Chapter 19 The entertainment industry is a murky place; if things seem too smooth, there's definitely something fishy going on!

"What's going on?"

This kid was a top-tier movie star in his past life, and now he's debuting as a child star so early in this life?

Xiaoqi giggled: "The trainer's short video went viral, and lots and lots of people gave Xiaowu's brother a thumbs up."

Han Chengwu blushed and said, "It's not a lot, just 100,000."

Han Chengshan leaned closer, shocked: "One hundred thousand? There really are that many likes?"

Han Chengwu puffed out his chest and tried to remain humble: "Others have millions of likes, my likes are nothing. The teacher said they can only be considered minor popularity, not major popularity."

"But someone has already approached Brother Xiao Wu to film a TV show!" Xiao Qi tilted her head, looking puzzled. "Isn't this going to make him a big star?"

"No, it's just playing a child. The talent scout said I only have five lines, so I guess it's a special invitation."

"I don't understand." Xiao Qi shook her head. "Anyway, I'll be able to see Fifth Brother on TV from now on, hee hee hee..."

The little girl chuckled to herself, already planning how to brag about her fifth brother to her friends.

Han Fei frowned, finally managing to piece together the meaning from the few words he had uttered.

Xiao Wu's current extracurricular class teacher's hobby is making short videos. He filmed a skit that Xiao Wu performed, which became a minor hit and led to him being discovered by a talent scout.

A talent scout found the tutor of the extracurricular class and invited Xiao Wu to participate in the filming of a TV series, playing a child in it.

The talent scout promised that if Xiao Wu performed well, he would discuss signing him with the company and offer him a generous contract.

Everything sounds too good to be true.

The entertainment industry is a murky place; if things seem too smooth, there's definitely something fishy going on!

"Why are you looking so stern? Are you unhappy?" Han Chengwu asked cautiously. "You don't allow me to film TV dramas?"

The talent scout had already told him privately that if he wanted to debut as a child star, he would have to get his parents' permission.

"You really want to film this?"

"I can make money, so I want to make those films."

"Do you know exactly what TV series it is and what role you will play?"

Han Chengwu shook his head honestly: "I'm not very clear. I only know that I play a child and have five lines."

"What exactly did that person say to you?"

"He said he saw my skit performance and thought I was very talented. There happened to be a TV series that was looking for someone to play a child role, and he thought I could do it, so he recommended me to the director! If I can do it well, I will be an experienced child star, and then he can talk to the company about signing me!"

"You remember it quite clearly."

"After all, it's something that can make money, so I've remembered it very carefully!" Han Chengwu chuckled foolishly.

Looking at his naive and innocent appearance, I finally understand how the movie star in the book was tricked into signing a contract of servitude when he was a child.

Although he went through the grueling world of entertainment and later became a villain, a cunning and treacherous man who would use any means to climb the ladder, before entering the entertainment industry, he was a simple-minded boy who would help push an old lady's wheelchair on the street and was almost kidnapped.

"He knew you were just a five-year-old child and might not be able to communicate clearly or remember things, so why didn't he just ask me instead of making you do it?"

Han Chengwu was stumped by the question.

"Let him come to me personally about this matter."

"But he said he was very busy..."

"If he's busy, then call or video chat is fine; you don't necessarily have to meet in person."

"Then I'll talk to him tomorrow."

Han Fei laughed: "How are you going to tell him tomorrow?"

He said he would come to see me tomorrow and ask for my reply.

"He said he was too busy to see me, but he can make time to see you tomorrow. Xiao Wu, think about it carefully, isn't that contradictory?"

Han Chengwu scratched his head, then belatedly asked, "Why can't he see you tomorrow?"

Han Chengshan slapped Han Chengwu on the forehead: "You silly boy, he's trying to trick you into leaving tomorrow!"

"ah?"

Han Fei looked at the third brother with approval in his eyes: "Young man Shan, have a good talk with him."

"Yes, sir!"

Han Chengshan looked at his silly younger brother: "There's a reason you almost got kidnapped. You're really stupid! You need to be more careful, or you'll get tricked again!"

"Is he a swindler?" Having been tricked by the old woman before, Han Chengwu was terrified. "What should I do? Will he kidnap me and sell me tomorrow?"

What time is he coming tomorrow?

"He said he would come to my extracurricular class at 1 p.m. If I agreed to take the photos and my parents didn't object, he would take me to take the photos. If my parents didn't agree, then we would just have to forget about it."

"Here's the important part! 1 PM! Don't you and Xiaoqi's class start at 1:30 PM?"

"He asked me to arrive half an hour early because he was very busy and only available at 1 p.m."

Is the teacher here at 1 o'clock?

"The teacher shouldn't be here..."

Han Chengwu realized what was happening and his eyes widened in horror: "Because the teacher was here today, he didn't take me away directly! His goal is to make me arrive early tomorrow so he can grab me while the teacher isn't here!"

"That's about right!" Han Chengshan chuckled to himself.

Han Fei pushed the unreliable brat away: "Don't scare him."

Tears welled up in Han Chengwu's eyes as he looked pitifully at Han Fei: "I almost got kidnapped again?"

"Your third brother deliberately scared you. If he wanted to kidnap you, he wouldn't have appeared in front of your teacher today. He could have just come looking for you when you were alone in the bathroom."

"So, is he a good person or a bad person?"

"He's probably a talent scout, I'm not lying to you. He does want to sign you, he wants you to act in TV dramas, and there is indeed a role he needs you for."

"Huh? So he's not a fraud?"

"Yes and no. He won't meet with the parents, and he makes you relay everything, hoping you'll misinterpret the message. Did you tell him you were short of money and that you sell candied hawthorns?"

"He...he asked me who else was in my family and what they did, and I told him."

Han Fei sighed, "How can this child be so careless, telling everyone everything?"

"He must have learned about your family situation and then had some crooked ideas. He figured that parents in a family like yours would be eager to agree, afraid of missing such a good opportunity. Once people become greedy, they become confused. The next day, when you go to answer him, he will take you directly to film a movie. This is with the parents' consent, so even if something goes wrong later, he can shirk responsibility."

Han Chengwu was completely confused: "So what exactly did he lie to me about? It seems like he didn't lie to me at all."

"The problem lies with that TV series; there must be something wrong with the character you played."

"What kind of problem could there be?" Han Chengwu was even more puzzled.

Han Fei narrowed his dangerous eyes: "It's a role that parents would definitely refuse if it were stated openly, otherwise why go through all this trouble?"

Han Chengshan asked solemnly, "Grandpa, it's not some low-class pornographic film, is it?"

Han Fei's face turned cold: "We'll find out tomorrow when we meet that sneaky fellow."

If it's as I suspected, then that disgusting guy won't be able to leave unscathed.
