Chapter 14 The Desire to Share
"Seeing that car coming right away, I rushed over, picked up the child, and ran back as fast as I could!" Xia Zhen described her heroic act with great enthusiasm. Finally, she looked at the wound on her knee with a bitter expression and sighed, "Unfortunately, I'm still not very good at fighting, and I actually got injured."
As she spoke, her voice was filled with worry, "I wonder if my fair, jade-like skin will be scarred?"
"Won't."
Xia Zhen looked at him, "How do you know you can't?"
Lu Jin, without looking up, put a band-aid on her knee and said, "This kind of minor injury will heal quickly and won't leave a scar."
"It sounds like... you have a lot of experience with injuries?"
He didn't answer, but instead pulled the girl's leg off him and said coldly, "Okay."
Xia Zhen said again, looking aggrieved, "No."
Her eyes were still red at the corners, and the mist in her eyes gathered, forming droplets that seemed about to fall, making her look incredibly pitiful.
He asked, "Where else are you injured?"
"I'm injured here." Xia Zhen held out her hand, cupping her chest.
Lu Jin remained silent for a while before deciding to push the wheelchair away.
But the girl's hand grabbed the armrest of the wheelchair first, and then a wilted little yellow flower was presented to him.
"The flowers you gave me got crushed," Xia Zhen said, quite disappointed. "I was thinking of putting them in a vase and displaying them on my desk in my room."
She comes from a good family, so why should she care about such a little flower?
Lu Jin said, "This is just a very ordinary flower."
"But this is the first gift you've ever given me."
His gaze paused slightly.
Xia Zhen leaned closer to his face, her expression serious and earnest, and said, "Although you will give me many more things in the future, this is the first gift you have given me. You know, for a girl, anything that is called the first time always has special meaning."
"...When did I ever say I would give you lots of things?"
Xia Zhen blinked. "Don't try to change the subject. We're talking about this flower. Why are you talking about something else?"
Anyway, she's always the one who's right.
Lu Jin pursed his lips.
"This is the first flower you ever gave me..." Xia Zhen stared longingly at the drooping flower in her hand, and sighed dejectedly, "It's gone before I even had a chance to enjoy it... I'm so sad, I don't feel happy no matter how much chocolate I eat, what should I do?"
"I..." His mouth moved, but his voice was so soft that it was impossible to hear what he said.
Xia Zhen asked, "What did you say?"
He gripped the handrail tighter. "I'll pick some for you later."
Xia Zhen feigned surprise, "Are you serious?"
He hummed in agreement.
She laughed. "Okay, I'll believe you this once."
Xia Zhen's eyebrows curved, and the smile in her eyes seemed to chase after the moonlight. The corners of her lips also turned up, expressing her smugness after her little scheme succeeded without any attempt to hide it.
How can a person be able to look down and feel lost one second and then smile happily the next?
Frustration appeared in Lu Jin's eyes.
He had clearly warned himself repeatedly that she was a con artist, but he still couldn't help but believe her and fall into her trap every time.
Xia Zhen stood up, her energy restored, and said with a smile, "Lu Jin, let's go home together."
Lu Jin looked up at her.
She remembered something and smiled, "I haven't told you yet, have I? I moved to the house across from yours. From now on, we're neighbors. Aren't you happy?"
he:"……"
“So, we can go to and from school together from now on.” Xia Zhen put her things into his arms, then walked behind him and pushed his wheelchair. “Our home is too far from the school, and I don’t want to get up too early every day, so my dad bought me a house near the school.”
She made it sound so easy. Who could buy a house next to the best school in the city without extraordinary financial resources?
Xia Zhen kept talking, "My dad was worried that I wouldn't be used to going to and from school alone. I told him that one of my classmates lives across the street. He's a very kind person, good-looking, and always willing to help others. He even lends me his notes to copy, and he teaches me how to do the problems I don't know how to do..."
After she listed so many of her virtues, even Lu Jin couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed.
"After my dad found out that I had such a good classmate to go to and from school with, he was relieved and didn't arrange for a driver to pick me up every day."
Actually, what Xia Zhen said was half true and half false.
After she said she wanted to book the house opposite Lu Jin, Xia Yu investigated all the nearby residents to make sure there were no troublesome or weird neighbors before reluctantly agreeing to let Xia Zhen move in.
As for not needing Uncle Zhao to pick her up and drop her off at school, it was Xia Zhen's own strong request. She's no longer studying at a prestigious school, so adapting to local customs is a feasible and necessary thing.
On the way back, Lu Jin didn't say a word the whole time. At most, he would just say "hmm" when she mentioned his name. He didn't know where she got so much to say to him. It was as if in her eyes, even the smallest thing was worth telling him.
Finally, he couldn't help but speak up, "Do you really need to tell me what you ate today?"
“Yes.” Xia Zhen bent down from behind. “Lu Jin, I’m sharing my stories with you so that our relationship will get better and better.”
The sound came from beside his ear.
Lu Jin raised his eyes slightly and saw the girl's smiling face so close to his. He realized that she had gotten so close to him without him even noticing.
She was still looking at him with a smile.
He felt a slight tingling sensation on the side of his face. Before this strange feeling spread throughout his body, he lowered his eyes, his eyelashes still trembling slightly.
share……
Just thinking about those two words made him feel like there was a cat's paw scratching at his heart, it was so itchy.
There was still a bright yellow hue in his eyes.
Not long ago, the girl had put a bunch of things on him, including this little flower.
It was just a withered flower that had been crushed.
I really don't understand why she didn't just throw it in the trash, but instead chose to take it home?
And there she was again, her incessant chatter.
The boy gently poked the petals of the little flower with his finger, but soon lost interest and withdrew his hand.
The smooth touch of the flower petals is less than one-tenth the feel of a girl's skin.
Realizing what he was thinking, the boy lowered his head even further.
Xia Zhen tilted her head in surprise.
Why are his ears red again?
