Chapter 10 Little Flower

Chapter 10 Little Flower

Xia Zhen's appearance was like a shooting star in the night; she would always capture people's attention for a moment before disappearing without a trace.

Just like that night, she left behind that intriguing word "cute," and then easily said goodbye before leaving.

Lu Jin couldn't sleep that night.

He arrived at school earlier than usual today, and apart from the students on duty, there was no one else in the classroom.

Lu Jin doesn't greet people, and the people in the classroom are used to treating him as if he doesn't exist. After arriving at his seat, he took out his textbook and placed it on the desk.

Everything he did was just like him—quiet, so quiet that it went unnoticed.

But things are different now. Ever since a prominent figure sat next to him, even he, who was used to being ignored, has become more conspicuous.

"Lu Jin!" The boy on duty today asked with a particularly gossipy tone when he got to Lu Jin's spot while sweeping, "How are things going with your new classmate?"

Look, even people who are usually quiet are now taking the initiative to talk to him.

Lu Jin opened a book in his hand, not even looking up, and said in a cold tone, "Not very good."

The student on duty was shocked. "Don't you like sitting with the new classmate?"

"dislike."

"Why?" The student on duty couldn't understand. Last night, their class group chat was quite lively, with many boys lamenting why the new classmates hadn't chosen them as their deskmates.

Some people have even made bets on how long the new student will be able to stand it and ask the teacher to change seats.

Why don't you like it?

Lu Jin's long eyelashes trembled slightly. "She talks too much."

"A lot?" The student on duty asked, puzzled. His voice trembled when he saw the girl who had appeared beside him. "Xia...Xia Zhen..."

Lu Jin tightened his grip on the book. The moment he looked up, the girl's image filled his eyes. His fingertips stiffened, and his whole body seemed to grow cold.

Xia Zhen stared at him with half-closed eyes, not saying a word, but with a hint of fierceness in her expression.

The student on duty sensed the unusual atmosphere. He quickly lowered his head, grabbed his broom, and walked away. There was already an air of impending war here; he didn't want to get caught in the crossfire.

With a "thud," Xia Zhen's schoolbag landed heavily on the desk. It seemed to be quite full, as the sound of it hitting the ground was very loud.

Lu Jin trembled and unconsciously leaned closer to the wall.

Xia Zhen ignored him and sat down in the chair. Every time she took a book out of her bag, she would slam it heavily on the table, making a loud noise.

But she just wouldn't say a word.

Now there are more and more people in the classroom.

The math class representative, sitting in the front row to the side, quietly asked her deskmate, "What's wrong with the new student?"

The class representative for Chinese language answered quietly, "They're angry."

The math class representative said curiously, "Do all girls get angry in such strange ways?"

The class representative for Chinese rolled her eyes at him, "You can't guess what a girl is thinking."

The morning self-study session started and ended, the first class started and ended, and Xia Zhen didn't say a word to the person next to her from beginning to end.

Someone whispered, "Is Lu Jin about to fall out of favor?"

Someone else whispered back, "Doesn't that mean my chance to rise to the top is coming?"

A Chinese textbook was suddenly placed in front of her.

Xia Zhen turned her head and looked over.

Lu Jin said, "I took notes."

He remembered what she had said before: after each class, she would borrow his notes to copy.

But now, Xia Zhen snorted and stopped looking in his direction. Instead, she rested her chin on her hands on the table and stared blankly ahead. Naturally, she didn't touch his book at all.

Lu Jin pursed his lips slightly.

What's even more incredible is that during biology class, when the teacher asked students to discuss problems with their deskmates, Xia Zhen did indeed discuss them with Lu Jin.

A notebook was thrown onto Lu Jin's desk. On one of the pages was a line written by the girl: "I think this experiment will fail because the control group is problematic."

Lu Jin looked at her.

She blinked her beautiful eyes, truly trying not to annoy him, and thus refrained from saying a word to him.

Lu Jin called her, "Xia Zhen".

She tilted her head slightly, the end of her ponytail swaying gently behind her, blurring several streaks of light and shadow.

She still refused to speak to him, and wouldn't even call him by name.

Lu Jin lowered his eyes, the sullen feeling in his heart was indescribable. She talked too much. He was the one who said those words, but now that she wasn't talking to him, he didn't feel happy.

Physical education class was about to start, and the students in the class left the classroom one after another during the break, Xia Zhen was no exception.

The class representative for Chinese quietly circled around to Lu Jin's direction and whispered, "To win a girl's heart, just give her a small gift, even a little flower from the roadside will do."

After saying that, the Chinese and math class representatives left the classroom. The latter asked curiously, "Why did you tell him all this?"

The class representative clicked her tongue twice, "If I didn't point a finger at him, do you think that chauvinistic Lu Jin would know how to coax a girl?"

Soon only Lu Jin remained in the classroom. He quietly looked out the window as the boys and girls in school uniforms walked towards the playground, chatting and laughing. Only he was left behind.

The physical education class ended with an 800-meter run, after which the students who finished were free to do other things.

Xia Zhen was the first to finish the race, which surprised many people. They really couldn't believe that this new student had such good athletic ability.

Xia Zhen wasn't familiar with the school yet, so she decided to wander around. She walked along a tree-lined path and, unexpectedly, she saw the familiar figure of the boy.

Isn't he having trouble making a move? Why isn't he staying in the classroom?

He saw her too.

Lu Jin instinctively hid his hands behind his back, his usually emotionless eyes now showing panic.

Xia Zhen walked over and stopped in front of him. She glanced curiously behind him but saw nothing.

She took out paper and pen from the pocket of her school uniform jacket.

Lu Jin knew she wanted to communicate with him through writing again. His lips pursed into a line, and he finally mustered the courage to extend his hand from behind his back.

A bright yellow hue appeared before Xia Zhen's eyes.

It was an unnamed wildflower, and the boy's knuckles were white as he gripped the flower stem, whether from excessive force or nervousness.

He said with difficulty, "I'm sorry."

The sun was shining brightly at that moment, and its rays dappled through the leaves onto him. What would be warm to an ordinary person would burn him.

His wrists had sunburned red marks, and not only his hands, but also his face had an abnormal redness.

No one answered him.

His eyes gradually dimmed, and the hand holding the flower gradually lost its strength.

Suddenly, a school uniform jacket was placed over his head.

The girl had fair skin, black hair, bright eyes, and white teeth. She bent down and straightened the coat that was covering his head. When she met his gaze, she smiled and said, "I forgive you."

She accepted the flower.

And the scent of her lingered around his nose.

The boy in the wheelchair gripped the armrests tightly several times.

He was like someone caught in the ocean waves, bobbing up and down, sometimes able to breathe, sometimes suffering from oxygen deprivation.

His white hair slightly obscured his clear, bright eyes, adding a touch of vulnerability, as if his defenses had crumbled in an instant. He reached out and pulled down the girl's coat that was covering him, completely obscuring his eyes.

He only showed the lower half of his face to the girl, his thin lips pressed tightly together, "Please... don't play this on me anymore."

The emotion conveyed in this statement is not as simple as a plea.

Xia Zhen bent down, lifted her coat slightly with both hands, and then slipped her head inside.

In the dim light, he suddenly came into contact with the girl's face, which was inches away from his own, and he held his breath for a moment.

The closer you get, the more you realize how fair his skin really is.

Like Snow White from the story.

She smiled and said, "Tell me, I haven't even touched you yet, so how am I playing you?"

That final, rising tone was clearly meant to seduce him.
