Chapter 53 Anbi Huai Comes to Ask for Meat

"Second Uncle, who told you that my family is cooking meat?" Yuan Doudou asked, puzzled. Who installed a camera in her house? Does she have no privacy at all?

An Bihuai awkwardly rubbed his palms. What could he say? Could he say that the aroma of meat being cooked at her house wafted into his yard, and his greedy wife smelled it and lay in bed crying and begging for meat?

It wasn't that his family didn't have meat, but Zhuang Shuhui didn't want to eat dry, cured meat; she just wanted to eat large chunks of fatty meat.

"Hey, DouDou, stop beating around the bush with your second uncle, just tell me if there's meat in it?" An Bihuai craned his neck, wanting to find out.

Yuan Doudou watched coldly. Her second uncle looked so impatient; it seemed he wouldn't leave until he got the meat.

"Second Uncle, we do have meat at home. You can have some if you want, but you'll have to pay for it. As you know, meat is expensive. I only bought some because I want Anji to grow up properly."

Trying to get braised pork for free? No way.

Oh, you have to pay to buy it? An Bihuai's long face immediately stretched to be even longer than a donkey's.

"Second Uncle, trying to freeload?"

An Bihuai raised her head and glared fiercely at her niece-in-law, "Doudou, is this your attitude? I am your elder."

Yuan Doudou almost burst out laughing. He was doing this again, using his status as an elder to put her down.

"Second Uncle, if you really considered yourself an elder, you wouldn't have come empty-handed asking for meat."

An Bihuai could no longer bear it; he guessed that Dou Dou wouldn't give him meat easily.

"How much can I sell it for?" He had no choice but to back down.

Without hesitation, Yuan Doudou replied, "Ten coins a piece."

"What? Why don't you just rob someone?" It's not like he's never bought pork before; twenty coins can buy half a pound.

She's asking for ten coins for one piece; isn't that just rigging the price?

Seeing her second uncle's strong reaction, Yuan Doudou couldn't help but sneer, "Second Uncle, pork prices have gone up. It costs fifty coins to buy half a pound. I made braised pork, and the spices alone cost ten coins. If you still think it's expensive, then I can't help you."

An Bihuai was so anxious that she was grimacing. Why couldn't this little girl be as silly as before, giving her whatever she wanted?

"DouDou, look, I'm your second uncle. Give your second uncle a discount. Don't worry, your second uncle won't take advantage of you for nothing." A little discount is surely possible.

Yuan Doudou sneered inwardly. An Bihuai still thought of her as the original owner of the body, someone who was easy to talk to.

Unfortunately, the kind girl who let him bully her is no longer here.

He's trying to take advantage of her? Dream on! I'll never give him the chance.

"Second Uncle, please go back. Don't delay my meal. It's impossible for you to get a discount." She still felt she was losing out at ten coins.

Seeing that she was about to close the door, An Bihuai had no choice but to agree, "Okay, okay, ten coins it is."

He took off his shoes and pulled out a string of copper coins from inside.

This move truly stunned Yuan Doudou.

My second uncle is amazing, a real oddball.

"Here are thirty coins, give me three." An Bihuai held up a string of coins that emitted an indescribable odor.

Yuan Doudou really didn't want to take his money. Seriously, she was halfway through her meal when this happened, and it completely ruined her appetite.

"Put the money on the ground, give me the bowl, and I'll get you some meat."

Seeing her disgusted expression, An Bihuai was also dissatisfied, feeling that Yuan Doudou was being too pretentious. These were copper coins, and no matter how dirty they were, they were still money.

She even complained, saying that if she was so capable, she shouldn't have taken his money.

An Bihuai reluctantly threw the money at Yuan Doudou's feet, heartbroken. His savings of half a month were all gone in an instant.

Yuan Doudou kicked the money into the yard, afraid that An Bihuai would take it away when she wasn't looking.

Soon, she picked out the meat and handed the bowl to An Bihuai.

Anbihuai had only smelled the aroma of pork before, which had already made her mouth water. Unexpectedly, the meat looked even more appetizing, with a deep and shiny color.

On the way back, he used up all his willpower to resist eating a single bite of the meat.

As soon as An Bihuai entered the door, Anping and his two younger brothers came up to him, curious about whether their father had gotten any meat.

An Chang had sharp eyes and spotted the meat in his father's hand at a glance.

"Dad, you're amazing." An Chang had seen Yuan Doudou before, and given her personality, it was really unlikely that she would get any meat.

An Bihuai angrily flung his sleeves and grumbled, "What's so great about it? I bought it from your sister-in-law with my own money."

"My sister-in-law is actually this kind of person." An Chang was very impressed.

He's shameless and likes people who are ruthless and disregard family ties; they're destined for great things.

An Bihuai suddenly looked at his three sons seriously and solemnly reminded them: "Eldest son, second son, third son, you all listen to me carefully. You must not provoke your good sister-in-law if there is nothing wrong with you, do you hear me?"

Anping was puzzled, but nodded nonetheless. Anwang was quiet by nature and didn't concern himself with such trivial matters, so he remained silent, which was taken as an agreement.

The second brother disagreed. He liked Yuan Doudou's personality; she was outspoken and bold, very individualistic, and much more interesting than some conventional people.

"Alright, hurry up and take the meat to your mother." What a jerk, good for nothing but eating.

Zhuang Shuhui smelled the meat early in the morning and lay in bed pretending to be dead until her sons came in.

"Mother, get up and eat meat." Anping said gently.

Zhuang Shuhui pretended not to hear and remained motionless.

An Chang became anxious, "Mother, this meat smells so good, let me try it for you first."

"You dare!" Zhuang Shuhui threw off the covers and sat up abruptly in bed.

Anping smiled, "Mother, you've recovered quite well."

It seems that what my second brother said is true; Mother was faking her illness.

Zhuang Shuhui blushed and scolded, "Put down the bowls and all of you get out."

Eating meat is most enjoyable when you're eating it alone.

Wow, Zhuang Shuhui's eyes lit up when she saw the meat in the bowl.

That brat Yuan Doudou, her character is terrible, but her cooking skills are pretty good.

This meat looks very expensive.

She admired the meat inside, while a group of people outside peered through the window cracks, hoping to get a bite as well.

Sun was even more shameless than An Chang; she ignored everything and pushed open the door to enter.

"Mother, do you have anything good to eat here? I'm so hungry." Sun Shi practically begged for the braised pork to be served.

Zhuang Shuhui immediately hid the bowl of meat under the quilt, saying that she couldn't let her daughter-in-law eat any meat.

"Daughter-in-law, I'm not feeling well. If you're hungry, go cook for yourself." She just finished dinner and she's already saying she's hungry? Is she a reincarnated starving ghost?

Zhuang Shuhui was so angry she couldn't even eat meat in peace.

Sun laughed loudly, her laughter ringing out.

Finally, the surroundings quieted down, and Zhuang Shuhui picked up a piece of braised pork and swallowed it in one bite.

It's irresistible! The tender, mushy fat combined with chewy lean meat, seasoned with five-spice and sweetness, is so satisfying with just one bite.

"That slut, I never expected her to cook meat so well."
