Chapter 38: Fishing (1/2)

Chapter 38: Fishing

The river bank is even more lively.

There were people standing all around, and the half-grown children had their trouser legs rolled up and their sleeves rolled up, waiting to go down and catch fish.

Those who were carrying wooden buckets and those who were holding homemade small fishing nets all had excited smiles on their faces. Although it had not started yet, they were already very excited.

As the water on this side was drained out, gradually the water could only reach the middle thigh of the adult.

As the captain shouted "enter the water", people from all directions rushed in in a daze.

At this time, young and old alike were extremely excited and rushed to the river.

Most of those who went down were men and children, and some brave women also joined the team.

There were even more people on the shore, all around watching the people catching fish in the middle of the river.

At the beginning, everyone was a little restrained in their movements. When a few people caught fish as long as a child's arm, the rest of the people started to get anxious.

The battle in the river became fierce for a while.

There were several people trying to catch a fish together but still failed, and some children were even better at it than the adults.

Some fish even jumped out of the water when being chased, which caused a fight among several people nearby but no one was caught. The people on the shore were having a great time watching and even the people in the river cheered them on.

There were even people shouting for a competition. For a moment, I couldn't tell who they were. I only remembered the fun of people catching fish in the river.

The caught fish were also sent bucket by bucket into the small puddle on the shore.

The stray dogs in the village circled around the fish, wagging their tails, and were then chased away by the children who were guarding nearby.

The fish in this river are not very big, most of them are the size of a palm, but there are quite a lot of them.

When we first went down, many children were shouting that fish hit their legs. The atmosphere became more and more lively. Many people on the shore could not resist the atmosphere and rolled up their trouser legs to go down.

There was no work to do down there at this time, but they went down there just to have fun.

At this time, people who I know and don’t know, people who talk and don’t talk, all become easy to talk to.

You help me carry the bucket, and I help you pull your feet out.

The laughter and joy never stopped.

Especially the children who went down there at the beginning. There is a small river in the village and most children can swim. But when they went down to catch fish, they all had muddy faces, and the mud on their faces almost covered their facial features.

Hearing the adults next to them laughing at them, the children worked even harder and got their bodies all messed up.

But at this time no adult would get angry about this, as if today was a time to indulge themselves.

After one side is completed, there is another side.

People were so excited that no one even wanted to go back for lunch.

It was almost sunset when I finally finished my fishing mission.

The fish that were brought ashore were all in the puddles that had been dug nearby. The children, who were too young to go into the river, would play around in the puddles.

By the time everyone came up, the team leader and the accountant had already prepared the scales for the fish.

The fish were fished out of the puddle, put into four large baskets and weighed.

The accountant quickly calculated how many fish each person should catch, and then distributed the fish according to the number of people in each family.
