Chapter 16: Crutch (2/2)

After having breakfast, I felt much better.

"Should I ask the captain for leave?" Tang Wan thought of this question after eating. It hadn't rained in the past few days and she almost forgot about it.

"When I went to the educated youth site yesterday, I told those female educated youths and asked them to bring a message to you tomorrow and explain the situation. The team leader should have known about it." Grandma Bai said. She had thought it through long ago.

"Thank you, grandma."

"Why are you always so polite? Since you call me grandma, don't keep saying thank you. It just seems so polite." Grandma Bai pretended to be angry.

Tang Wan quickly coaxed, "It's my fault, it's my fault."

Seeing her acting like a little girl begging for mercy, Grandma Bai's smile deepened, and she could no longer pretend to be angry: "You kid, you are a little more lively now."

"How is your relationship with the female educated youth who went to the countryside with you?" Grandma Bai suddenly asked.

"It's okay, we didn't talk much. What's wrong, grandma?" Tang Wan immediately realized that Grandma Bai was talking about Zhong Ling.

"Nothing, it's just that when I went to help you get something, you were very enthusiastic. You helped me with a lot and asked about your situation. You seemed quite enthusiastic." Grandma Bai seemed to be just asking casually.

"......" Tang Wan didn't know what to say. She didn't believe that Zhong Ling cared about her.

If Tang Wan guessed correctly, she was now a stumbling block in Zhong Ling's eyes. She was someone who was very likely to snatch Zhao Dong from her and was an obstacle to her happiness in her future life.

I just don't hope she comes out, because I feel like I won't care about her.

However, it is quite normal for her to be enthusiastic towards Grandma Bai. After all, Zhong Ling's character is one of being warm, generous and helpful.

Her acquaintance with the male protagonist, her later acquaintance with the little boy’s parents from the supply and marketing cooperative, and the subsequent golden fingers were mostly due to her character.

"She is a kind-hearted person." Tang Wan said.

Grandma Bai glanced at her and said, "Enthusiastic people are not necessarily good people."

Under Tang Wan's surprised gaze, Grandma Bai stood up like no one else and asked, "Are you going to dry those mushrooms you picked yesterday?"

"Did you bring my mushrooms down with you?" Tang Wan didn't bother asking what Grandma Bai meant by that when she mentioned it. She also understood that Grandma Bai's mention of it was a way of telling her not to ask.

"Yes, they brought it down for you yesterday. I think there are quite a lot." Grandma Bai went to the backyard and brought back Tang Wan's backpack.

Tang Wan’s backpack was not big, but it was full.

Tang Wan clearly remembered that when the wild boar came, mushrooms were scattered all over the ground. Now these were probably picked up for her by Qin Zheng last night.

"I didn't expect that these would happen in such a panic." Tang Wan murmured.

"You've worked so hard to make this, are you sending it back home? I'll post it for you tomorrow."

"Yeah." Tang Wan nodded. Her original plan was to dry it and mail it back to Tang's father.

"I'll help you get it done. The weather is nice today." Grandma Bai said as she started to work.

"I'll go with you." Tang Wan sat next to Grandma Bai and learned how to handle mushrooms from her.

......

It took the two of them almost noon to finish this basket of mushrooms.

"What are you picking out this pile for?" Tang Wan looked at Grandma Bai with some confusion as she picked out a small pile of mushrooms.

"I'm afraid you'll see the villain after eating." A low and hoarse voice sounded, and Qin Zheng walked into the yard from outside the door.
