Chapter 29 Small Business

Lin Cuiying glared at it. "You're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?"

As the green snake drew closer, she felt a growing sense of unease.

The green snake wasn't particularly thick, but it was incredibly fast, and it was about to reach her.

Lin Cuiying gripped the tinderbox tightly in her hand, preparing to stun it.

But just then, the little boy in the bib suddenly called out, "Host, wait!"

Lin Cuiying was taken aback. "What?"

The little boy in the bib pointed at the green snake and said, "Look at its head!"

Upon closer inspection, Lin Cuiying noticed a strange mark on the green snake's head.

“This is…” she looked at the little boy in the bib with a puzzled expression.

The little boy in the bib exclaimed excitedly, "This is the mark of the Snake King! This snake is the Snake King!"

Lin Cuiying's eyes lit up. "Doesn't that mean that as long as we catch it, we can control these snakes?"

The little boy in the bib nodded. "That's right!"

As Lin Cuiying watched the Green Serpent King approach, her heart began to race.

She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down.

"System, how do I catch it?" she asked.

The little boy in the bib scratched his head. "Why don't you use your beauty to seduce it, host?"

Lin Cuiying almost spat out a mouthful of blood. "Can't you be serious for once?"

The little boy in the bib chuckled, "I had no choice."

Lin Cuiying rolled her eyes and ignored it.

She stared intently at the green snake king, her mind racing as she considered a solution.

Suddenly, a brilliant idea struck her.

Lin Cuiying took a wild fruit out of her pocket. She had picked it on the road and intended to eat it as dry food.

She placed the wild fruit in her palm and then slowly reached out to the Green Serpent King.

When the Green Serpent King saw the wild fruit, a hint of doubt flashed in his eyes, but he quickly became greedy.

It quickened its pace and crawled toward Lin Cuiying.

Lin Cuiying felt a pang of anxiety, but she maintained her composure on the surface.

When the green snake king crawled up to her, she suddenly reached out and grabbed its head!

The Green Snake King struggled desperately, but Lin Cuiying held on tightly and wouldn't let go.

"Host, you're amazing!" the little boy in the bib exclaimed excitedly.

Lin Cuiying ignored it and instead looked at the snakes outside the cave.

Sure enough, as soon as the Green Snake King was captured, the other green snakes panicked and scurried around in all directions.

Lin Cuiying was overjoyed; she knew she had made the right bet.

This green snake king really can control these snakes!

"System, what should we do next?" she asked.

"Host, this is easy from here on out!" The little boy in the bib suddenly spun around, dressed in a mandarin jacket and wearing a melon-shaped hat, looking every bit the pawnshop owner. "Take out some hemp rope, tie up all these little snakes, and I can recycle them!"

Lin Cuiying's lips twitched slightly. "You make it sound so easy. These snakes are all alive. What if they bite me?"

"Don't worry, host! These little snakes are like headless flies right now, they definitely won't dare to bite you!"

Lin Cuiying thought about it and felt that what it said made sense.

He took out a hemp rope from the basket, carefully lifted the Green Snake King, and slowly walked out of the cave.

The green snakes that were originally scurrying around fell silent the moment they saw the Green Snake King being captured by Lin Cuiying.

She took out a hemp rope and began to tie up the green snakes one by one.

The shopkeeper's assistant excitedly helped from the side, "Master, the one on your left isn't tied properly, it'll come loose!"

"And the one on the right, it's trying to run away, you need to hold it down right now!"

Under the direction of the shopkeeper's boy, Lin Cuiying quickly tied up all the green snakes.

She looked at the pile of green snakes on the ground and felt a sense of accomplishment.

"System, how do you plan to recover these snakes?" she asked.

The shopkeeper chuckled and rubbed his hands together. "Host, just you wait and see!"

It stretched out its chubby little hand and waved it gently.

The bound green snakes disappeared into thin air one by one!

"Host, how was it? Wasn't my technique superb?" the shopkeeper boy boasted proudly.

Lin Cuiying rolled her eyes at the screen in front of her. "I'm asking about the recycling price, not how you recycled it."

Suddenly, a glittering golden abacus appeared in front of the shopkeeper's apprentice, its beads clattering and jumping around.

"Ding!" The abacus beads suddenly jammed. The shopkeeper's apprentice stared at the lone bead, flipped it over, and shook it: "Oh dear, host, the snake market is doing poorly this month!"

"Only worth ten copper coins?!" Lin Cuiying grabbed the shopkeeper's boy's topknot. "Do you think this is leftover rotten cabbage from the market?"

The shopkeeper's boy's tiger-head shoes were kicking wildly in mid-air when suddenly, "poof," he transformed into a scholar in a blue robe, still clutching half a piece of mung bean cake in his hand.

"Host, please calm down! The snake market crash is because..."

Lin Cuiying stared at it, arms crossed, looking like she didn't want to hear its excuses.

The scholar in the blue robe awkwardly hid the mung bean cake behind his back, trying to explain, "Host, please let me explain..."

"No need for explanations, your explanations are just a cover-up anyway." Lin Cuiying's eyes darted around. "These snakes were caught with great difficulty by me. Even if I took them to town and sold them casually, I wouldn't get this much."

The scholar in the blue robe smiled apologetically, "It's not that it's worthless, it's just that the price is a bit low for now."

"Low? As low as ten coins?" Lin Cuiying laughed in anger. "I risked my life to catch this snake, and it's only worth ten coins?"

The scholar in the green robe scratched his head, trying to change the subject: "Host, don't be discouraged. Although the snake wasn't worth much this time, you didn't come away empty-handed."

"What did you find?" Lin Cuiying asked irritably.

The scholar in the blue robe chuckled twice and cupped his hands in a respectful gesture to Lin Cuiying: "Host, you have received one chance to draw a prize this time!"

Lin Cuiying laughed in exasperation, "Once? Are you trying to fob me off like a beggar?"

"Host, you can't say that," the scholar in the green robe earnestly advised. "Even a lottery chance is a chance; you might just draw something good."

"Draw something good?" Lin Cuiying rolled her eyes. "Eight 'thank yous' and only one wins a prize? You have the nerve to say your lottery odds are high? It should take at least ten tries!"

"Ten times?" The scholar in the blue robe widened his eyes. "Host, your appetite is too big!"

"I only have this big appetite, so what?" Lin Cuiying put her hands on her hips, looking like she wouldn't let it go.

The scholar in the green robe sighed helplessly and began circling around Lin Cuiying: "Host, you know that my system is a small business, and it can't withstand your constant torment."

"I don't care, this isn't over until I have ten chances to win!" Lin Cuiying said firmly.

The scholar in the blue robe suddenly slapped his forehead: "How about this, host, allow me to consult with my superiors."
