Chapter 28 High-Price Buyback

Lin Cuiying rolled her eyes at it again, "Alright, alright, stop showing off."

Just then, Lin Cuiying suddenly heard a strange sound.

Her expression changed, and she quickly looked around warily.

From the bushes not far away, a pair of bright green eyes were staring at her!

The little boy in the bib also noticed something was wrong and was so frightened that he fell off the auspicious cloud.

"Oh my god, what is this thing?" it stammered.

Why should a virtual system like yours be afraid of these things?

If Lin Cuiying's eye-rolling could be rolled to the back of her head, one could definitely see a pair of disdainful eyes from the back of her head.

"Look at you, so pathetic! Anyone who didn't know better would think you'd seen a ghost!"

Seeing that Lin Cuiying was not afraid, its bright green eyes revealed its true form—a green lizard.

The snake's body was half a meter long, but its head looked like a rat's, making it appear strange and ugly.

Lin Cuiying took a deep breath; she had never seen such a snake before.

"System, do you know what kind of snake this is?" she asked.

The little boy in the bib popped up again, "Host, don't worry, this snake isn't poisonous."

Lin Cuiying breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good."

She cautiously met the green snake's gaze, then slowly backed away.

The green snake didn't chase after her; it just stared at her for a while before swimming back into the grass.

"Huh? Why did the snake move away?" She looked at the green snake's retreating figure with a puzzled expression.

Perhaps it's because I'm timid and afraid of people, which is why I didn't come with the others.

The black dot next to Lin Cuiying on the map was slowly moving further away from her.

How come this danger isn't dangerous at all?

Just as Lin Cuiying relaxed her guard, the little boy in the bib suddenly reappeared.

"Host, don't be too careless, this snake went to call for help!"

She ignored the system's words, put away the Polygonum multiflorum, and prepared to leave.

But after walking only a few steps, Lin Cuiying suddenly heard a rustling sound.

Her expression changed, and she quickly turned around to look.

Suddenly, the green snake from before appeared and led a group of its companions to crawl over!

"Holy crap, this snake really went to call for help!" Lin Cuiying exclaimed.

The little boy in the bib was also startled. "Host, what should we do now?"

Lin Cuiying glared at it, "You're asking me? Who should I ask?"

As the swarm of snakes drew ever closer, she felt a growing sense of unease.

These snakes are not venomous, but there are so many of them that if you get surrounded by them, you'll be in big trouble!

"System, do you have any ideas?" Lin Cuiying asked anxiously.

The little boy in the bib scratched his head. "Why don't you run away, host?"

Lin Cuiying nearly spat out a mouthful of blood. "This is your method?"

The little boy in the bib chuckled sheepishly, "I had no choice."

Lin Cuiying calmed herself down.

As she watched the approaching swarm of snakes, a sudden inspiration struck her.

"System, do you think these snakes are afraid of fire?" she asked.

The little boy in the bib was taken aback. "Fire? You should be afraid of that, right?"

Just as Lin Cuiying touched the tinderbox in her arms, the little boy in the bib suddenly jumped out of the screen, his spiky braid almost poking her eye.

"Host! If you can capture these snakes alive, this system can buy them back at a high price."

Lin Cuiying's hand holding the tinderbox trembled, and a spark landed on the green snake's tail.

Suddenly, the snakes all raised their upper bodies and triangular heads, forming a strange Big Dipper formation.

"Host, look! They're doing square dancing!" The little boy in the bib excitedly swung his legs on the edge of the screen. "The third movement from the left isn't standard."

"Have you ever seen a square dance group spraying venom?!"

As soon as she finished speaking, three drops of dark green liquid splattered onto the tree trunk, brushing against Lin Cuiying's hair and instantly corroding the bark into honeycomb-like holes.

The toddler in a bib ripped off the screen and screamed, "Host, your backflip is perfect! Do a Thomas Flair and the system will record a video of it..."

"Shut up!"

These snakes have already started their attack; who wants to listen to the system's nonsense now?

"Clang!"

The moment the sparks flew from the dead branch that struck the snake formation, the seven green snakes suddenly spun around and launched themselves into the air.

Lin Cuiying watched helplessly as the snakes folded into spiraling darts like switchblades, carrying a foul stench as they hurtled towards her face. She reacted swiftly, rolling forward to dodge the snakes' deadly attack.

The snakes landed on the ground, quickly adjusted their posture, and launched another attack on Lin Cuiying.

Lin Cuiying dared not be careless, so she quickly got up from the ground and ran forward as fast as she could.

"Host, be careful!" the little boy in the bib shouted anxiously.

Lin Cuiying glanced back as she ran.

The snakes were hot on her heels, moving incredibly fast, and were about to catch up.

Lin Cuiying's heart tightened; she knew this couldn't go on.

"System, do you have any ideas?" she asked urgently.

The little boy in the bib scratched his head. "Why don't you breakdance, host? Maybe that will scare them away!"

Lin Cuiying was almost furious. "What kind of time is this to be joking around!"

The little boy in the bib chuckled, "I had no choice."

Lin Cuiying gritted her teeth; she knew she could only rely on herself now.

She looked around, hoping to find something she could use.

Suddenly, she noticed a cave not far ahead.

Lin Cuiying was overjoyed and quickly ran towards the cave.

"Host, what are you going to do?" the little boy in the bib asked in confusion.

"Let's hide in the cave," Lin Cuiying said.

She rushed into the cave and quickly turned back to block the entrance.

The snakes chased to the cave entrance, but seeing Lin Cuiying hide inside, they did not rush in rashly.

Instead, it wandered around the cave entrance, seemingly searching for a way in.

Lin Cuiying breathed a sigh of relief; at least she was safe for the time being.

"System, why don't these snakes rush in?" she asked.

The little boy in the bib scratched his head. "Maybe they're afraid of the dark."

Lin Cuiying rolled her eyes. "Are you afraid of the dark?"

The little boy in the bib was taken aback. "I'm not afraid."

"Then why are they afraid?" Lin Cuiying said irritably.

The little boy in the bib chuckled, "I was just guessing."

Lin Cuiying ignored it and instead watched the cave entrance warily.

She didn't know if the snakes would find a way in, but she knew she couldn't stay hidden here forever.

"System, hurry up and think of a solution," she urged.

The little boy in the bib scratched his head. "Why don't you meow like a cat, host? Maybe you can scare them away!"

Lin Cuiying almost spat out a mouthful of blood. "Can't you be a little more reliable?"

The little boy in the bib pouted, looking aggrieved. "I had no choice."

Just then, a noise suddenly came from the cave entrance.

Lin Cuiying's expression changed, and she quickly looked over.

Suddenly, a green snake slithered in through a crack in the rocks!

"Wow, these snakes are pretty smart!" Lin Cuiying exclaimed.

The little boy in the bib was also startled. "Host, what should we do now?"
