Chapter 10 The Cicada Emerges

"Angie, let's go back."

"Ah!" Yuan Doudou had just turned around when she fell into a hole in the ground.

Anji shouted, "Mother!"

Yuan Doudou landed on her bottom, wincing in pain. Hearing Anji's shout, she quickly stood up and looked up at Anji, saying, "Anji, don't be afraid. Stand aside and shout when you see someone coming from a distance, so that others can come and rescue your mother."

Angie panicked and forgot to cry. She obediently looked around, but there was no one in sight.

"Mother, there's no one here, what should we do?" Angie's voice was hollow.

"Anji, don't cry. Wait a while, someone will come." We just parted ways with Aunt Zhang. At this time, there will definitely be other people coming to the mountains.

Yuan Doudou comforted Anji and looked around. The cave was two zhang wide and no more than three zhang deep.

It wasn't very deep, but the walls were incredibly smooth, with nowhere to grab onto, making it unlikely that one could climb out.

Yuan Doudou tried to step on it, but after only taking one small step, she slid down.

She tried several times, until she was panting heavily and drenched in sweat, before finally giving up.

Yuan Doudou slumped to the ground, intending to rest for a while before trying again, when suddenly a golden light flashed before her eyes.

She rubbed her eyes, thinking she was just seeing things from exhaustion, but the next second, a golden cicada appeared on the wall.

She didn't even notice when she arrived.

Yuan Doudou held her breath and tried to pinch the cicada with her hand. Just as she was about to touch it, the cicada flapped its wings and flew away to another place.

"You can actually fly?" Yuan Doudou was a little surprised. Don't cicadas molt? The shed shells can be sold for money.

Yuan Doudou watched the cicada fly around in the cave without stopping for a moment.

"Aren't you tired?" Yuan Doudou was so dizzy from being circled that she simply ignored it.

As she sat on the ground, thinking about how to get out, Jin Chan unknowingly landed on her shoulder.

Yuan Doudou sensed something was wrong and slapped her left hand down, landing right on top of the cicada.

"I've finally caught you." Yuan Doudou grinned, revealing her pearly white teeth. A live cicada is worth far more than its shell.

Yuan Doudou controlled the force in her hand, afraid of strangling Jin Chan to death.

"If you let me go, I'll take you up there." A soft, cute voice rang out, startling Yuan Doudou into a state of high alert.

"Who are you?" Yuan Doudou asked nervously, then realized how silly she was. "Is it you? Jin Chan?"

What incredible luck she had to run into a spirit insect!

“You’re not as stupid as I think. It is I, the noble cicada, the Golden Cicada,” the Golden Cicada said proudly.

"Okay, I can let you go, as long as you take me out of here." Yuan Doudou was pleasantly surprised that she could encounter such a strange thing after transmigrating.

Before Yuan Doudou could react, a gust of wind blew past her feet, and the next moment, she was already standing outside.

"Mother!" Anji ran over from a distance, followed by Wang Qiqiang.

Wang Qiqiang was covered in sweat, but he breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Yuan Doudou was safe and sound.

Yuan Doudou rushed forward, hugged Anji, and comforted him: "Anji, Mommy is fine, don't worry."

"Thank goodness! I was so scared just now. But Mother, how did you get out?" There was no one around.

Yuan Doudou was stunned for a moment, then released Anji and looked around. There was no trace of Jin Chan.

"Mother crawled out of here by herself." Yuan Doudou stretched out her muddy hands, as if to prove something.

Wang Qiqiang looked on in disbelief. "Sister An, this is a trap I dug myself. It's so deep, and there's nothing to hold onto. How did you manage to climb out?"

It wasn't that he didn't trust Yuan Doudou; he was just curious, wondering if prey that fell in would be able to get out just as easily.

If that's the case, then he'll have to dig even deeper.

"What? You dug this up?" Yuan Doudou asked, raising an eyebrow.

Wang Qiqiang felt a chill run down his spine from her gaze, but he still nodded honestly.

"Wang Qiqiang, I thought you were an honest man, I never expected you to do something like this. Today I'm the one who fell in, but what if it were an older person who got seriously injured? How would you have handled that?"

"I, I, actually, when we hunt and dig traps, we mark them with signs, you might not have seen them." Wang Qiqiang pointed to a wooden board stuck in the soil next to him, with a sign that read "Trap here, be careful."

Yuan Doudou looked at the wooden board, on which a few words were written crookedly.

“I was facing away at the time, so it was hard to notice,” Yuan Doudou explained, confirming that she wasn’t blind.

On the way back, Yuan Doudou carried Anji and walked very carefully.

While I was still wondering where Jin Chan had gone, the next second, I heard a buzzing sound in my ears.

"There's something good up ahead, let's go check it out." Jin Chan perched on Yuan Doudou's shoulder, looking quite smug.

Yuan Doudou ignored her and kept walking forward.

For some reason, she didn't like this cicada. Other transmigrated people had cheat codes like space or system, but she was an ugly cicada who was also a chatterbox.

"Believe me, I just wanted to help you because I felt sorry for you."

"Yuan Doudou, you've gone the wrong way. It's to your left." Jin Chan raised her voice, sounding a little cheeky.

"Shut up." Yuan Doudou dusted off her shoulders and flicked away the cicada, which fluttered up into the air.

"You're so stubborn! You'll regret it if you don't believe me," Jin Chan said angrily before storming off.

Anji lay on Yuan Doudou's body, sleeping soundly, and Yuan Doudou quickened her pace.

Just as I was about to leave, I thought again that the appearance of the cicada must be the will of Heaven, so I might as well go and take a look.

Yuan Doudou turned around and walked in the direction Jin Chan had indicated, the grass under her feet growing ever more lush.

In the dense grass, an injured white rabbit lay on the ground, with several baby rabbits nestled beside its belly.
