Chapter 9 You're So Cute

Chapter 9 You're So Cute

Sitting in the car, Xia Zhen was looking down at her phone. When she saw the pink app icon, she couldn't resist clicking on it.

The game interface opened, and it was still that dark room. The child was curled up in the corner, motionless. His head was buried in his knees, and his white hair was scattered messily. His face could not be seen. He was probably asleep.

It was only at this moment that Xia Zhen noticed that there were faint scars on the boy's wrist, where his sleeve was slightly rolled up.

She brought the phone closer to make sure she wasn't mistaken.

For some reason, she suddenly felt a little depressed.

There's an extra white star-shaped candy in the glass bottle in the upper right corner. It turns out that if you do a good deed, you really will get an extra candy here.

Xia Zhen couldn't wait to feed the boy the white star-shaped candy.

He still didn't react, but the wounds on his wrists had lightened considerably.

Xia Zhen gently touched the boy's body with the pad of her finger. Then, she rested her chin on her hand and sighed to herself, "What's wrong with this poor little guy?"

Uncle Zhao, who was driving, asked with concern, "Miss, how are you feeling at your new school today?"

I don't know what got into the boss when he called him in the middle of the night that day. He suddenly said he wanted to change the girl's school and repeatedly told him to pay more attention to the girl's inner world.

Uncle Zhao felt that there was no one in the world more optimistic than Miss. After all, even if she was humiliated by the person she liked in front of so many social celebrities at a banquet, Miss would go to the river for a walk and come back to be the same person who was happy every day.

Xia Zhen smiled and said, "The new school is great, and the classmates are great too."

"That's good." While waiting at the traffic light, Uncle Zhao casually added, "The boss has already found a few houses for Miss. She just needs to go and see which one she likes best."

The high school was too far from their villa, so it was impossible for Xia Zhen to stay there. From childhood to adulthood, Xia Zhen had never even washed her own clothes once, and Xia Yu was not comfortable with his daughter staying at home.

So in the end, he could only decide to spend a little money to buy a house near No. 1 Middle School and let Xia Zhen and her nanny live there. Of course, she had to go back to the Xia family home every Friday.

Xia Zhen suddenly became interested, "Uncle Zhao, can you take me to see the house now?"

Uncle Zhao hesitated for a moment, "But dinner..."

"It's okay, I can just grab something to eat at the shop."

Xia Zhen is a woman of action. She sent Xia Yu a message saying she wouldn't be coming home for dinner. Xia Yu knew that Uncle Zhao was with her, so he wasn't worried. Besides, Xia Yu himself was a very busy person and might not be able to come home for dinner every day.

After solving the problem of food, Uncle Zhao took Xia Zhen to see the first location of the house, which Xia Zhen felt looked somewhat familiar.

"Have we been here before?"

Uncle Zhao replied, "The boy that Miss helped last time lives in this neighborhood."

No. 1 Middle School is the best public school, and the houses nearby are all in the school district, so they are not cheap. However, this amount of money is just a drop in the ocean for the Xia family.

Xia Zhen stood at the entrance of the residential area, her interest suddenly piqued. "Okay, let's go in and take a look!"

The Lu family home was brightly lit, but the atmosphere at the dining table wasn't very pleasant.

Lu Huiming, holding his rice bowl, frowned. "Why are we having stir-fried pork liver again today?"

Hao Hui said, "Doesn't Xiao Ci like to eat?"

Lu Huiming complained, "Xiao Ci isn't coming home for dinner again today."

"How would I know? Xiaoci only told me she wasn't coming home for dinner after I finished cooking. Did you expect me to throw away the food I made? It's not like we have a lot of money."

In order for Lu Ci to attend No. 1 Middle School, the couple practically emptied their savings as a down payment to buy a small apartment in this neighborhood. They usually lived frugally on food and clothing, but when it came to Lu Ci, they were very willing to spend money.

The kitten's weak meows, which were not loud to begin with, sounded particularly piercing at this moment.

Lu Huiming slammed the bowl he was holding onto the table. "Lu Jin, if you can't quiet it down, just throw it away! It's so noisy!"

Hao Hui gently advised Lu Huiming, "Don't get so angry that you hurt yourself."

Lu Huiming snorted and said without any hesitation, "I told you from the beginning that he couldn't stay. Look at him, does he look like a normal person? I was demoted in the company right after he was born. Because of him, how many people have looked down on us behind our backs and how many times have we been laughed at?"

Hao Hui's expression wasn't good either; this child was also a source of resentment in her heart.

The door in the corner opened, and the boy pushed his wheelchair out of the room.

Hao Hui looked over and, for no apparent reason, felt that his overly pale skin and snow-white hair were particularly dazzling under the light.

The boy was expressionless, looking at everything with indifference. His personality was too cold, making it impossible for anyone to get close to him.

Hao Hui closed her eyes briefly to calm herself down. Looking at the boy who had already reached the door, she softened her tone and asked, "Where are you going?"

Lu Jin gently stroked the little white cat wrapped in a small blanket in his arms, which was occasionally meowing. "I'll come in when it stops meowing."

Lu Huiming began, "You..."

“I know that if anyone sees me and asks me, I will just say that I wanted to take a walk outside, and that it’s none of your business.” He opened the door and went out of the house.

Lu Huiming slammed his chopsticks down. "Look at his attitude! How can he talk to his father like that? That cat is just as annoying as him. If he does anything even slightly good, I'll be thanking my lucky stars!"

"Alright, just say less."

The closed door shut out the sounds inside the room, and the motion-activated lights in the hallway turned on.

He habitually went to the window, where he could see a small patch of sky outside, and even the occasional cold night breeze wasn't unpleasant.

The kitten in my arms must be hungry, it kept meowing.

He knew that the people who were called his parents wouldn't kindly feed the kitten.

Lu Jin felt the contents of his pocket. He knew it wasn't good for cats to eat sweets, but this was all he had right now.

He took out the pink-packaged bread, tore open the bag, tore off a small piece, and put it to the kitten's mouth.

The kitten sniffed gently, then couldn't resist taking small bites.

He silently promised the kitten that he would do his best to buy it cat food.

The kitten stuck out its tongue and licked his finger.

The boy's brows relaxed, and a slight smile seemed to appear on his gently upturned lips.

The first thing Xia Zhen saw when she walked out of the house next door was this scene.

Uncle Zhao, who came out last, asked curiously, "Miss?"

The sudden sound made the smile in Lu Jin's eyes vanish without a trace. When he looked up, he was back to his guarded and silent state. But when he saw the girl, his gaze paused for a moment.

Xia Zhen looked at the bread in his hand.

He suddenly felt helpless, the bread in his hand became the hottest thing in his hand. He lowered his head in embarrassment, his pale lips slightly pursed. After a while, he whispered, "I'm sorry."

Xia Zhen blinked. "Why are you apologizing to me?"

"I fed the things you gave me to Little White."

Xia Zhen suddenly burst out laughing.

Lu Jin raised his head again.

When she smiled, the corners of her eyes and the corners of her lips turned up, making no attempt to hide her joy. Bathed in light, her eyes sparkled. "Lu Jin, you're so cute."

Uncle Zhao exclaimed, "Miss!"

Xia Zhen clasped her hands together, looking pitiful again, and said, "Uncle Zhao, don't tell my dad what you said."

Uncle Zhao rubbed his forehead, feeling a headache coming on.

It seems no one noticed that the boy by the window, his body tense, had already blushed bright red at the tips of his ears.
