he could come up with such an awkward, childlike way of coaxing people.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and said sincerely, "Thank you!"
Not far away, Mo Niang looked at Ye Lisheng with tears in her eyes and said with a look of relief, "Ye'er has grown up!"
As if sensing something, he turned around but found nothing.
The stream water was a bit chilly in the autumn; although the sun was high in the sky, it was still quite cold.
I stuffed my feet, which were frozen red like pig's trotters, into Ye Lisheng's wide sleeves. Instead of pushing them away, he rubbed his palms together to warm my feet.
I smiled shyly, my heart filled with a sweet feeling, as if a jar of honey had been spilled.
"I have never seen a woman like you before!"
"What kind of woman am I?" I was suddenly very curious about what he thought of me.
"It's better if you don't know, so you won't be sad!"
"Oh! Tell me! Okay?"
After much pleading and cajoling, he finally gave in.
"She acts rashly, speaks incoherently, and is incapable of any crafts or needlework; she has none of the demeanor of a well-bred lady!"
I pouted in dissatisfaction: "So what if it's completely useless!"
"That's not entirely true either!"
When he opened his mouth, I thought he was going to say something, and my eyes lit up with anticipation, hoping he would point out some of his good qualities.
"You eat more than others!"
A single, unexpected remark made me so angry I was speechless.
I shifted my position, trying to sit as far away from him as possible.
"I have many flaws and I don't think I'm good enough for Your Highness. You should find someone else!"
He moved closer to me subtly, and a kiss passed by like a dragonfly skimming the water, yet I could still feel it.
"you……"
My face was as red as a boiled lobster.
With deep affection in his eyes, he said in his magnetic voice, "Those flaws shine like stars in my heart, constantly drawing my attention!"
My heart felt as if it were being pulled by an invisible thread, completely captivated and unable to extricate itself. I thought to myself, "How can there be such a handsome man in the world?"
Suddenly, a strange movement on the eaves disrupted the current situation.
"W-what's wrong?" I asked nervously, my eyes wide as saucers.
With a loud "bang," a large hole appeared in the roof tiles, and a gleaming silver knife was pointed directly at Ye Lisheng.
In the blink of an eye, Ye Lisheng grabbed me by the collar and lifted me away like a chick.
Those men in black were all masked, their eyes gleaming with menacing light.
Looking at Ye Lisheng's somewhat pale face, I asked worriedly, "Are you alright?"
He said confidently to me, "Don't worry, these people can't hurt me!"
Just then, Ling Ran arrived and, seeing the situation, shielded Ye Lisheng behind him.
"Your Highness, please stay in a safe place with the young lady. Leave these matters to me!"
Swords and blades flew, and tables and chairs were hacked to pieces.
They fought from inside the house to outside, the battle was incredibly fierce.
A worried figure in the distance was constantly concerned for Ye Lisheng.
Although he hasn't fully recovered, he's no slouch when it comes to fighting.
A powerful gust of wind swept through, and all the men in black fell to the ground. I couldn't help but clap and cheer for him.
