Chapter 81 Only One Person Loves Me
Hao Hui was brought back.
After this period of torment, she has become quite haggard. Everyone says she is sick, but she knows she is not. If she continues to deny it, people will only use the excuse that she has not yet come to terms with reality to prevent her from returning.
If she stays in that kind of special hospital for too long, she will get sick even if she doesn't have one.
She had to admit to herself that she did have a problem, and then act as if she had admitted her mistake and regretted it in front of others before she was released.
"Hao Hui, you know I'm very busy with work, can you please stop causing me all this trouble?" Lu Huiming said impatiently on the phone. "I know what happened to Xiao Ci has hit you hard, and I feel sad too, but we can't live in the past, we have to look forward. Besides, Xiao Ci is your most beloved child, how can you bear to hurt him!"
Hao Hui sat wearily on the sofa, gripping her phone tightly. "Even you think I'm the one who's trying to harm Xiao Ci?"
"Who else could it be but you?"
"It's Lu..."
"Are you trying to talk about Lu Jin again?"
Hao Hui felt a lump in her throat.
Lu Huiming said with exasperation, "Are you paranoid? Don't you know what kind of person Lu Jin is? Besides, he hasn't fully recovered yet. How could he possibly harm Xiao Ci? Hao Hui, don't blame me for not reminding you. We'll still have to rely on Lu Jin for our old age. If you ruin your relationship with him, you should think about who will take care of Xiao Ci when he's lying in a hospital bed, not just yourself!"
Hao Hui was speechless.
"Okay, you're better off at home. I'll come back to see you when I have time."
Lu Huiming hung up the phone.
Hao Hui sat on the sofa for a long time without moving, until the sound of the door opening rang out.
The boy in the wheelchair saw her and wasn't surprised. Instead, he said gently and affectionately, "Mom, you're back."
You're finally back in this hell.
Hao Hui seemed to hear those words again, and the air in the room seemed to freeze, making it hard to breathe. This oppressive feeling made Hao Hui's nerves tense.
"Lu Jin!" A girl ran over from the opposite direction and grabbed his hand. "I can still come to your house for tutoring today..."
Xia Zhen stopped speaking after seeing a woman sitting in the room. She looked at Lu Jin hesitantly, wondering if she would cause him trouble.
She hurriedly tried to let go of his hand, but he grabbed it instead.
Hao Hui stared blankly at the two people's clasped hands, unable to react for a moment.
Xia Zhen was a little nervous, "Lu Jin?"
He said, "If you come to my house, I will tutor you, and you can help me with rehabilitation exercises. This is great. Besides, my mother is going to the hospital to see my younger brother later."
Lu Jin looked at the woman sitting on the sofa and asked in a very polite manner, "Right, Mom?"
The word "Mom" was constantly rubbing against Hao Hui's fragile nerves.
She stiffened, and involuntarily forced a smile. "Yes."
Lu Jin looked at Xia Zhen again, his gaze had softened and was even a little smiling, as if to say: See, I was right.
Xia Zhen couldn't help but glance at Hao Hui again. She felt that the woman had become much more haggard, as if she had lost her vitality.
The boy tightened his grip on her hand slightly, drawing her attention back to him.
She looked at him and whispered, "Then I'll come find you tonight."
He nodded. "Okay."
This time he let go of her hand, and Xia Zhen ran back.
Lu Jin entered the house and closed the door behind him.
Hao Hui stood up and tentatively asked, "When did your relationship with that girl become so good?"
“We’re deskmates, so of course we’re close.” Lu Jin raised her eyes and said gently, “It must not be easy for Mom to come back. If she did something unnecessary and got taken away, even though my brother can’t move, he will definitely be very sad.”
Hao Hui tensed up; she knew very well that she was being threatened.
The boy in front of her was still very young, but the danger he exuded was enough to remind her of another dangerous man.
Hao Hui forced a smile. "Are you hungry? I'll go cook."
She went into the kitchen and busied herself, as if she had truly returned to her former role as a virtuous wife and loving mother. It was unclear when it started, but the Lu family's dining table now only featured light and simple dishes.
Of course, Hao Hui's cooking skills were not bad either, but she had no appetite. She felt that being in the same room with Lu Jin was a torturous thing. She ate a few bites in a hurry, left a message that she would wash the dishes when she came back, and then prepared to go out.
As she stood at the door changing her shoes, her hand instinctively reached for the first shelf of the locker, but she couldn't find the key. She looked up and saw that the key was on the second shelf of the locker, and she paused.
Immediately, Hao Hui turned around and questioned, "You can stand up now, can't you!"
Lu Jin took a sip of soup slowly, put down the bowl, and looked calmly at the woman at the door. "Mom, what are you saying?"
She picked up the bunch of keys. "I've always kept these keys on the first shelf of this cabinet, but now their location has changed!"
Hao Hui seemed to have caught Lu Jin red-handed, and she became agitated, "You were able to stand up a long time ago! You were the one who put that knife in my hand!"
Lu Jin's eyes showed pity. "You were there when I had my check-up last time, and you heard the doctor say that I wouldn't be able to stand up anytime soon. Even if I could stand up, why would I touch your keys? What good would it do me to expose myself?"
Yes, if he wanted to frame Hao Hui, why would he reveal that he could stand up?
Hao Hui was in a daze.
Lu Jin said, "Moreover, I saw that your key has always been placed on the first shelf of the cabinet, and its position has never changed."
Has it not changed?
Hao Hui looked down at the keys in her hand, her mind a complete mess.
Lu Jin then asked, "Mom, are you... hallucinating again?"
Hallucination?
She had heard those two words far too many times when her freedom was restricted.
She's normal!
How could she possibly be hallucinating?
No... what if something happens?
She really was hallucinating...
Hao Hui took a step back in a panic, and said in a fright, "No, it's... I must have seen wrong. Yes, the key's position hasn't changed. I must have seen wrong!"
She hurriedly turned around, pushed open the door, and left the Lu family home.
The little white cat had somehow walked up to Lu Jin's side and let out a lazy meow.
Lu Jin looked down at it, "Little White, this home is quite interesting, isn't it?"
"Meow!"
It's here begging for cat food, who cares if this house is even interesting!
Lu Jin bent down, his eyes gleaming, and whispered in a seductive voice, "Go to the opposite door and call out a few more times. If you can urge Zhenzhen to come over quickly, I'll give you an extra meal today."
"Meow!" Little White jumped up and immediately rushed out the door.
Lu Jin sat quietly in the living room for a while.
I heard the sound of a door opening and closing across the street.
He picked up the glass, spilling water all over his clothes. Just as he put the glass down, the girl pushed open the door that she had deliberately left open and ran in.
"Lu Jin, I've come to find you!"
He looked at her, his eyes sparkling.
She laughed energetically, then noticed the water stains on his clothes. She quickly knelt down and asked, "What happened?"
Lu Jin pretended nothing was wrong, "It's nothing, Mom just went out in a hurry and accidentally bumped into a cup."
Seeing that the girl was about to get angry, he grabbed one of her hands, and a strong smile appeared on his pale face. "I'm really okay, Zhenzhen. Even though you're the only one in this world who cares about me, I'm already very content."
You are all alone.
This statement conveys a stronger sense of responsibility than any unbreakable relationship in the world.
Xia Zhen hugged him. "Lu Jin, I will always be with you."
He lowered his eyes, the shadows cast by his stray hairs obscuring the emotions in them. He wrapped his arms around her body, pulling her tightly into his embrace, yet his breath still carried a fragile and sorrowful air.
But in a direction she couldn't see, the corners of his lips seemed to curve into a smile.
